Chapter 3567. Silver Thread Perishes

That said, he had to admit that Prince Yang was truly extraordinary. By all accounts, he had only just reached the High-Rank Demon King realm, yet he had managed to kill a Half-Saint — practically inconceivable. When he had first heard the news, he hadn't believed it either. He had even traveled to Flying Cloud Continent personally to investigate, and only after confirming the facts had he returned to report.

To slay a Half-Saint with nothing but the strength of a High-Rank Demon King — across the entire Demon Domain, even if such a feat might not be without equal in the future, it was certainly without precedent in the past. Not even the various Demon Saints had accomplished such a feat in their younger days. In a way, he found himself filled with grudging admiration for Prince Yang's courage and sheer strength.

Just as he sat there nervously waiting, he heard Yu Rumeng grind her teeth behind the desk and curse: "Little bastard!"

Little bastard? The Demon King couldn't help but make a strange face at those words. The nickname felt oddly intimate, and moreover... the Saint's fury didn't seem nearly as thunderous as he had anticipated.

It seemed the rumors he had heard were not entirely baseless. The relationship between the Saint and this Prince Yang did appear to be something out of the ordinary.

"Tell me in detail — exactly how did he kill Silver Thread?"

The Demon King immediately laid out the full details of the battle three days prior. He had gone to Flying Cloud Continent himself and tracked down several survivors from that day to question them, so he had a thorough understanding of everything that happened. As he spoke, it was as though he had witnessed it firsthand — his account matched the events of that day down to the last detail.

After a moment, Yu Rumeng's voice drifted from behind the desk again, carrying a note of barely concealed surprise: "Are you saying he fought Silver Thread one-on-one from beginning to end, with no one else intervening?"

"Based on my investigation, that is indeed the case. However, after Prince Yang killed Lord Silver Thread, he appeared to be completely spent. It was only when the Demon Kings on Flying Cloud Continent moved against him that he summoned Zhui Feng to protect him."

"He actually managed to pull that off..." Yu Rumeng's expression grew complicated. But thinking about it more carefully, Silver Thread's death was not entirely unjustified. As a Charm Demon, Silver Thread was surely supremely confident in her soul techniques. But ever since Yang Kai had been intimate with her, his spiritual soul power had surged to levels that even Half-Saints could not match. On top of that, the Charm Demon clan's enchantment techniques simply had no effect on him whatsoever.

Silver Thread had most likely lost the initiative precisely because of this, allowing Yang Kai to seize the upper hand.

Then, too, Silver Thread had already been gravely injured during the Battle of Zhoutian. Though more than a month had passed, she certainly had not fully recovered. Even as the mistress of Flying Cloud Continent, how much of her true strength she could bring to bear was anyone's guess — and that was what had allowed Yang Kai to accomplish such a feat.

If it had been a Half-Saint in peak condition, Yang Kai absolutely could not have managed this on his own.

It was just... that the moment this dead man had left Phantom Continent, he had gone straight to pick a fight with Silver Thread. It was entirely beyond her expectations — and to think he had actually killed Silver Thread!

If word of this got out, she would undoubtedly become a laughingstock among the other Demon Saints. Yu Rumeng could already imagine the insufferable expression Bei Li Mo would wear the next time they met. How infuriating!

While she was lost in thought, the Demon King below ventured cautiously: "How should this matter be handled? Please give your orders, Holy One."

The death of a Half-Saint was no small matter. If it was not handled properly, it could easily provoke unease among the other Half-Saints. Silver Thread had served Yu Rumeng for many years — to be killed without explanation on her own territory demanded some kind of accounting.

"Where is that little bastard now?" Yu Rumeng asked darkly.

"His whereabouts are unknown. Since Prince Yang departed on Zhui Feng three days ago, no one has seen a trace of him."

"Find him! Search the entire domain if you have to. He must be seriously injured right now. Find him and bring him back to the Holy City — I'll deal with him myself!"

Though Yu Rumeng spoke through gritted teeth, looking for all the world as though she wanted to devour Yang Kai in a single bite, the Demon King caught the undertone all the same — the Saint truly doted on that Prince. Otherwise, why would she order him brought back to the Holy City? She could simply have sent a few Half-Saints out to kill him on the spot.

Lord Silver Thread had apparently died for nothing.

"Additionally, the official story is that Silver Thread conspired with the traitor Yue Sang and attempted to commit an act of treachery some time ago. Her death now is simply the just consequence of her own actions."

Just as he expected...

The Demon King responded respectfully, then hesitated a moment before asking: "What about Lord Di Li? Should we send word to inform him?"

He clearly knew what had transpired on Zhoutian Continent as well. If Yang Kai had gone after Silver Thread and actually killed her, he certainly wouldn't spare Di Li either. Just the thought of it made his scalp tingle. That Prince Yang had managed to kill Silver Thread single-handedly — he would surely be a match for Lord Di Li, and he had Zhui Feng at his side to boot. If he actually went looking for Di Li, it would be another catastrophe.

"Di Li has already gone to the Two-World Battlefield. There is no need to inform him!" Yu Rumeng said coolly.

"Yes." The Demon King's expression was one of pure respect. So the Saint had made arrangements well in advance — since Lord Di Li had already departed for the Two-World Battlefield, Prince Yang presumably wouldn't be able to cause trouble for him. This matter should end here.
