I am Pakira. A cat-folk, I am. Seventeen years of age, if you must know.

Third-rank delver, affiliated with Four Star.

My days are fairly hectic and pleasant — not bad, all things considered.

Among my acquaintances, there's a boy named Wof.

Four years my junior at thirteen, but he's... well, he's the sort of fellow who raises all sorts of questions.

He's definitely not normal.

After all, he's that witch's disciple.

My connection with him — let me see.

It started when we were saved at the brink of death.

That said, mind you, it's been less than a year since then, surprisingly enough.

Since then, we've all grown.

I myself have gotten stronger, partly thanks to Wof's help, I'd say.

"Still... this sort of strength is a bit much, wouldn't you say?"

"Mmm... this is insanely dangerous..."

"Wh-what is it?"

"What happened?! For starters, what's with that staff?"

My party members are all dumbfounded, too.

I'm stunned myself.

It all happened the day before yesterday.

I was told that what's displayed in Wof's room isn't me but a wooden statue of Yomid.

No matter how you look at it, it resembles me... and on top of that, she claims to have met that Yomid.

On that point, I can see why she'd say that.

She held auditions for the Wind's King of Death and actually made Anemos the Wind's King of Death, after all.

Between being acquainted with a god and that witch...

What in the world is going on with that person's social circle?

But I never expected to be specifically requested to meet Yomid.

And Yomid is also a cat-person race. No, a cat-god race, I should say.

By the way.

The one our country worshipped was the Cat God Mikenyame.

Not a god of the cat-person race, but a god who was a cat.

Its appearance was just a cat, plain and simple.

Though it was a large cat with three eyes.

Could it have been Yomid's pet, perhaps?

I'd like to ask her about that next time we meet.

Well, the country doesn't exist anymore, so the ones who used to do the worshipping might still be around somewhere, I suppose.

As for me, not so much.

Worship a cat god even though I'm of the cat-person race? I don't know about that.

Maybe that's why the great temple in the royal capital was nothing but cats everywhere and had practically become a cat temple.

It was a popular tourist spot, mind you, but I was never all that fond of it.

But well, I suppose that's fine.

I suppose it's okay to worship Yomid, too.

It's embarrassing since she looks just like me, though.

She gave me a staff from Yomid. The Staff of Avgründ.

This OOPArt has two effects.

One of them is that it bestows the dark attribute onto held Relics.

I immediately tried it out in Wof's dungeon.

First, I tested it on a weak monster, a Kobold.

As usual, I launched a fireball, and to my surprise, black-purple flames shot out.

So this black-purple color is what they call the dark attribute.

The black-purple flames clung to the Kobold and burned it.

After waiting a moment, it vanished along with the flames.

"Hmm. It's hard to say."

"Why don't you try it on a stronger monster?"

"Indeed."

"Hmm... In that case... the boss on the 40th floor..."

"That sounds good."

"Hmm. Shall we give it a try?"

I'm pretty sure the boss on the 40th floor was a four-armed Minos Unit.

It's a rather formidable boss.

So I tried it on that boss.

The black-purple flames burned the Minos Unit.

They just kept burning and burning.

They burned until the Minos Unit was completely gone.

"It seems the Relic has a persistent effect."

'Hellfire.'

"It's like poison, huh."

"Mn… strong…"

"Hmm… let me try the wind variant too, shall I?"

So I decided to try it on the giant five-eyed scorpion on the 50th floor too.

After the black-purple wind blades slashed the scorpion's tail, swirling wind clung to it.

That continued until the scorpion was gone.

"As expected, it does have persistence."

'That's irritating.'

"The wind is more about disruption than damage, huh."

"Mn… powerful…"

"…Let me try the light one next."

The black-purple light pierced the giant skeleton on the 65th floor, and the light lingered in a circle.

Being within the range of that light felt like taking damage.

"It's a persistent damage circle."

<If it's undead, it seems like it could purify them.>

"It's dark attribute, so..."

"Hmm... that light there..."

"Hmm."

Dark attribute fire keeps burning until the monster is completely consumed.

Dark attribute wind keeps swirling and clinging until the monster vanishes.

Dark attribute light leaves its traces behind until the monster vanishes.

Well, something like that, I guess.

Wait, that's way too strong! The persistence is insane!

"Pakira. You've obtained something truly extraordinary, haven't you."

"Y-Yes, indeed."

<The breadth of our strategy has expanded.>

"Indeed."

"There are still other Relics you were granted, right? Honestly, when you said you'd suddenly met Yomido, I was worried, but this is incredible."

"Hmm... those who believe... shall be saved."

The constraint Relic was terrifying no matter how you looked at it.

What was even more of a problem was—this.

True Divinization God [Yomido]: Become the goddess Yomido. Active time: 3 minutes. Cooldown: 6 days.

Not some imitation, but the genuine divinization god. And it was Yomido.

"...I'll hold off on this one."

Well then, that settles that.

I suppose I'll ask Wof about the King of Death.

He did say it was someone he knew, but I haven't the faintest clue who.

Could it be that fellow?

Now that I think about it, he was at the audition for the King of the Death Wind. For some reason.

I thought he was a thoroughly dubious man, but still — to think it was him.

Yes, that must be it.

Ambrosius.
