Chapter 101: Muyang Middle School's Hidden Mission!

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 780 words

The sound from the computer wasn't very loud, but everyone standing around could hear it crystal clear.

All eyes turned to Fei Youliang, who was slumped on the ground, foaming at the mouth with a vacant expression on his face. The expressions of those watching were all rather odd.

The short, middle-aged man noticed something was wrong and skipped ahead through that portion.

A minute or two later, an image appeared on the computer screen. Zhu Jianing and Fei Youliang had already entered the haunted house.

The tourists outside were curious about the haunted house's set design. Some even pushed forward, trying to get a better look at the mechanisms and layout inside.

The Muyang Middle School set was built underground and was very quiet. The microphones clearly picked up the two young men's voices, including their discussion about uploading videos and leaving bad reviews for the haunted house.

"So these people came here specifically to cause trouble?"

"I almost believed what they said earlier."

The surrounding tourists buzzed with discussion. With no other choice, the short middle-aged man skipped ahead several more times.

Due to the lighting conditions, the video footage wasn't very clear. All that could be seen was a gloomy corridor and empty classrooms on either side, but even that was enough to be unsettling.

The people from Qin Guang's studio hadn't played this footage to help Chen Ge promote his haunted house—they wanted to find evidence that Chen Ge had instructed his employees to assault a visitor. But after five or six minutes of playback, all they saw was Fei Youliang and Zhu Jianing screaming their heads off, without so much as a shadow of a ghost.

Now it wasn't just the Qin Guang studio people who were unsettled. The surrounding tourists were growing more and more curious. A haunted house this big, and not a single actor in costume playing a ghost? So what exactly was it using to scare people?

Soon the video reached the scene where the two played the Pen Spirit game. At first nothing seemed off, but when Chen Ge heard Fei Youliang ask that disturbingly familiar question, he nearly bit his tongue in shock. These two brothers' moves were so wild they made his scalp tingle. Now he had a vague understanding of why the two of them had ended up in such a miserable state.

The subsequent footage became rather eerie. Zhu Jianing suddenly flung the pen away and fled, while Fei Youliang grabbed the pen and scribbled furiously across the white paper.

"Die! Die! Die!"

Staring at the words on the white paper, the surrounding tourists couldn't quite make sense of what they were seeing.

"What's he doing?"

"Schizophrenia? I don't think we need to bother calling the park doctor—just call the mental hospital directly."

"So you're telling me two people went to visit a haunted house, and one of them was scared unconscious by his own teammate?"

Seeing this footage, Chen Ge completely relaxed. Among everyone present, apart from the two victims, he was the only one who knew what had actually happened.

The Pen Spirit had definitely appeared at that moment, but whether it was because the camera couldn't capture it or due to the angle of filming, the Pen Spirit itself wasn't recorded. All the footage showed was this scene that looked like some kind of possession.

The video continued playing. Chen Ge moved a little closer to the computer—what happened next was what he was most curious about.

After Zhu Jianing fled, only Fei Youliang remained in the room. After scribbling on the white paper for quite a while, he suddenly stopped.

The camera was strapped to his chest, and the footage froze. After a few seconds, the image suddenly shifted—Fei Youliang appeared to have collapsed.

"Nobody touched him?"

"Yeah, so how did he just pass out like that?"

Ten or so seconds later, something even more abnormal occurred. The camera angle flipped, and Fei Youliang stood back up!

He staggered out of the girls' dormitory, the screen shaking violently. He stumbled along like someone who had only just learned how to walk.

A person who had been unconscious, suddenly standing up and walking around on his own—in all his years of experience watching tourists faint, Chen Ge knew this was virtually impossible.

This guy might have been taken over by the Pen Spirit!

Chen Ge said nothing, but his expression became intensely focused.

At first, Fei Youliang—or rather, whatever was now inside him—seemed to not yet be accustomed to this body, but in just a few seconds, he was walking faster and faster, until there was hardly any difference from a normal person.
