In the Sea of Mist, Lin Lei and the others were flying at extreme speed, barely able to see a hundred meters ahead. The sudden appearance of that streak of purple light shocked them all.
A hundred meters was too close — at the speed of that purple light, there was no time to dodge.
*Boom!* A deep, muffled impact.
The purple light slammed hard into Bei Bei's abdomen, and his entire body instantly buckled from the impact. The thick streak of purple turned out to be a cluster of amethyst crystals. The sheer force of the impact actually sent Bei Bei hurtling backward for a brief moment, widening the gap between him and Lin Lei's group.
Olivia had been flying right behind Bei Bei. The impact was so violent that even Olivia was jolted by it, and a thin trickle of blood escaped his lips.
"Bei Bei!" Lin Lei and Dilia both turned to look.
Bei Bei clutched his stomach and was carried back by the gravitational pull. Olivia also drifted back with the current, rejoining Lin Lei and the others. Bei Bei bared his teeth and said, "Boss, those amethyst crystals really pack a punch! They slammed right into my stomach — it hurts like crazy!"
Olivia wiped the corner of his mouth in shock.
Earlier, a single amethyst crystal had pierced straight through Lin Lei's body. And these crystals were capable of shooting outward despite such tremendous gravity — their speed was unimaginable. Yet a whole cluster of them had smashed into Bei Bei's stomach without leaving a single scratch.
Olivia had merely been caught in the shockwave and had coughed up blood. The force of those amethyst crystals could be imagined!
Lin Lei, however, laughed and joked, "Bei Bei, a little stomachache and you get a whole pile of amethyst crystals?" He was well aware of how formidable Bei Bei's physical defense was.
Olivia stared at Bei Bei in astonishment. "Bei Bei, those amethyst crystals hit so hard — how are you...?"
Bei Bei raised his eyebrows proudly. "What? Surprised? Come on, who do you think I am? I'm Bei Bei! Hey, Olivia — who told you to move to the side? Get behind me right now." Bei Bei suddenly barked the order. Having witnessed what just happened, Olivia understood how powerful Bei Bei was and immediately moved behind him.
Lin Lei and Dilia flew one behind the other, with Bei Bei and Olivia doing the same.
In this endless Sea of Mist, they could not resist the gravitational pull and had no choice but to follow it downward.
"Mountaintop!" Bei Bei cried out.
Lin Lei turned to look and saw a mountain peak hurtling toward them out of nowhere.
A mountain peak crashing toward them?
Lin Lei twisted his body sharply, managing to veer sideways just enough. "Huh? How did I dodge that?" He was somewhat surprised — if it had been an amethyst crystal shooting toward him, he wouldn't have been able to react at all. In an instant, he realized: "This mountain peak is stationary!"
"We've reached the Amethyst Mountain Range — we're falling!" Only now did Lin Lei understand their trajectory.
Under the pull of gravity, they had been plummeting alongside the mountain peaks at terrifying speed. The gravitational pull was so tremendous that they were all falling at incredible velocity. The mountain grew wider as it descended, and Lin Lei could clearly see a massive slab of rock suddenly appear before his eyes.
No time to dodge!
*Boom!* All four of them slammed hard into a slab of rock on the mountainside. Even though they'd hit the slope, the tremendous gravity continued to drag them downward, and the four of them began tumbling down the mountainside.
Their bodies kept rolling downward, and the violent collision between his head and the rock left Lin Lei feeling dizzy.
"Dilia!" Lin Lei grabbed Dilia, who was rolling down beside him, while his right hand seized a jutting outcrop of rock, anchoring himself firmly on the mountainside.
Bei Bei also grabbed hold of the rock and stopped rolling. As for Olivia, he kept tumbling downward and was out of sight in moments.
"Heh, heh!" Lin Lei gasped for breath and looked up at Bei Bei beside him. "Bei Bei, where's Olivia?"
"He fell," Bei Bei said quickly. "I didn't have time to grab him."
Lin Lei glanced back at Dilia. She wasn't injured, and he felt relieved. Looking around, the three of them were on the slope of a mountainside, still shrouded in thick white mist — they couldn't see the base of the mountain at all.
"Olivia probably rolled all the way to the bottom," Dilia said. "Should we go down?"
"Let's go — down." Lin Lei could still feel the terrifying gravitational pull. "Be careful — the gravity is too strong. But the rocks in this Amethyst Mountain Range are really something." Holding onto the jutting rock, Lin Lei marveled. The entire mountain range was made of dark red stone.
When he'd crashed headfirst into the mountainside earlier, the rock hadn't even cracked!
"Lin Lei, look — amethyst crystals!" Dilia said with a smile. Scattered among the rocks on the mountainside were one or two crystals here and there.
"They call this the Amethyst Mountain Range — there should be a lot more," Bei Bei muttered. He slammed his fist into the rock with full force, but the dark red stone merely shuddered, producing only a hairline crack. Bei Bei stared in disbelief. "My strongest punch and it won't break!"
As he spoke, Bei Bei flipped out the black dagger.
*Sssszzz~~* The black dagger sliced into the rock, carving out a large fissure. Inside the stone, amidst the dark red rock, scattered amethyst crystals glistened.
"There really are amethyst crystals inside the stone," Bei Bei said with a grin. He then shook his head. "But what a pain. This dagger of mine can cut through even a Highgod artifact, yet I can only manage a crack in this rock. And the crystals are embedded in the broken stone — extracting them would be a nightmare."
"Come on, forget the amethyst crystals — let's get down first."
Lin Lei took the lead and made his way downward.
The Amethyst Mountain Range was completely enveloped in white mist.
But the true face of the Amethyst Mountain Range was not described by anyone in the outside world. No one who had passed through the Sea of Mist and set foot in the Amethyst Mountain Range had ever escaped. And now, Lin Lei and the others were walking upon it — they had even reached the foot of the mountain.
"The white mist seems thinner here!" Bei Bei looked around and said.
At the base, the mist had thinned enough for them to see about two hundred meters ahead.
"Olivia!" Lin Lei spotted a figure not far away at a glance. "Bei Bei, Dilia, let's go over."
Olivia was looking around with a worried expression. The surrounding mist was thick and hazy. He had tumbled all the way down and finally leaped to land at the mountain's base, but he couldn't see anyone else — only a bloody corpse that had been smashed to pieces upon impact.
