Chapter 10: Gan Mongting

January 17, 2020 · 6 min read · 1,102 words

As Lin Lei and his group traveled through the Star Sea in their metallic lifeform, the second leader of the Blade Island, 'Daiman,' had already arrived alone in a nameless canyon deep beneath the Star Sea.

"Hmph, if not for my brother's death, I wouldn't have known where the Commander lived. How could I let you claim a piece of this great merit!" Daiman looked at the canyon before him, seething with silent resentment.

Then, Daiman transformed into a phantom and easily slipped into the nameless canyon. Strange underwater plants grew in abundance within it. Occasionally, some sea magic beasts would emerge from these plants, but Daiman paid them no mind.

Moments later—

Daiman arrived at the entrance of a cave deep within the undersea canyon. Two guards stood outside the cave.

"Halt!" one of the guards immediately shouted.

Daiman smiled faintly. "Oh? Don't you recognize me anymore?" As he spoke, he moved closer. Only then did the two guards laugh. One of them said with a smile, "So it's Lord Daiman, the second leader of Blade Island." Despite these words, it was clear they didn't hold him in much regard.

Their own strength wasn't particularly formidable, but their master was.

"Go and report to your master. I need to see him—it's about a major matter!" Daiman said solemnly.

The two guards exchanged a glance.

"It does seem like something serious. You go report first."

One guard then said, "Wait here. I'll go inform my master." He then entered the cave. After a good while, the guard emerged. "Lord Daiman, my master invites you in. Please follow me!"

Daiman snorted inwardly, "Just relying on being a bit stronger!"

The interior of the cave was very large and lavishly furnished. In a short time, Daiman reached the main hall. The walls were carved with various patterns, seemingly depicting an ancient story. Daiman knew what it was: "Hmph, isn't it just some stories about Gan Mongting worth boasting about? So he went to the Asura Realm? Acting so arrogant!"

Though he thought this, Daiman actually felt a bit envious.

"Daiman, where is your brother Akci?" A cold, indifferent voice drifted down from above.

On a throne at the upper end of the hall sat a green-haired man with a forehead covered in fish scales, wearing a cyan robe embroidered with gold trim. The man's eyes glowed green, and his lips were purple, giving him a very eerie appearance.

"Brother... he's dead!" Daiman said, feigning sadness.

"Akci is dead?" The green-haired man stood up in surprise, then immediately asked, "How is that possible? Your brother is, after all, a Six-Star Demon. He practiced the Laws of Water and possessed the highest defense among our group. Who could break through his defense?"

"A black-haired man named 'Luomi Bollenosen'!" At the mention of Luomi, Daiman still felt a shiver of fear.

That day, that black-haired man's body had transformed into endless lightning across the sky, like a storm raging over the Mist Sea. With just a single slash of his blade, he had killed his brother.

"Luomi Bollenosen?" The green-haired man on the throne frowned. "Why haven't I heard of this person? What does he cultivate?"

"The Laws of Lightning," Daiman answered, holding nothing back. "That man, on our Blade Island, turned his entire body into endless lightning. It was just like the scene of a Mist Sea storm—a massive lightning vortex formed over our island. It was terrifying!"

"So there's such a powerful individual."

The green-haired man frowned. "It seems I need to report this to the Commander."

Then, looking at Daiman, he said, "Daiman, is that why you've come to see me this time?" In his mind, the green-haired man had already decided that, no matter what, he would not provoke this Luomi Bollenosen. Anyone who could kill Akci with a single strike was too dangerous.

"Lord Gan Mongting!" A smile immediately appeared on Daiman's face. "I've come to tell you some good news."

"Speak," said Gan Mongting.

"Although I've never met the Commander, I heard from my brother that the Commander has always been collecting exceptionally talented magical beasts or gifted individuals with soul mutations!" Daiman grinned.

"Yes, that is correct," Gan Mongting nodded indifferently.

"This time, although Blade Island was attacked, during my escape, I actually encountered a gifted individual with a soul mutation in the Star Sea!" Daiman continued quickly. "An absolute genius of soul mutation. I personally saw that person fuse darkness and light divine power!"

"What?!"

Gan Mongting was so shocked he stood up immediately.

A soul mutation was very rare. And individuals with such talent would be terrifying in the future!

For example, a powerhouse with a soul mutation—if they reached the Highgod level—simply fusing two different divine powers would increase the power of their attacks tenfold! Even if they used this fused divine power to perform the same profound mystery, its power would be ten times greater than that of a normal person!

Furthermore... only soul mutation powerhouses could fuse profound mysteries from different elemental laws!

For example, Li'ermensi, who eventually fused the profound mysteries of Destruction and Fire.

The fusion of two profound mysteries from different laws was even more powerful than fusing two from the same law!

For instance, Lin Lei's "Earth Pulse"—if he could fuse it with "Dimensional Attack" from the Laws of Wind, the power of such a fusion would be comparable to fusing three profound mysteries of a single law!

Add to that the fusion of two divine powers, and the power increases another tenfold.

A soul mutation powerhouse, by merely fusing two profound mysteries from different laws, would have strength comparable to a Seven-Star Demon!

Whereas an ordinary Highgod typically needed to fuse four profound mysteries to reach the Seven-Star Demon level!

"Where is that person?" Gan Mongting asked urgently.

Daiman said helplessly, "I didn't have the strength to bring him here."

Gan Mongting's expression changed instantly. He sneered, "So even a Five-Star Demon like you didn't have the strength to bring him. It seems this soul mutant has already reached the Highgod level, and probably has fused some profound mysteries as well... What, you want me to go and throw my life away?"

Gan Mongting knew his own strength—he was a Six-Star Demon.

Although he excelled in attack, he had no confidence against a soul mutation powerhouse, especially one whose strength was already fully developed.

Soul mutation powerhouses were monstrous.

Fusing two different divine powers and using an ordinary profound mystery increased its power tenfold! If three could be fused, it would increase a hundredfold! Four... and the power multiplied exponentially.
