Chen Ge's eyes lit up. He had found a crucial piece of information.
"The Spirit Medium School is a four-star scenario. I've never encountered a four-star one before — none of my past experience applies here. If I want to learn more, I'll have to go see it for myself."
Chen Ge had no idea how intense an obsession needed to be to weave such a massive nightmare. Even Dr. Gao and Zhang Ya combined couldn't have pulled something like this off.
"Maybe there was always a door inside that bathroom. When the students were playing tricks on Lin Sisi, that door was accidentally opened."
Chen Ge's own haunted house had a door too — one he still didn't dare go near. So he guessed Lin Sisi had probably encountered the same situation he had.
The only difference was that he had avoided the door, while Lin Sisi had opened it.
"Whatever the truth is, I have to check out the bathroom on the top floor of the teaching building!"
The bed board hadn't specified whether that bathroom was in the east campus or the west campus. To be safe, Chen Ge decided to check the bathroom in both areas.
"Let's leave here first. Come with me to the experimental building." He had already gotten plenty of leads from under the bed board. There was no point lingering in Room 413 any longer — if anything, it would only draw the attention of the other students in the building.
"The experimental building? But didn't we just—" Wang Yicheng started to say something, but Zhang Ju cut him off, gently tugging on his arm.
"Do what the teacher says. We go where he tells us to go."
Chen Ge saying they should go to the experimental building was just a casual misdirection. The students of Room 413 had been hostile toward them, and the moment they left, those kids might run straight to the dorm manager to report them.
"Lights-out is almost here. We'll grab our stuff and get right back." Chen Ge restored his bed to its original state and led several club members out of Room 413.
They didn't attract any attention along the way. Once they left the boys' dormitory building, Chen Ge noticed a crowd of people running toward the experimental building. Something seemed to have happened over there.
"All Zhu Long did was knock over a dissection table. The teacher on duty could handle that himself — did it really need to draw this many people?" Chen Ge was curious about what was going on at the experimental building, but it was only curiosity. Going there now would be walking straight into a trap. The best move was to steer clear.
"Teacher, are we really going to the experimental building? We just came from there."
"We're going to Teaching Building One. Move fast. Before the school figures out what's happening, we need to get over there first." Chen Ge kept switching destinations. Even if the school sent people after them, they'd only be chasing dust.
The group ran off in the opposite direction from the experimental building. As time passed, fewer and fewer people wandered the campus.
"Have any of you heard urban legends about bathrooms in this school?" Chen Ge asked as they walked. "Have you ever been to the bathroom on the top floor of the teaching building?"
"No." Several students shook their heads.
"This school looks perfectly normal on the surface, but danger is hidden everywhere. When we get there, you follow my lead."
They took a roundabout route to the teaching building. The east campus's teaching building was quite impressive — three buildings in total, one in front and two behind, each standing four stories tall.
"Your school seems to have quite the fondness for the number four."
By now, the teaching building was empty of students. The classrooms were pitch-black, with only the hallway lights still on.
"This is the first time I've come to the teaching building this late. During the day with so many people around, I didn't notice, but at night this place is seriously creepy." Wang Yicheng walked noticeably slower. The moment he got close to the building, his expression became strained, as though some deep part of him instinctively resisted this place.
