Chapter 1206: City of Nightmares

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,037 words

The Hospital Director's revelation had shaken Sun Xiaojun to his core, filling him with a deep sense of self-doubt.

"Don't overthink it. Whether you're a seed of curse or a seed of hope, the fact remains that you saved everyone." extended his finger toward the distance, where a woman in a red raincoat stood beside a child in a blue raincoat.

The reunion had been a long time coming, and everyone instinctively kept their distance, giving the two space.

"Without you, Red Raincoat might never have found her child. You brought so many beautiful things to all of us — that's more than enough." Chen Ge continued to comfort Little Sun.

"I think I understand now." Sun Xiaojun nodded. "Boss, can I ask you a favor?"

"Go ahead."

"I won't be going back to the House of Horrors. I want to build a real hospital on these ruins — one that can actually heal pain and despair." A smile appeared on Little Sun's face. "I'm a seed of curse. I'll bring misfortune and calamity — that's unavoidable. But I'll prove in my own way that a seed of curse can not only find happiness for itself, but also help others find new life."

"Then I suppose I'll have to call you Director Sun from now on." During their time in the hospital, Little Sun had grown remarkably, and Chen Ge felt at ease leaving things in his hands.

After entrusting the ruins of the Cursed Hospital to Little Sun, Chen Ge picked up his bag and wandered around the grounds.

Red High Heels, having healed most of the employees with her abilities, was standing somewhere in a daze. Chen Ge followed her gaze to a badly damaged operating table up ahead.

He vaguely remembered that the black phone still had an affinity mission related to Red High Heels. The mission required him to visit the Cursed Hospital's operating room.

But the phone couldn't be powered on now, and the operating room was buried beneath the rubble.

"What are you looking at?" Chen Ge walked up beside Red High Heels, bag in hand.

Red High Heels shook her head. There was a hint of bewilderment in her blood-red eyes.

After the Hospital Director's soul was scattered, had absorbed the majority of his remaining power, while all the strange curses within the Cursed Hospital had been claimed by Red High Heels.

Once she fully digested those curses, she would absolutely become a new malevolent god of curses.

"There are many ugly things in this world, but there are many beautiful ones too. From now on, stay with the House of Horrors. We can go out and see all the beauty the world has to offer — together."

In the nightmare, Chen Ge had learned Red High Heels' true name, so the affinity mission on the black phone was no longer necessary.

A true name was the only weakness of a ghost proficient in curses. The fact that Red High Heels was willing to let Chen Ge know her name meant he was the only person she truly trusted.

Even among the living, it was hard to find people you could place absolute trust in. For a ghost who had endured nothing but pain, suffering, and despair, someone worthy of complete trust was even harder to come by.

After a moment's hesitation, Red High Heels gave a gentle nod.

She waved her arm, and countless threads of curse energy surged into the rubble, searching beneath the operating table until they unearthed a medical file.

Pasted on that file was her old photograph, along with her former story.

The curse threads shredded the medical file to pieces, and Red High Heels finally bid farewell to all the hatred and pain of her past.

With the Cursed Hospital's affairs settled, Chen Ge and his numerous employees made their way deep into Blood City, carrying his unconscious parents.

Before departing, Chen Xiao had pointed out the path, and with several malevolent spirits flanking them on all sides, the group encountered no danger along the way.

They passed through street after blood-red street, past building after blood-soaked building, and through the thick crimson mist, they arrived at the heart of the city of blood.

The building at the center of Blood City came into view, and everyone stopped in their tracks.

Nearer the center, towering blood-red structures rose twenty or thirty stories high, every floor crawling with blood veins and teeming with savage ghosts. There was an abandoned blood hospital rivaling the Cursed Hospital in scale, its interior writhing with pulsing flesh. And there was a black cathedral constructed entirely from mismatched severed limbs, exuding a thick aura of dread — a half-dead malevolent spirit was even nailed to its spire.

Every building in the central district radiated an overwhelming sense of terror, yet the structure at the very center looked remarkably plain and unremarkable.

Chen Ge ran his hand along the familiar railing, his expression complicated.

At the absolute heart of the city of blood stood a dilapidated haunted house — identical to the one in Hanjiang New Century Amusement Park.

"Who would've thought this would be the deepest building in Blood City."

Chen Ge pulled open the railing and lifted the thick blackout curtain.

Everything here was intimately familiar to him. He almost felt as though he had returned to the real world.

"Is anyone here?"

Chen Ge entered the haunted house flanked by several malevolent spirits. He walked down the corridor, pushing open door after door, but found no one inside. It seemed to be completely empty.

"When Good Intentions faded away, he said someone was waiting for me in the deepest part of Blood City. Chen Xiao also told me to come here and find someone. I've arrived now — so why is it empty?"

After thinking for a moment, something suddenly clicked. He headed to the first-floor bathroom and saw the blood-red door panel of a stall, carved with the image of a vicious ghost.

There were many blood-red doors, but those marked with the image of a vicious ghost were exceedingly rare.

In that instant, a cascade of thoughts flashed through Chen Ge's mind.
