Hearing the name Chang Gu, Chen Ge perked up and studied the man on screen for a long moment.
"So the director's name is also Chang Gu. This really is something he experienced." Looking at the man's face on the movie screen, Chen Ge stroked his chin. "Filming yourself as cold, aloof, and handsome—I've gained a whole new understanding of him."
Staring at that face for a while, Chen Ge began to feel a vague sense of familiarity. He suddenly turned his head to look at the blind man sitting beside him.
The two were vastly different in height and build, but there was a similar lingering coldness between their brows. Their facial features and contours also bore some resemblance.
"Could they be the same person?"
Chang Gu on screen was tall, handsome, and possessed an unmistakable aura. But the blind man sitting next to Chen Ge was old, ugly, and emaciated, as though he were suffering from some grave illness.
"The internet says Chang Gu went missing—possibly perished in a fire, or locked inside a movie…" Chen Ge recalled the information he had found online, his gaze settling on the blind man's tightly shut eyes. "Could those rumors have been spread by him himself? He wanted to disappear from the public eye?"
Hugging the white cat, Chen Ge thought quietly. Whether the blind man was Chang Gu or not, it didn't matter—he had already booked the entire private screening room.
The Chang Gu on screen was cold, aloof, and handsome, completely different from the blind man sitting beside Chen Ge. If Chen Ge hadn't been so sharp and observant, he never would have noticed the connection between the two.
The movie continued. Wen Yu chased after Chang Gu, unwilling to let him go. Whether it was a woman's intuition or something else, she always felt that Chang Gu was someone of great importance to her.
As for Chang Gu, he deliberately avoided Chang Wen Yu, yet from his various reactions, it was clear that the man didn't dislike her.
His expression when looking at Chang Wen Yu was strange. Most of the time he stared as though she were a complete stranger, but occasionally a rare flicker of tenderness would cross his face.
The two stood talking at the hospital entrance. Before they had exchanged many words, the sound of hurried footsteps came from the hospital's back door, and a slightly plump, middle-aged man rushed out.
The moment he appeared, Chang Gu stripped off his white lab coat, tossed it aside, and darted into the narrow alley.
No matter how Wen Yu called after him, he never looked back.
"Did you see a tall, thin man run past?" The middle-aged man burst out of the back door and immediately spotted the white lab coat on the ground.
"What's going on?"
"That man is a thief—a repeat offender! He keeps sneaking into our hospital!" The middle-aged man gritted his teeth with hatred.
"A thief? He… isn't a doctor?" Wen Yu stared at the lab coat in the man's hand, stunned.
"Whatever he told you, don't believe a word of it. That guy is a thief, a liar, and he's not all there in the head. You'd best stay away from him." With that, the middle-aged man turned to go back inside.
"Wait." Wen Yu hurriedly stopped him. "I'm here to apply for the adult education program. Have you ever heard of Hanjiang Private University? The address I found online led me here."
"This place used to be a school, sure, but it was abandoned ages ago. Are you looking at a brochure from several years back?" The middle-aged man was decent enough and answered her question helpfully.
"Abandoned? Do you know why?" Wen Yu had finally found someone reliable and pressed him eagerly.
"Not sure about the details. You could keep heading toward Yongling Mountain. Back then, Hanjiang Private University had two campuses—the regular campus and the night school." The middle-aged doctor held nothing back, sharing everything he knew.
"The regular campus was for regular graduates. Our hospital was converted from part of the regular campus. There was nothing unusual about it—just like any other university."
