Chapter 0552: A New Employee

"If it weren't for her, you wouldn't be in this world anymore. It was precisely because she intervened that you survived. She saved you at your most desperate moment — so what reason do you have to be afraid of such a lovely girl?"

's voice was calm and warm, as though it carried some special power.

Fan Cong thought about it for a long while, and suddenly felt that what Chen Ge said made a lot of sense: "Once you're dead, there's nothing left — not even the chance to pursue happiness. You're right. I should be grateful to her."

"Actually, when you told me the old woman's story before, I already thought of Xiao Bu. The old woman lived right next to Xiao Bu's home. The girl she saw was very likely Xiao Bu." Chen Ge gazed at the little girl on the computer screen who was wearing her mother's nightgown. "An elderly woman living alone suffers a sudden heart attack. No neighbors have any idea. Yet someone called the emergency services. Who do you think made that call?"

"Xiao Bu?"

"Who else could it have been? You can see from this that the child still retains a basic sense of right and wrong." Chen Ge pushed Fan Cong's chair up to the computer. "So just relax and play this game. Xiao Bu won't hurt you for no reason. She let you encounter this game because she probably wants to tell someone her story and her grievances."

"Is that really all? Ghosts need to talk about their feelings too?" Fan Cong's voice was very quiet. He sat in front of the computer, still not quite used to it.

"That should be one of the reasons she made this game. As for the other reasons, I'm afraid we won't figure them out until the game is completely cleared." Seeing that Fan Cong was no longer so tense, Chen Ge relaxed a little himself. "Keep at it. That child is probably trapped in the deepest part of the game right now, entangled by despair and pain. She saved you once before — now it's your turn to save her."

"She's hiding inside my computer?" Fan Cong's gaze slowly grew resolute. He placed both hands back on the keyboard and mouse. "Understood. I'll clear this game as fast as I can."

After saying that, he exited the game interface and wiped the D, E, and F drives clean. "Oh, Boss Chen — those bloody words that appeared on the window just now, did you see them? Did Xiao Bu write those too?"

"She most likely did."

"But why would she tell you that something bad would happen if you came back to Liwan Town? Is this place we're staying in really that dangerous?" Fan Cong seemed afraid Chen Ge might misunderstand, so he added, "I'm worried about my brother. He's rash, reckless, always getting into trouble — not exactly easy to worry about."

"The eastern suburbs of Jiujiang will be a bit chaotic for a while. Don't go out at night, and things should calm down in a week or two."

"A week or two? Got it." Fan Cong had no idea how Chen Ge had arrived at that timeline, but he chose to trust him unconditionally.

"Contact me if anything comes up. I won't be coming to Liwan Town for the next few days." Xiao Bu's message had caught Chen Ge's attention. He was always cautious by nature and never gambled with his own life.

After giving his instructions, Chen Ge left. He needed to drive the hearse back to New Century Paradise under the cover of darkness.

Once inside the bus, Chen Ge spotted the little boy he had placed in the back row. The child was still unconscious.

After checking the boy's body and confirming that his life wasn't in danger, Chen Ge relaxed. "His parents must be frantic with worry. Once I get the bus back to the park, I'll take this child straight to the Xicheng police station."

Route 104 ran from the western suburbs to the eastern suburbs. This boy had most likely been abducted by the middle-aged woman somewhere in the west, so handing him over to the Xicheng station made perfect sense.

"There are fewer surveillance cameras in the suburbs, but I still can't let my guard down." Chen Ge opened the comic book and summoned the ghost driver Tang Jun once more.

"What's the verdict?"

Under the combined efforts of , Old , and numerous other ghosts taking turns to work on him, Tang Jun's attitude had improved considerably.

He wasn't evil by nature. His death had been nothing more than a traffic accident, and he bore no deep grudges. His only lingering attachment was a reluctance to part with his family.

"I don't mind either way — I'm driving regardless, and it doesn't matter who I drive for. But if you can let me see my family one more time, I'll follow you faithfully from now on."

"Where does your family live?"

"What's wrong?"
