Leilin studied his two children at this moment.
Among them, Daniel was the eldest son, and he had inherited Leilin's Devouring and Dream powers. He was styled as the World Serpent Jörmungandr, while Xirui was the legitimate heir, having inherited Leilin's power of Infinity. He was styled as the Infinite Serpent Ouroboros.
At present, it was clearly Daniel who had the upper hand. With the guidance of a matured bloodline power, he had reached the pinnacle of the sixth-level Warlock rank.
However, though Xirui could not yet compare to his elder brother, what he had inherited was Leilin's power of Infinity. Although he had been lost and uncertain at first, that meant limitless possibilities!
"The bloodlines of both of them need fine-tuning!"
As the progenitor of the bloodline itself, Leilin had made his judgment the moment he laid eyes on his two children's bloodlines.
Other Warlock families, when inheriting the bloodline of their ancestors, would often also inherit more negative emotions—even curses—becoming an original sin borne from birth.
But Leilin's Targaryen Winged Serpent Family clearly had no such drawback.
As the progenitor of the bloodline, and one who possessed the Chip, Leilin could adjust his own descendants' bloodlines at any time, avoiding certain flaws and deficiencies.
It was precisely because of this that among his clan, there were very few of the madmen or obsessives found in other Warlock families—a clan truly blessed by the world.
Furthermore, after Leilin had elevated the Bloodline Origin, these descendants now had even greater room for advancement.
Over the days that followed, Leilin spent his time in the Targaryen Fortress, enjoying the simple grandfatherly pleasures of playing with his grandchildren.
Though it might sound strange, that was simply how it was.
Not only grandchildren—he had a whole pile of great-grandchildren as well, and the women he had left behind previously all needed to be properly reassured and comforted.
Behind the scenes, he also had to continue adjusting the two bloodline branches—Ouroboros and Jörmungandr—refining their bloodline foundations, excising stray and defective genes, to prevent his descendants from developing any immune deficiencies or diseases.
Yet in secret, the preparations to access the Dream World were already underway.
"The flow of time in the
After a lavish banquet, Leilin arrived at his laboratory. Looking at the crystal ball in his hand, his expression was quite peculiar.
At tonight's banquet, he had not only hosted several elders of the Circle of the Ouroboros—he had even invited several sixth-level Wizards from across the continent.
It had to be said, when he had been only a half-seventh-level, these people had been virtually ants before him. Now, that was even more the case.
When his own two sons could thrash every single Solar Throne holder and sweep across the continent, no amount of bullying the weak could hold any interest for Leilin anymore.
He had merely let slip a hint—he hadn't even issued a direct command—yet his sons, grandsons, and subordinates who had learned to read his intentions had already pressured the Sky Throne into handing over everything related to the
However, at Leilin's level, he had no desire to simply rob some poor soul. That would give him the awkward feeling of bullying a child. So he ordered the vault opened and casually selected a few items to compensate the
"The Wizard World's Sky City should be the primitive version of the Arcane Masters' Floating City…"
The Chip's glow flickered. The data within the crystal ball had been fully copied and scanned, then compared against the Phantom City.
This way, many questions were laid bare.
"So the Sky City really is Wizard technology, but the Arcane Masters inherited and improved upon it… They added the function of a Planar Fortress, transforming what was originally a fortress for sixth-level Wizards into a weapon that could rival the divine kingdoms of gods…"
It was not always the case that ancient things were better. At the very least, the Arcane Masters' innovations regarding the Floating City were enough to make every Wizard blush with shame. Of course, it was also possible they had been inspired by the Shadow of
Naturally, none of this mattered to Leilin. What he valued was that this primitive Sky City data could serve as a reference for his own operation of the Phantom City. That was more than enough!
No need to agonize over ancient versus modern, no need to fuss over factions or rank classifications—as long as it was beneficial, use it directly; if harmful, discard it outright.
All things under heaven revolve around me, to be used by me!
This was the essential philosophy of all truly great emperors and powerhouses of old, and it was also the creed of all Rule Wizards!
Seek the true and absolute "Truth," and use it to govern all things, to obtain power! This was the fundamental nature of Wizards.
"It seems that although supernatural power couldn't develop in my previous life due to the constraints of the world's rules, the underlying philosophies were still remarkably similar…"
Leilin nodded.
Ding! The Sky City technical data has been organized! Filed under Technical Database—Floating City—Ancient Floating City folder! Completion rate: 0%! Estimated improvement to Phantom City utilization: 9.5%!
The Chip's faithful notification came through.
"As expected of outdated data—it can only serve as a model, a source of conceptual inspiration. An improvement of nearly zero is about as good as it gets…"
The Phantom City, obtained from Frostfall Canyon, had always been Leilin's hidden ace, and he had relentlessly poured resources into strengthening it.
In the ancient era, the combination of Grand Arcane Masters and Floating Cities was something that made even the gods tremble with fear—until they finally went all out to destroy it.
And now, the devastating weapon Leilin had hidden away would one day surface, opening its terrifying maw against the gods…
"Chip! Transmit the data to the subsidiary system!"
Leilin commanded. With the Disk of Mandehock, the connection to the World of the Gods was even tighter, and he trusted that his demigod clone, quietly building power over there, would make good use of this.
After settling these miscellaneous matters, Leilin finally approached the workbench and got down to serious business.
"The Dream World…"
Leilin murmured. Dark crimson Dream Power materialized from the surrounding void, rippling with a hazy, somber glow.
Under the illumination of this light, strange and cryptic patterns surfaced across his body, and a blood-red vertical eye appeared and disappeared between his brows.
During this particular period, when the Dream World lay dormant and Dream Power had fallen into a trough, any Dream creature struggled merely to survive. Even the Dream Evil Gods had been forced to seal themselves away. Dream creatures stranded in other worlds had it even worse—simply drawing upon Dream Power became excruciatingly difficult, and their strength plummeted.
But none of this posed the slightest problem for Leilin.
"A mere thought, and this magnitude of Dream Power responds… and this is during a time when the world's primal energy is depleted…"
Leilin's eyes held a sense of wonder. "Truly worthy of the Nightmare Absorption Physique—perhaps comparable to the authority a Lord of Hell wields in
Leilin was no stranger to Dream Power.
Back when he was still a fifth-level Warlock, he had already explored the Dream World. Later, after obtaining part of the Bloodline Origin of the Myriad Serpents—and particularly after absorbing some of the dream-related talents of the Devil White Phosphorus Serpent clan—the original Leilin had been considered a skilled wielder of Dream Power, and his compatibility with the Dream World had been exceptionally high.
But now, compared to the Nightmare Absorption Physique, all of that was utter rubbish! No—it wasn't even comparable in the slightest!
Sensing the entire Dream World calling out to him, feeling the strange boost of primal energy resonance, Leilin's face was filled with intoxication.
"I originally thought that the Devil White Phosphorus Serpent's ability to slip freely into the Dream World was already heaven-defying, but compared to the bloodline of the Nightmare King, it's absolutely nothing…"
If the Devil White Phosphorus Serpent was like a common citizen within the Dream World, then the Nightmare Absorption Physique was at least the level of the Crown Prince—or perhaps even higher. It was practically the Emperor himself! Aside from the Dream
"No wonder the Nightmare King who obtained this bloodline rose so rapidly and was unstoppable—it was practically cheating…"
Just a single connection with the Dream World made Leilin feel incomparably powerful.
Within the Dream World's domain, he would even dare to challenge the Mother of Myriad Serpents alone!
"What a shame… I have no mortal enemies right now. Otherwise, if I lured them all into the Dream World, I could absolutely bleed them dry—or even cause them to fall outright…"
A flood of schemes surged through Leilin's mind. Combining the Chip with the Dream World's home-field advantage, even against the Myriad Serpents or the Vile Bird, he had a sixty percent chance of causing them to perish there.
"What a shame… After reaching the rank of Rule Wizard, one can no longer act on momentary bloodlust…"
Leilin sighed to himself. After advancing to seventh-level Warlock, he had gained some understanding of the rules of this circle.
Because Rule Wizards were too powerful—and more importantly, too difficult to kill—even when they died, they could easily be resurrected. As a result, many beings were mutually wary of one another, reaching tacit compromises.
Rashly declaring war would easily lead to one's own isolation.
More importantly, his current relationship with the Myriad Serpents was still reasonably good—they still needed his help, after all—and he had no real death feud with the Vile Bird either. There was no need to go that far.
Of course, if those supreme beings from the Purgatory World were still resentful over their last loss and couldn't let go of their grudge, Leilin would have no qualms about teaching them a brutal lesson!
On the other hand, there were also considerations of united-front work.
The pie of the World of the Gods was rather large. If Leilin alone tried to wage war against the gods, he would certainly be gang-beaten to death. Therefore, bringing in external allies was something he had no choice but to consider.
