Disaster!
Lin Lei, Olivia, and De Sili had barely finished the arduous task of killing Bomonte when countless powerful figures erupted from beneath the Bosha Dam like a swarm of locusts. The auras of many among them made Lin Lei and Olivia's hearts tremble with fear.
Then Beirut appeared.
A single palm sealed the opening that had released the countless powerhouses.
Seeing the livid expression on Beirut's face, all three of them—Lin Lei, Olivia, and De Sili—felt a wave of bewilderment and panic wash over them.
"What... what exactly is going on?" The rapid chain of events had them reeling.
"I'll deal with you three later." Beirut let out a cold snort toward the three of them, then dove straight downward. The vast waters of the Yulan River parted around him, and only then did Lin Lei and the others realize that a spatial gate lay beneath the Bosha Dam.
The spatial gate was already completely sealed by black energy.
"Beneath the Bosha Dam lies a passage to another space." All three of them understood at once.
De Sili transmitted via soul voice: "Olivia, that strike of yours must have shattered a massive magical array. Look—there are still remnants of the broken array all around." And indeed, beneath the Bosha Dam lay an extraordinarily intricate magical array.
It was precisely this enormous, complex magical array that had sealed the spatial gate shut.
Streams of black energy seeped from Beirut's body, and below, the complex magical array slowly began to reform. This array was hundreds, even thousands of times more intricate than any Lin Lei had ever seen. Even the magical array in the depths of the Misty Valley within the Magic Beast Mountain Range—the one with the Purple Blood Soft Sword thrust into it—paled in comparison to the complexity of this one.
"This array..."
Lin Lei stared at the remnants of the colossal array exposed on the riverbed—its ancient aura, its profound and intricate lines of every sort. He could more or less make out the arrays behind ordinary seventh- or eighth-tier magic. But this array... he was completely lost.
Complex!
Profound!
It took Beirut nearly a full hour to completely restore the damaged array.
"Hsss, hisss~~" Beirut extended both hands, and the shattered black stones of the Bosha Dam melted as if licked by flame, fusing together once more into a single mass that reformed the dam. The reconstructed Bosha Dam, hovering before Beirut, slowly descended and covered the massive array beneath it.
"Boom!"
The Bosha Dam sank deep into the riverbed. At the same time, the vast waters that had been parted came crashing back against the dam and continued to flow just as they always had.
"Olivia's strike must have sliced clean through the Bosha Dam and destroyed that massive magical array. That's what allowed all those powerhouses from the other side of the spatial gate to rush straight in." Lin Lei quickly pieced together the deduction.
At the same time, he couldn't help but marvel inwardly: "The power of this array is truly astonishing—to think it could seal away so many powerhouses."
The mysteries of magical arrays were vast and profound indeed.
Unfortunately, Lin Lei had never studied them, nor did he have the time or energy to do so.
Beirut glanced into the distance. The enormous commotion here had attracted the attention of many ordinary people far away, who were now gazing toward them from afar.
"Come with me." Beirut cast a cold glance at Lin Lei, Olivia, and De Sili, then flew straight north. None of the three dared utter a word and obediently followed behind him.
Along the way, De Sili quietly transmitted via soul voice: "Lin Lei, Olivia—how many powerhouses do you think we accidentally released?"
Olivia said nothing.
After all, he was the one who had caused this catastrophe.
"It was only a brief moment, but I think..." Lin Lei recalled the nightmarish sight of figures pouring out in a dense, swarming mass. "In that short time, at least a thousand must have gotten through." He wasn't certain exactly how many powerhouses had entered the Yulan Continent.
"This was my mistake. I'll take responsibility for it." Olivia's voice echoed in Lin Lei and De Sili's minds.
"Hmph, take responsibility? How exactly do you plan to take responsibility?" Beirut's cold snort rang out, and his rapidly flying figure came to an abrupt halt.
Below stretched an endless range of mountains. Lin Lei, Olivia, and De Sili hurried to stop as well, standing respectfully before Beirut. But all three were deeply shaken... Olivia had been transmitting privately to Lin Lei and De Sili just now.
Yet Beirut had heard every word.
"Olivia, do you have any idea what kind of disaster you've caused?" Beirut snorted coldly.
Olivia gritted his teeth and forced himself to look up at Beirut: "Lord Beirut, I will do my very best to bear all the consequences."
"Bear them? You can't even repair the sealing array set by a Sovereign, and you talk about bearing responsibility?" Beirut snorted.
Set by a Sovereign?
Lin Lei and the others were struck dumb. A Sovereign was impossibly far removed—that was practically a part of the laws of heaven and earth themselves!
"This time, I think we've really stirred up something enormous." Lin Lei could feel it too—they had truly caused a disaster of immense proportions.
"To repair this sealing array alone requires the power of a Highgod. Olivia, can you repair it?" Beirut shot him a cold look. Olivia didn't dare speak now; he understood that the situation was dire.
Lin Lei's mind, however, stirred.
It was obvious...
"Beirut must be a Highgod," he concluded silently.
"Lord Beirut." Lin Lei spoke up, looking at Beirut.
"Speak." Beirut nodded calmly.
