■ Dungeon My Knife:
The knives that were lost during Seasons 1 through the first half of Season 4.
■ Knife #1
● First appearance: Wof, 13 Years Old ⑤
● How it was lost:
The first knife I ever owned.
It was cheap, but I'd sharpened it myself and used it as a kitchen knife too.
● Cause of death:
I looked away for a second, and the knife went snap and broke clean in half.
Part of the leather armor I was struggling to get off had metal bits in it.
The blade caught on something at a weird angle, went crack, and that was the end of that.
■ Knife #2
● First appearance: Ash Blossom (3), Holy Edge.
● How it was lost:
I bought this knife after the first one broke.
It looked similar to the previous one.
● Cause of death:
First, I took the egg container out of my pouch.
I poured the contents onto the knife blade. The wet knife glimmered in the light.
Result: it couldn't cut anymore.
■The Third Knife
●First appearance: The Quiet One, Part 4
●Victim:
The knife I splurged on for 20,000 oro.
●Cause of death:
Wiped out by the Relic [Banish] thanks to Wof's carelessness.
■The Fourth Knife
●First appearance: Crown of the Wonderland, Part 4
●Victim:
A secondhand knife.
Simple build, thick. A bit heavy. Sturdy.
●Cause of death:
It lunged at me with a thrusting strike, but I calmly blocked with my knife.
When the blade made contact—my knife's blade was severed.
"Wha—!?"
No, that's wrong. I could tell. It wasn't severed. It was erased.
■The Fifth Knife
●First appearance: The Junkyard Resumes, Part 3 — The Bone-Pulling, Marrow-Extracting, Shura-Grasping Hunting Hand.
●Victim:
A knife I found in the Junkyard. Some kind of tribal knife.
A large, warped black single-edged blade. A round sword guard, vaguely reminiscent of a katana's tsuba.
The grip was smooth white stone. The sheath was hard wood.
●Cause of death:
But Body A twisted its left arm around and used it as a blade.
It swung down as it charged, and I stepped forward to block with the knife.
The instant they connected, the knife's blade melted.
■Knife Number Six
●First appearance: Tassan of the Ring (2)
●Victim:
One of three I bought for 50,000 oro.
A simple knife. Turns out it was from the standard series.
●Cause of death
Pies raised its sword, and I blocked with the knife again — then let go in an instant.
The knife cracked against the blade and dropped; I leaped away.
I left it where it fell and forgot about it.
■Knife Number Seven:
●First appearance: Cat and Dog ⑥
●Victim:
The second of the knives I bought for 50,000 oro. A strange knife with a single edge that curved upward.
A bit heavy, but thick with real stopping power.
●Cause of death:
Only the hand holding the knife was flash-frozen.
Wh—why!?!
"Goddammit, why just this side!?"
Irritated, I cast Banish. If I didn't hurry, I'd get frostbite.
The ice around my hand and the knife's grip vanished.
The blade dropped.
●Revival:
After that, Pakira found it and handed it to Wof.
It was reborn as a new double-edged knife.
■Eighth one:
●First appearance: Grave of Death ④ — Yomido's Saturnus. Grave of Death ⑥ — Rest in Peace.
●Victim:
The elixir knife. A knife slathered in elixir, turned into an anti-undead weapon.
●Cause of death:
During the fight with Saturnus, I used Silent Move.
The elixir knife broke. I'll say that again. The elixir knife broke.
The elixir knife I was gripping hard had almost no blade left.
It wasn't a clean snap in half — it had broken somewhere in the middle with a clean *crack*.
It was broken diagonally from the base, with a large chunk missing. A whole section of the blade was simply gone.
■Knife #9:
●First appearance: Fifth-Rank Delver, Part 1
●Victim:
Agaro's knife. A wide, long knife with a red blade.
●Cause of death:
The blade flexed in a double wobble and Riv charged in.
I swung down while catching the blow on the knife.
A strong impact and pressure — and at that moment, I felt a strange weight in the knife.
I sensed danger and tried to pull back, but my body wouldn't move.
The blade's wobble came to an abrupt halt.
"Crash Edge."
The knife shattered.
●Resurrection:
A mysterious nanomachine capsule from Riv's belongings.
I put the knife fragments and a piece of unobtanium inside, and it became Agaro's Knife Mark II.
■Knife #10:
●First appearance: Arc Lab, Part 4
●Victim:
A crumbly knife that had been sitting under a piece of wood.
●Cause of death:
What's going on here? Well, I guess I have no choice but to believe it for now.
As I walked, there was a crunching, cracking sound of something breaking underfoot.
"What was that?"
"What's that?"
I looked down and saw wooden planks. Pieces from a wooden crate.
Under one of those pieces was a rusty knife.
It had corroded so badly that it shattered just from being stepped on.
■Number 11
●First appearance: Prelude 1
●Victim:
A plain knife I picked up in the vestry of the church in the deepest part of the Tomb of Death.
●Cause of death:
A barbecue party at Arc Lab.
It was from the deepest part of the Tomb of Death, but just an ordinary knife with nothing special about it. Alright. I'll use it.
The meat was cut thick, so it'd be better to slice it thin. So I went with a wide blade, and the meat looked a little tough too.
In that case, I'd just bring the blade down in one go.
"Hold on! That meat's got bones in it!"
The blade bit hard into something solid with a grating crunch.
As I pulled with all my strength to wrench it free — the knife split apart diagonally with a sharp crack.
■Twelfth
●First seen: Quiet Hydrangea ⑥ · Dog Search.
●Sacrifice:
Scarlet-sheathed short sword: a straight blade with a black-lacquered handle. Inverted clove hamon.
Double-edged knife: black semicircular guard and pure white handle.
A double-edged blade with a metal ring on the pommel. Cuts well.
●Cause of death:
Still surprised, I swung the short sword at Arveld on pure instinct.
"[Crash]"
The short sword shattered.
Before I could recover from my shock, Arveld was right in front of me.
Reflexively, I slashed with the double-edged knife.
"[Crash]"
The double-edged knife shattered.
■Thirteenth
●First seen:
Dependent Warrior
⑨ · Training Begins.
●Sacrifice:
The Goddess of the Knife's protective charm knife: a beautiful knife like a pure white feather.
Commemorative item: the 10th knife I broke.
●Cause of death:
The chimera's eyeball is big. About the size of a baseball.
The knife melted when I tried to extract it.
"…………"
I had a bad feeling. I really did.
So when I slipped the Goddess of the Knife's protective charm knife behind the eyeball and tried to pry it out,
a thick, syrupy solvent oozed from the gap with a hiss and a puff of smoke. When I pulled the knife back out,
the blade was dissolving with smoke and a sickening sizzle.
I panicked and tossed it aside, and it melted completely.
■Knife 14
●First appearance: Late-Night Festival (3), final battle.
●Sacrifice:
Agaro's knife, modified: a blade like blue flame.
It ripples like an LCD panel.
It can cut through phenomena and concepts.
●Cause of death:
When I closed the distance, Agaro — in a move that was so uncharacteristically careless — swung Somber Gladius without a care.
The slash spiraled black.
I caught it with Agaro's knife, modified. The blade vanished clean through in an instant.
"Huh."
The tip was erased as though tracing an arc.
■ Number 15
● First Appearance: Midnight Festival (3) · Final Battle.
● Sacrifice:
Thick, square knife: when drawn, the handle curves into a shape like a cleaver.
Housed in a leather sheath, the blade is pitch-black and square when drawn.
● Cause of Death:
The second black vortex slash sacrificed the knife I had just bought.
■ Number 16
● First Appearance: Midnight Festival (3) · Final Battle.
● Sacrifice:
Silver cross-shaped knife: something found in a desert dungeon.
● Cause of Death:
The third spiraling sword slash annihilated the silver cross-shaped knife.
■ Number 17
● First Appearance: Ruins of Avsdrakud (1)
● Sacrifice:
Plain-handled, straight double-edged knife: a war trophy.
● Cause of Death:
There was a broken door along the way that looked like it could swing open any moment. Looking closer, it was warped.
I slipped the plain-handled, straight double-edged knife into the gap in the door.
After trying a few, this one was just the right thickness.
I gripped the knife's handle hard and wrenched it.
With a snap, the door came loose. It crashed down.
Along with the knife's blade.
Clang, clatter — the broken blade fell to the ground.
■Number 18
●First Appearance: Our Journey: Preparation Arc (2) — Kaede Akima's Style.
●Sacrifice:
The black-bladed knife breaks. No — it was cut apart by Kaede.
●Cause of Death:
The black-bladed knife breaks. No — it was cut apart by Kaede.
■Number 19
●First Appearance: Our Journey: Preparation Arc (2) — Kaede Akima's Style.
●Sacrifice:
The saw-toothed knife.
●Cause of Death:
I hurriedly pulled out another... saw-toothed knife and took a stance.
I deflected her slash. The saw portion of the saw-toothed knife chipped away.
It snapped off cleanly from there. Anti-climactic.
■ Number Twenty
● First Appearance: Our Journey: Preparation Arc (2) – Kaede Akima's Style.
● Victim:
"Songeater"
● Cause of Death:
Her blade had completely tangled with the comb of Songeater.
All that was left was a twist, and the sword would break. That was how it worked.
"How about we call it here? I'm going to break it."
A cheap bluff. I wasn't used to this.
Come to think of it, how could she see so accurately with a blindfold on?
"…Not yet, not yet at all, Lord Wof. This one has not yet had enough play. Besides, the Kiichi Hōgan is not the kind of
demonic
forge-craft
blade
that breaks from something like this."
Kaede's mouth curved into a smirk, clearly amused, and she pulled her sword back.
An obvious act of self-destruction. But what shattered the instant she pulled her blade back was Songeater.
"—!"
The comb-like edge crumbled away in pieces.
■21st One
●First Appearance: Our Journey: Travelogue Arc (3) – Wof and the Spoils.
●Sacrifice:
A spoils knife.
●Cause of Death:
Stacking the first sword breaker on top.
Sliding the blade into the gap of the now brush-shaped weapon.
The gap was open just enough — perfect for catching a blade.
"I'll just use the lever principle—"
Snap… the knife broke.
It broke with absurd ease.
■22nd–27th Ones
●First Appearance: Our Journey: Travelogue Arc (3) – Wof and the Spoils.
●Sacrifice:
Five assorted spoils knives.
●Cause of Death:
Chips, rust, and caked-on blood or grime all get cleaned with Banish.
Same goes for blades coated in poison — those get Banished too.
■27th–33rd Ones
●First Appearance: Trading City Haizen ⑦ – The Hideout, Revealed in Full.
●Victims:
Various knives from the river bandits' loot.
●Cause of death:
Sorting through the loot knives once again.
The worthless ones get Banished one after another. About six of them, I think.
May they rest in peace.
