Chapter 661: Behind the Mask (Thanks to the Silver Alliance member "Lord of the Universe")

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 938 words

One awkward, harsh, grating word after another, completely unintelligible, slowly spilled from Klein's mouth. This instantly quieted the hurricane created by the terrifying suction of the bronze door and plunged the already dim surroundings into an even deeper darkness.

It was only at this moment that he realized the extraordinary ability the "Hell Admiral" had just used was called the "Dead Man's Language," which could directly bypass the protection of flesh and blood to target the spirit.

It was an advanced form of the "Necromancer" ability, elevating direct communication between spirits into a form of coercion, even enslavement!

The words, impossible for living beings to understand, echoed across the foredeck. The "Hell Admiral" Ludwell inevitably stiffened in place. A layer of transparency rapidly surfaced over his body, dressed as a pirate captain.

His spirit was being pulled by an intangible force!

Just then, the square, dark ring on the index finger of Ludwell's left hand emitted a faint eerie light.

The spirit that had been forcibly pulled out immediately returned to its body, the two merging back into one.

Clang!

Ludwell's right hand drew the thin rapier hanging from his waist.

Its body was entirely iron-black. Its tip absorbed the surrounding light, condensing into a single, dark point.

This "Hell Admiral" suddenly took a wide step, bringing a violent gust of wind, instantly closing the distance between them. The fine sword in his hand then thrust forward like a bolt of lightning!

The bronze door, covered in mysterious patterns, still stood in its original spot. It did not disappear because Ludwell had withdrawn his left palm and initiated a new action. This was distinctly different from the similar abilities Klein had seen previously use through a mystical item!

Pfft!

The dark rapier pierced Klein in an unavoidable manner.

Klein's figure quickly shriveled, turning into a thin sheet of paper, yellowed and brittle, as if it had weathered ten thousand years.

The hurricane from the bronze door swept past, and the paper figure was utterly destroyed.

In midair, Klein leaped out from the depths of shadow, a large handful of "Sea God" charms already in his grasp.

"Storm!"

The rapid, harsh Ancient words burst forth. The thin sheets of white tin ignited, sacrificing themselves to the "Sea God." This meant that, should he wish, Klein could retrieve most of the materials and cycle them repeatedly until these metals could no longer bear the spirituality.

Woo!

Cyan wind blades shot out. The surrounding sea surface heaved with heavy waves as high as the ship's cabin. Because Klein hadn't tried to—and didn't have time to—distinguish the types of charms, while these attacks swept toward Ludwell in a blanket, corresponding supernatural effects also appeared on the "Hell Admiral." Layers upon layers of currently useless effects like underwater breathing, free movement, levitating winds, and pressure resistance piled up.

Ludwell suddenly opened his mouth, unleashing a silent, piercing shriek. The waves about to crash onto him and the countless wind blades briefly froze in midair.

Following this, the "Hell Admiral" raised his left hand. The square black ring on his index finger swirled with a sinister, eerie light and instantly flared up.

Woo!

The bronze door, exuding an indescribable aura, swelled, becoming twice as tall and wide.

With a heavy creak, the gap in the doorway split wider. The already terrifying suction instantly escalated to an unimaginable degree.

The cyan wind blades, the pitch-black waves, and Klein in midair were simultaneously pulled toward the door, rushing to join the strange vines and arms slowly unfurling.

Klein was about to use the soul of the "Priest of Light" to force a clash between the "Sacred Light" and the bronze door, to gain a chance to catch his breath, when he saw a blazing white fireball, half a person in size, flying over from another direction.

The fireball's own speed was compounded by the door's exaggerated suction. It passed by not far from Klein and smashed into the gap of the mysterious door.

Boom!

Blazing white fire splattered everywhere, raining down on various surrounding areas, but it could only make the double-leafed bronze door shake a few times and dim slightly.

Seizing the opportunity, Klein snapped his fingers with a *pop*.

The few matches he kept separately stored in his coat pocket instantly ignited. Crimson waves of flame quickly covered his body, dissolving it.

A cluster of flames rose beside the bronze door, and Klein leaped out from within it.

He immediately saw hovering somewhat awkwardly in midair, tightly gripping a blazing white spear in his hand.

This "Strongest Hunter" had finally arrived, though he seemed unaccustomed to flying.

The "Hell Admiral" Ludwell looked up at this scene. The pale fireballs in the eye sockets of his silver-white mask noticeably flickered.

It was obvious he had not expected that besides the "Star Admiral" , there would be two other pirate general-level powerhouses on the *Future*, all equipped with quite decent mystical items or sealed artifacts.

Just then, Ludwell suddenly raised his hand to his face and unexpectedly tore off the silver-white mask.

A deep, pale light burst forth from behind the mask. This caused the dark, square ring on his left index finger to radiate an endless, profound stillness.

The stillness surged into the bronze door, pushing it off the deck and into the air.

The door, covered in mysterious patterns, merged with the boundless stillness and rapidly swelled to over thirty meters in height.

It used the sea's surface as its foundation, standing there as if it were a gateway to another world, a world different from the current one.
