Chapter 2011: War of the Demon Realm, Battle of Yi Tian (Part Seven)

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,059 words

The sheep-headed giant beast was surveying the cluster of Body Integration existences within the battlefield, its eyes rolling ceaselessly back and forth.

For it, the countless demon and human cultivators massed below were nothing to concern itself with — only these few individuals posed even a marginal threat. And among the human side, the two Body Integration beings radiated a familiar aura: the very ones who had sealed it away all those years ago.

As for the auras emanating from those several demon venerables on the demon side, they were equally repugnant to its senses.

In its former glory, when its divine powers were at their peak, it would have thought nothing of swallowing both sides whole in a single gulp. But now, with its old injuries still unhealed and its magical power less than half of what it should be after being sealed for so many years, it dared not act so recklessly.

The beast was still muttering inwardly when Fairy Linluan's sharp cry suddenly reached its ears. At the same time, the blood talisman lodged inside its skull, stimulated by the command, immediately swelled and pulsed once more.

Having just experienced the searing agony that had been seared deep into its primordial spirit — an agony that felt as though it could erupt again at any moment — the sheep-headed beast's body shuddered. Without another moment's hesitation, it opened its massive maw, and a gust of murky yellow wind surged directly toward the demon army laying siege to the city below.

In the blink of an eye, heaven and earth went dark as yellow dust whirled in a maelstrom.

The demon cultivators and demonic beasts caught in the yellow gale were torn to shreds one by one by the horrifying power contained within, utterly unable to resist.

In the span of a few breaths, over a thousand demonic beasts and more than a hundred demon cavalry had perished in the tempest.

"Hmph, Hexi — you dare assist the humans against our Holy Race? Then today you can perish alongside this city!" The black-armored giant snarled in fury. With a cold snort, he flipped one hand and hurled out a dark leather pouch. His other hand moved, and a golden flying fork several inches long materialized in his grasp.

The fork shimmered once, then instantly expanded to a hundred zhang in size.

The giant formed by the black-armored man gripped the fork with both hands and slashed it savagely at the hurricane below.

A torrent of bluish-green blade light cascaded down like a waterfall. In a flash, it cleaved the yellow gale clean in half, the brilliance stabbing into the ground with a blinding flare.

A thunderous boom shook the earth!

The entire ground trembled, and a colossal crack a thousand zhang long split open from thin air.

The hurricane, after enduring that slash, dissipated instantly without a trace.

Meanwhile, the dark leather pouch that had been thrown out let out a peal of thunder, and two thick arcs of silver lightning burst forth. In a flash they transformed into a pair of enormous wolves wreathed in silver electrical discharge.

Each was three or four zhang long, a pair of silver lightning wings sprouting from its back. With a single beat of those wings, they let out shrill howls and lunged straight at the sheep-headed giant beast.

Hexi took one look at this and a flicker of contempt crossed its sheep-like face. Without a word, one colossal palm struck outward through the air.

A hundred-zhang yellow palm materialized overhead like a small mountain and dropped straight down onto the two wolves. Before it even finished descending, the two seemingly extraordinary demonic beasts were crushed flat, their bodies bursting apart.

Startled, the black-armored giant had no time to think — he thrust the golden fork downward in a vicious chop. A massive blade of light flashed out once more, and simultaneously he circulated the spell formulas in his mind. Two enormous black hammers materialized, projecting layers of afterimages as they pummeled toward the beast in a frenzy.

Having been struck repeatedly by the black-armored giant's attacks, the sheep-headed beast now regarded it as an outright provocation. A flash of ferocity blazed in its eyes. The two bat-like wings on its back swept forward before its body, blurring slightly, and transformed into two billowing masses of dark, murky yellow cloud that engulfed its entire massive frame.

The colossal blade light and the dense barrage of hammer shadows struck the yellow clouds and produced only a series of muffled thuds — utterly incapable of breaching the defense.

The black-armored giant was horrified. He leveled the golden fork horizontally, one hand flying through seals at lightning speed. Clusters of silver lightning fire erupted around his body, ready to be launched at the enemy.

But at that very moment, a fluctuation stirred in the air directly overhead. A massive, fur-covered flesh palm materialized from thin air and pressed down toward the giant.

Before the palm even landed, an immense force enveloped the giant and the space around him.

The black-armored giant felt his shoulders sink as his body slowed as though a mountain had been pressed upon it. Simultaneously, the surrounding void turned tough as forged steel — moving even a single finger became agonizingly difficult.

As a late-stage demon venerable of the demon race, the black-armored giant was far above ordinary demon cultivators in both experience and power. Shocked and enraged, he let out a tremendous roar. The silver lightning fire hovering around him detonated simultaneously, blasting apart the spatial confinement that had frozen him in place.

Behind the giant's back, the phantom of a single dark elephant materialized. It raised its trunk and let out a deep, resonant bellow, and a staggering aura surged skyward.

The black-armored giant, now wreathed in flowing black radiance, felt his physical strength multiply several fold. Ignoring the residual pressure bearing down on him, he split into over a hundred identical phantom afterimages, every single one indistinguishable from the original, and they streaked away in every direction.

But the massive flesh palm in the sky merely trembled slightly before expanding in size and plummeting down with lightning speed. A wave of murky yellow energy rolled outward in all directions.

The majority of the phantom images were swept up in the wave and instantly reduced to nothing.
