After being comforted for quite a while,
There was a certain probability of dragging a ghost he saw into a painting, but for a red-coat, it could only delay them by a fraction of a second.
For the time being, Chen Ge wasn't sure what limitations this ability had. All he knew was that the comic album had only a few blank pages left, the number of ghosts it could hold was limited, and the success rate of the ability was very low.
This ability alone wasn't enough to make Yan Danian the most powerful ghost beneath the red-coat tier. That hidden ability was what Chen Ge was truly looking forward to.
Unfortunately, no matter how Chen Ge tried to worm the information out of him, Yan Danian didn't reveal a single thing — as if he himself didn't know he had such a hidden ability.
"Uncle Yan is great in every way — he just always looks a bit glum."
When he'd been trying to comfort the uncle earlier, Chen Ge had said quite a lot, and he didn't think there was anything wrong with what he'd told him: "What happened tonight was indeed a surprise for you, Uncle. But in the future… once you've experienced things like this a few more times, you'll probably get used to it."
Gazing at the maddened ghost horde around the well and the rampaging red-coat, Chen Ge nodded gently. "This magnificent, bizarre world — you can only see it by standing at my side. Perhaps one day, Uncle, you'll understand my good intentions."
Once his stamina had recovered, Chen Ge wandered the outer perimeter with the comic album and iron hammer in hand. He summoned the employees from the album and had them drag isolated ghosts in the village over to the wall corners.
Chen Ge had always considered himself a very reasonable person. He would have his subordinates beat the ghosts to the verge of dissolving, then ask the wretched things whether they'd be willing to join the Haunted House.
If they agreed, they went into the comic album — everyone happy. If they refused, they became enemies, and Chen Ge certainly wasn't the type to let a tiger return to the mountain.
"To perfectly recreate the three-star scenario of Living
At first the employees in the comic album didn't know how to coordinate, but under Chen Ge's direction, they gradually developed a tacit understanding. By the end, Chen Ge didn't even need to instruct them — they had started luring straggling ghosts over on their own.
"Innately gifted," Chen Ge praised, quite satisfied with the employees' performance. He clutched the Skull-Crushing Hammer and hid off to the side, his eyes locking onto the two black-robed figures.
"No. 10 very likely knows me in real life — there's a strong chance he's the Association President. If I can smash him down, Xiong Qing will also be somewhat affected."
To attack the members of the Weird Tales Association, Xiong Qing was an obstacle that couldn't be circumvented.
Chen Ge naturally shifted his gaze back to Xiong Qing. The first time he'd gone to Lin Guan Village, he had received a call from Captain Li saying that Xiong Qing had been captured — apprehended near New Century Paradise, no less.
Yet after only a day or two, Xiong Qing had appeared before Chen Ge as a red-coat.
The conditions for a red-coat's birth were extremely harsh — Xu Yin's case was proof of that. One had to endure tremendous suffering, carry deep resentment and hatred, and possess overwhelming aggression.
"Xiong Qing's body was almost torn in half. If this was what he looked like at the moment of death, then one can only imagine the agony he suffered before the end. But the real question now is — why did he appear alone near New Century Paradise? And how did he happen to be caught by the police? When he was arrested, where were the other Association members?"
