The black phone had torn Zombie Resurrection Night to shreds, and Chen Ge had taken the criticism to heart. That horror scene really did have plenty of problems. Besides, performing it properly would require at least three employees working in sync.
"Xiaowan, today's theme is Ghost Marriage. I'll go adjust the background music in a bit. When you're playing the ghost, remember to plug your ears. And your makeup today — I'm doing it myself."
"The boss knows how to do makeup?" Xiaowan flashed a mischievous grin. "Sure, but don't turn me into an ugly monster."
"Don't worry. I'll make you so beautiful it takes people's breath away."
The two entered the makeup room. Chen Ge sat Xiaowan down in front of the mirror, his palm gently tracing across her face.
"Activate Beginner Talent Skill — Corpse Makeup."
Looking at the youthful, lovely girl in the mirror, memories that didn't belong to him began flooding into Chen Ge's mind — a jumbled torrent that included not only color theory and makeup application techniques, but also oral science, human anatomy, skeletal science, thanatology, and other fundamental knowledge.
"Boss, do you actually know how to do makeup or not?" Thirty seconds had passed.
"A good makeup artist designs different styles for different face shapes. Xiaowan, you've got great bone structure." Chen Ge's mind was utterly free of any stray thoughts. After activating Corpse Makeup, Xu Wan was nothing more than a "corpse" in his eyes.
"Tweezers, razors, medical forceps, sutures, alcohol, embalming needles — I don't have any of those here. Guess I can only do the most basic makeup." Chen Ge was muttering to himself, but the words left Xu Wan terrified in her chair. The girl racked her brain and couldn't fathom why you'd need such horrifying tools just to do an actress's makeup in a haunted house. She was scared, but too embarrassed to refuse, so she just tilted her head slightly, sneaking glances at her boss from the corner of her eye while silently praying.
"The foundation only comes in one shade, the blush is way too bright and kind of garish — where's the lipstick?" Chen Ge grumbled to himself before finally starting to mix his own colors. His movements were practiced, his fingers nimble, his color perception extraordinary — nothing at all like a shut-in who never paid attention to his appearance.
The scene before her eyes seemed unbelievable to Xu Wan — mixing every color by hand from start to finish. That was unheard of!
"Boss, I don't think you need to be so hard on yourself. It's so dark inside the haunted house, the visitors won't be able to see clearly—"
"Less talking. Don't move." Before Xu Wan could finish, Chen Ge had already applied her foundation and was sweeping on the eyeshadow he'd mixed.
With just a few strokes — nothing more than a simple eyeshadow — Xu Wan's entire aura shifted, gaining a touch of cold elegance and mystery.
Xu Wan had been ready to argue further, but when she caught sight of herself in the mirror, her lips slowly parted. Everyone loves beauty, especially a woman.
"Cherry red on its own is flat and one-dimensional, but add hibiscus purple and it's a completely different story — the two colors blend together perfectly, as if they were made for each other." Chen Ge explained casually as he swept the blush across the back of his hand with a brush.
"Boss, what are you doing?"
"Our haunted house's cheap blush is way too vivid and oversaturated for the sake of visual impact. I'm blending it on the back of my hand first." Chen Ge worked with a light, delicate touch. After a moment, the blush became beautifully refined, the powder developing a subtle silken sheen.
Xu Wan's mouth had formed a perfect O. "You've been hiding your talents! Where did you learn all this?"
"Oh, I know plenty of things. Hair and makeup are just hobbies of mine." Chen Ge smiled faintly. When fortune smiled on a man, his spirits soared — and the flood of new memories in his mind proved once again that the mobile game could truly affect reality.
In just ten minutes, Chen Ge had finished Xu Wan's makeup. "Check the mirror. Satisfied?"
