The seven fire snakes flew at incredible speed. Wherever they passed through the air, even the houses lining the streets of the small town burst into flames, towers of fire soaring into the sky—a scene of utter devastation. The common folk of Wushan Town, who had long since retreated to a safe distance to watch, saw their homes being destroyed, and one by one, their hearts filled with grief and sorrow.
Before the seven colossal fire snakes, row after row of stone houses crumbled like toys, easily reduced to ruins as flames engulfed the sky.
"Move!" The female archer had no time to worry about anything else—she immediately urged her Griffin to fly high into the air.
A fire-system mage's control over the seven fire snakes had a range limit. As long as the female archer flew beyond that range, she would be safe.
"Ssssss!" Two of the fire snakes intertwined, wrapping around the two female mages and the Bloodthirsty Iron Bull. An immediate sizzling sound of burning flesh rang out, and Lin Lei even caught the smell of singed hair.
"Big Brother Kailai, save us—" The female mage's agonized scream echoed from within the fire snakes.
"Hmph, hmph~~" The Bloodthirsty Iron Bull's eyes were blood-red, terrifying to behold. Its entire body of muscle twisted and contorted as it kept bellowing in fury, trying to break free from the fire snakes' restraint, but the binding force of each fire snake was horrifyingly powerful.
"Louisa!" The red-haired brawny man let out a pained, anguished roar.
The two beautiful female mages and the Bloodthirsty Iron Bull were reduced to ash in the blink of an eye. But before the red-haired man could even process his grief, he and the other two male warriors each found themselves facing a massive fire snake. Before those enormous serpents, they were as helpless as infants.
Even a punch that could shatter stone—once coiled by a fire snake's body, what could they do?
"Ahhh~~~" The three warriors, engulfed by fire snakes, let out shrill screams.
Amid the screaming, their Dou Qi Shields shattered instantly, followed by the sizzling sound of searing. The muscles on the three warriors' faces twitched and contorted, their eyes bulging from their sockets. Every strand of hair on their bodies was burned away in an instant, and then their skin, muscle, bone… under the terrifying, scorching temperatures of the fire snakes, nothing could withstand the heat.
The three formidable warriors were burned to ash in a matter of moments.
"Whoosh, whoosh—"
The female archer gasped for breath. She had finally escaped the range of the Fire Snake Dance.
"Louge, Louisa, Big Brother Kailai… I will avenge you, I swear I will," the female archer wept bitterly. Then she mounted her Griffin and flew up into the sky.
"Boom!"
A massive bolt of lightning suddenly descended from midair, striking the unprepared female archer squarely. Her entire body was instantly reduced to ash by the strike, while the Griffin, its body charred black, convulsed as it plummeted from the sky, crashing heavily onto a civilian's stone house. It smashed through the roof and tumbled inside.
"You think you can run? Hmph." The mysterious mage let out a cold snort.
A hundred meters away, watching the entire scene unfold, Hillman swallowed hard, a trace of barely suppressed terror rising in his heart: "An eighth-level mage… and a dual-system mage at that."
…
"That's called Fire Snake Dance?" Lin Lei stood rooted to the spot, completely stunned.
The spectacle of those seven colossal fire snakes surging into the air, waves of searing heat billowing outward, had shaken him to his core like nothing before. Each of the giant fire snakes was roughly the same size as a Rapid Dragon. Seven of them rising at once—it was like the arrival of total disaster. Houses burned and collapsed, flames roiling to the heavens.
In the blink of an eye, those four powerful warriors, two mages, one archer, and two magic beasts were all dead. With the exception of the Griffin, whose fate was unknown, not a single one had survived.
The seven colossal fire snakes had vanished, but Lin Lei could still feel the terrifying waves of heat radiating from the battlefield. The area where the fight had taken place was nothing but a field of rubble. That expanse of ruins and the ever-present surging heat waves seemed to tell the story of the devastating battle that had just occurred.
"So… so powerful."
Lin Lei's breathing was still somewhat ragged. In his mind, over and over, the image replayed—seven colossal fire snakes rising into the sky, an onslaught like the descent of catastrophe.
Compared to that sight, even the terrifying Rapid Dragon seemed to pale slightly.
