Chapter 0813: Do You Dare?

January 17, 2020 · 3 min read · 578 words

The dark figure had a build similar to Chang Gu, but its movements were agile—nothing like someone who was nearly blind.

Chen Ge didn't dare rush out. He wanted to keep observing for a while longer, but the figure darted off down the other end of the hallway, as if searching for something.

"Is that Chang Gu? Have his eyes recovered?"

The teaching building was pitch-black. Even with his Yin Tong, Chen Ge moved cautiously.

"Teacher, is that someone you know? Should we follow him?"

"The less trouble, the better. Let's head to the top floor first." Chen Ge kept his eyes on the dark figure the entire time. It hadn't left—instead, it slipped into another classroom.

There were other people in the teaching building in the dead of night. More variables meant more uncertainty, and Chen Ge couldn't tell whether this was good or bad.

The group reached the fourth floor. The bathroom was on the other end of the hallway—they'd have to cross the corridor to get there.

"No matter what sounds you hear, don't answer. No matter what you see, don't break from the group. Understand?" Chen Ge gave the club members a few words of warning, then hoisted Wang Yicheng onto his back and entered the hallway.

He kept low, using the corners of his eyes to scan the classrooms on both sides.

The windows were pitch-black inside—nothing could be seen.

The club members followed behind Chen Ge, trying their best not to look left or right. But the more they told themselves not to look, the more their eyes drifted toward other things.

"What is that?"

The classrooms here seemed like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. When Zhou Tu passed by one of the windows, he spotted strands of something beneath the window frame that looked like hair—giving the impression that a girl was lying face-down against the windowsill inside.

"No way that's actually a person, is it?" Zhou Tu rose on his tiptoes, maintaining his forward walking posture while tilting his head slightly to peer below the classroom windowsill.

"The hair… it's moving?"

Before Zhou Tu could get a clear look, his body suddenly bumped into something. Caught off guard, he lost his grip on the kitchen knife, and the rusty blade clattered to the floor.

The rusty knife striking the tiles produced a soft sound, but in the dead of night inside the teaching building, it was jarringly loud.

Everyone stopped in their tracks. Chen Ge turned to look at Zhou Tu. "What are you doing?"

"I accidentally bumped into Zhang Ju." Zhou Tu covered his nose and pointed at Zhang Ju, who was frozen in place. He noticed Zhang Ju's expression looked strange. "You were walking fine—why did you suddenly stop?"

Zhang Ju didn't respond. He was looking up at the photographs on the wall, his mouth slightly open, his pupils contracted to pinpoints.

"Zhang Ju?"

No matter how loudly the others called, Zhang Ju didn't react. He stared at the photographs on the wall, his gaze calm but tinged with sorrow.

He'd had a mental breakdown in the woods when he saw the kitchen knife that had killed the girl—screaming hysterically. Now he was completely different from before.

There was no wild screaming, no self-harm to ease the mental anguish. He simply stood quietly before the photographs.

"This doctor… I've seen him before."

His voice was barely above a whisper, loud enough for only those nearby to hear.
