"Really solved?" Elizabeth asked, still in disbelief.
Klein nodded unhurriedly with a smile:
"Yes."
"It wasn't a difficult matter."
The above sentence is a lie... he silently added in his heart.
Perhaps because Klein had been exceptionally calm throughout, or perhaps because this was the only "floating plank" she had, Elizabeth didn't doubt him anymore. She patted her chest and sighed in relief:
"Thank you, you are truly a trustworthy gentleman. I was absolutely terrified just now."
"How is Selena? Is she alright?"
"She might be unconscious for a few minutes, but there's no other problem. Well, feeling weak for two or three days is normal." Klein said, suddenly pulling a serious face, "Who is her occult teacher? Didn't they tell her the basic taboos?"
Elizabeth immediately stood up straight, like a student being scolded by a teacher.
She thought for a moment and said: "Selena mentioned that her occult teacher is Haynes Vansaint. A year ago, she went to a divination club on Hows Street for a reading and met this gentleman."
Haynes Vansaint... He publicly teaches harmless mirror divination but privately teaches 'Black Divination'... I should have reported this to the Captain sooner, checked his gas meter earlier... Klein felt a slight pang of regret, then asked in a deep voice, "Did he also teach Selena the mirror divination?"
For Klein, the most frightening part of this incident was that it almost affected his sister, Melissa!
Elizabeth nodded carefully: "Yes, but Selena's previous attempts at mirror divination were unsuccessful. Um, she told me today that she sneaked a look at the incantation her teacher had secretly stored away, and she was sure it would work this time."
A little death-seeker... Klein rubbed his temples in frustration. "Do you remember the incantation she chanted?"
Hmm... Although Haynes Vansaint didn't actively teach Selena dangerous knowledge, it was clear that he was experimenting with it himself. Attracting an unknown, hidden existence was a disaster just waiting to happen. I must deal with this as soon as possible to prevent the situation from worsening and affecting others.
"I remember part of it." Elizabeth recalled. "She used the Hermes language from the occult. You know, I've only just started learning it, so I only remember the words 'Wandering', 'Spirit', 'Creator', and 'Follower'."
Creator? The True Creator? Many underground occult enthusiasts do worship this ancient existence revered by many secret organizations... Yes, an ancient existence that appeared at the beginning of the Fifth Epoch, over a thousand years ago! Klein nodded thoughtfully: "When Selena wakes up, make sure to ask her for the complete incantation and then find a chance to tell me."
"Alright." Elizabeth replied readily.
But then she hesitantly asked, "Mr. Moretti, why don't you ask her directly?"
"I don't want Melissa to know about my interest in the occult. Can you keep a secret for me?" Klein asked instead of answering.
Elizabeth bit her lip lightly, her eyes brightening, "No problem. Melissa does prefer machines to the occult, and reason over intuition."
Klein pressed the hand holding his hat to his left chest and bowed like a gentleman. "Thank you for your understanding. And as for Selena, you know, she's not very good at keeping secrets."
"More accurately, she likes sharing secrets with others." Elizabeth agreed.
Klein put his hat back on, thought for a moment, and said, "When Selena wakes up, remember to tell her that she suddenly fainted and broke the mirror. I think her memory must still be stuck at the beginning of the mirror divination."
Seeing Elizabeth nod, he put on a stern face again: "Remember, whether it's divination or trying out other occult knowledge, do not pray to any existence other than the seven gods! If you see a spell that doesn't belong to this type, burn it immediately and stay away from whoever gave it to you!"
"If I hadn't discovered it in time today, in another ten minutes, Selena would have become a monster, a malevolent spirit! And no one present would have survived—including me!"
Thinking of the cold 'Selena' in the mirror, Elizabeth had no doubt about Klein's words. She sighed in lingering fear, "I understand. I'll remember it. I'll also keep an eye on Selena."
"Alright, you go in and take care of Selena." Klein raised his silver-embellished black cane and walked towards the stairway.
As he walked, his eyes deepened, his gaze turned inward, and he took out a 1-penny copper coin from his right pocket, flipping it into the air with a *clink*.
"Selena is out of trouble."
"Selena is out of trouble."
...
Klein repeated this statement rapidly, reaching out to catch the tumbling copper coin as it fell. He saw that the side with the head of George III was facing up.
This wasn't a simplified version of the "Pendulum Method," but a simplified version of "Dream Divination." In that instant, Klein used meditation to force himself to sleep, allowing his spirit to travel through the spirit world, while the heads or tails of the coin served as the externalized symbols.
Heads is correct, tails is wrong!
Good, no problem... Klein let the brass coin spin merrily between his fingers.
This was a simplification only a "Seer" could accomplish.
