Note: There are spoilers. Also, some behind-the-scenes settings that have little relevance to the main story will appear here.

• Reincarnators One class at Heishin High School was wiped out by a mysterious explosion. These are the students and teachers from that class, reincarnated in another world.

Shiro / No Name Called "Shiro" in the story and "Spider Girl" outside of it, she's the protagonist whose real name is almost never spoken. Can't be helped — it never came up. Starting from the weakest class of spider monster, she clawed her way up to godhood through sheer grit and willpower, making her an irregular by nature. Although she's technically a reincarnator, unlike the others, she wasn't human in her past life. Her true identity is an actual spider into whose mind D implanted the memories of Hiiro as a substitute. She's currently active, having learned the secret of her own birth and the truth of the world. It's pretty much her fault for number three. The chaos in the modern world? Basically her fault too. Is this really okay for a protagonist?

Sofia / Shoko Negishi Daughter of the lord of the Keren territory in the Sariela Kingdom. A true ancestor born as a vampire. She lost her parents when she got caught up in the war between the Goddess Religion and the Divine Word Religion, and on top of that nearly got killed by , only to be picked up by Shiro and the Demon King. After that, she went through what was essentially a "Spider-style Intensive Training Camp" — a euphemism for their travels — and grew into a fine young lady. So fine, in fact, that her deceased parents would probably be rolling in their graves with bulging eyes. She now serves as a member of the Demon King's Army, working under Shiro in various capacities. In her past life, she had a miserable youth — bullied and shunned because of her looks. That left her with a slightly twisted personality. She reincarnated as a beauty and thought "my time has come," only to find that what awaited her was an era of upheaval. What a punchline.

Lars / Kyoya Sasajima Born as a goblin in a corner of the Demon Mountains that divide the territories of the human race and the Demon race. He just wanted to live a humble goblin life, but his village was raided by a human squad led by the Summoner Builems. Most of the village goblins were slaughtered, and he himself ended up enslaved under Builems. The fury of that moment earned him the Skill of . After overthrowing Builems, he rampaged to his heart's content, driven by that wrath. After evolving into an Ogre, he fought Sofia, and the shock of that battle restored his reason. He now works as a member of the Demon King's Army. In his past life, he was one of Shun's close friends — a guy with a strong sense of justice who hated anything crooked or underhanded.

Shun / Shunsuke Yamada The fifth prince of the Analeit Kingdom. He inherited the will of his full brother , who had been the Hero, and became the Hero himself. An unfortunate man, he's an unfortunate soul who was set up and forced into battle by a certain spider's schemes. Despite all that, he kept pushing forward — only to get hit with the Taboo installation. Which way will Shunsuke's future go!? In his past life, he was thoroughly average and unremarkable. His one saving grace was gaming — he skipped studying to spend his youth buried in video games, making him a bit of a looser. But on the flip side, maintaining average grades while doing nothing but gaming means his hidden specs were actually quite high. Those latent specs exploded upon reincarnation. But the string of bad luck that followed? Mostly a certain spider's fault.

Kathia / Kanata Oshima A young lady from a ducal house in the Analeit Kingdom. Used to be a guy, now a girl. She's doing her best to support Shun, her friend from their past life. Somewhere along the way, she fell for Shun, and when a coup d'état erupted in the kingdom, she completely gave in to her feelings. Used to be a man, yet now she's the spitting image of a carnivorous woman hunting her prey. In her past life, she was bossed around by two carnivorous older sisters, which left her with a distrust of women. But she also had a girlish side that harbored romantic fantasies. The result: a TS carnivorous woman is born. How did it come to this!? Which way will Shunsuke's future go!?

Filimes / Kanami Okazaki Born in the as the daughter of the Elf Chief. Like the protagonist, she's more often called "Teacher" than by her actual name. The only adult among the reincarnators, and a former teacher. She's believed to be Potimas's daughter, but in reality she's a high-spec elf created and adjusted by Potimas's hand — essentially the daughter of Potimas's clone. A pitiful soul who was manipulated by the Student Roster — a Skill given to her by a certain evil god who thought it would make things more interesting — and exploited by Potimas as well. Driven by a sense of duty as a teacher, she went around protecting the reincarnators, but that backfired. As she herself says, she had to put on a persona to properly face her students, and without the sense of duty that comes with being a teacher, she can't even accept the fact that she's been reincarnated in another world — a truly fragile person at heart. In a sense, she's both the biggest victim and perpetrator among the reincarnators.

Yugo / Kengo Natsume A prince of the Rengzand Empire. Lacking anyone around him who understood his situation, mired in political turmoil within the empire, and having lived without complaint in the original world, he became twisted. A certain spider exploited that. He's the one who obsessively targeted Shun and threw the world into chaos. In his past life, he was the type who was a bit selfish and spoke his mind without filtering, so while many people disliked him, just as many were drawn to his frank, open personality. Shun couldn't stand him and hated his guts, but he was actually a solid guy — enough to become the central figure among the boys. If he'd gone through college entrance exams, worked part-time, entered society, and grown at a normal pace, he would have lived a smooth, successful life. Or maybe — when he first reunited with Shun after reincarnation, if Shun hadn't avoided him out of leftover discomfort from their past life, and if someone had noticed those hard-to-read cries for help, the outcome might have been different.

/ Yuka Hasebe An orphan from the Saint Alayus Holy Nation, abandoned in front of a church. Because she happened to be a reincarnator with awareness of her past, she remembers being abandoned in that instant, and it's become a deep trauma. Perhaps to overcome that trauma, she became increasingly immersed in the doctrines of the Divine Word Religion, and before she knew it, she'd become a candidate for the next Saintess. In her past life, she was an ordinary high school girl. She had a sweet, bittersweet youth — the boy sitting next to her (also perfectly ordinary) had secretly caught her eye, and so on. But somehow everything went sideways and she was reincarnated in another world. The boy she'd liked in her past life turned out to be a prince, which briefly sent her spirits soaring — only for her to get brainwashed by Yugo, turned into a pawn, and trampled on. Whether in the web version or the book version, she's rather overshadowed. Among the reincarnators who aren't imprisoned in the Elf Village, she's probably the most unfortunate one.

Fei / Mirei Shinohara Appears only in the book version. In the web version, she's simply imprisoned in the Elf Village like the rest. The ringleader who bullied Wakaba Hiiro — out of reverse resentment after confessing to her beloved upperclassman and getting rejected because he was in love with Wakaba Hiiro. The people around her vaguely realized how dangerous Wakaba Hiiro, aka D, really was and tried to stop Fei's bullying. In the book version, she's a regular member of the S Arc.

/ Kunihiko Tagawa Born in a village on the border between the human race and the Demon race, where the villagers made a living as bandit-like raiders against the Demon race. He became an adventurer and built a reputation, all for the sake of defeating Melazophis, the Demon general who destroyed his village. In the Human-Demon Great War, he finally got his long-awaited match against Melazophis, but couldn't overcome the overwhelming gap in power, and the fight ended in a draw. He was painfully made aware of his own inadequacy. After that, he ended up in the Elf Village, where he got swept up in the battle between the elves and the Demon King's Army. In his past life, he was an ordinary high school boy who maintained a vague, ambiguous relationship with his childhood friend — the kind who were too close to call it anything else. Reincarnating and ending up with that same childhood friend? In a sense, that was fate.

/ Asaka Kushitani Born in the same village on the border between the human race and the Demon race — the same bandit village, in other words — as Kunihiko. She's steady, pragmatic, and realistic, making her the perfect brake on Kunihiko's tendency to go off the deep end. She's built a name for herself as an adventurer alongside Kunihiko. Deep down, she'd rather not fight and live somewhere peaceful, but she picks up weapons for Kunihiko's sake. "If Asaka weren't here, I couldn't keep living," according to Kunihiko. May they last forever and may everything blow up in their faces. She's been Kunihiko's childhood friend since before either can remember.

/ Shinobu Kusama Born into a family that manages the shadow operations of the Saint Alayus Holy Nation. Because of that lineage, the Pope spotted the unusual Skill he was born with from a young age, which also served as the catalyst for making him aware of the existence of reincarnators. Thanks to his origins, he was subjected to shadow operations training from childhood, and the influence of his already-existing Unique Skill — Ninja — helped him stand out. But his naturally easygoing personality makes him hopelessly unsuited for shadow operations. A disappointing ninja. He's been easygoing since his past life, with a built-in errand-boy constitution. He's still the Pope's errand boy, so not much has changed.

Ogi / Kenichi Ogiwara From the Saint Alayus Holy Nation. He possessed a Unique Skill that was essentially an upgraded version of Thought Communication, so he was sent into the Elf Village as a spy for the Divine Word Religion — though he had zero spy training. His job was to report on life in the Elf Village from a reincarnator's perspective. During the raid on the Elf Village, he tried to drug the other reincarnators to immobilize them so they wouldn't get dragged in, but it failed. Asaka beat him up. In his past life, he was a former soccer club member with a wide social circle.

? / Kudo One of the reincarnators captured in the Elf Village. Former class president. She was bought by the elves for money when she was a baby, and has lived in the Elf Village ever since. Perhaps because of her circumstances, she tends to be harsh toward Teacher. Being a former class president also makes her the de facto leader among the reincarnators in the Elf Village. In her past life, she was actually a closet fujoshi. Living in the Elf Village with almost no entertainment, she came out to the other girls about it, and after running fujoshi proselytizing campaigns, every girl in the Elf Village became a fujoshi.

? / Sakurazaki Deceased. Natsume's close friend and true understanding companion. After reincarnation, he was killed by Potimas, who had realized the danger of his Unique Skill. He reincarnated into the same Rengzand Empire as Natsume, and given his parents' position, he would surely have reunited with Natsume as he grew up. In truth, he was the reincarnator with the highest specs — surpassing even Shun — and his Unique Skill was extraordinarily powerful. That power became his undoing, and he was killed.

? / Kogure Deceased. Tragically, the village he was born in was attacked by monsters, and he died. He was a crybaby who would burst into tears at the drop of a hat. He even cried when he was appointed to the biology committee.

? / Hayashi Deceased. Tragically died in an accident. A former table tennis club member — the moment he picked up a racket, he became a completely different person. Normally a quiet, unremarkable boy.

? / Aikawa Appears only in the book version. One of the reincarnators captured in the Elf Village. Despite her name, she has a track record of zero romantic history — not counting both her past life and this one combined.

? / Tsushima Appears only in the book version. One of the reincarnators captured in the Elf Village. He's the one who goes to the elves to pick up supplies. He can't help but notice that the girls stare at him with burning eyes whenever he talks to male elves, and it makes him uneasy.

? / Shuto Maki Appears only in the book version. One of the reincarnators captured in the Elf Village. Despite his name meaning "shoot," he was a former baseball club member. With a higher ratio of girls in the Elf Village, he feels constantly cramped for personal space.

? / Iijima Appears only in the book version. One of the reincarnators captured in the Elf Village. In her past life, she was a flashy high school girl; in this life, she was fujoshi-proselytized and became a fujoshi herself...

? / Segawa Appears only in the book version. One of the reincarnators captured in the Elf Village. In her past life, she loved nothing more than shoujo manga about pure romance; in this life, she became a fujoshi who fantasizes about guys getting together...

? / Temarikawa Appears only in the book version. One of the reincarnators captured in the Elf Village. She's actually the daughter of the Summoner Builems. And yes, she was also fujoshi-proselytized...

? / Tonoaoka Appears only in the book version. One of the reincarnators captured in the Elf Village. She's an extremist who schemes to get male elves to assault Tsushima.

? / Nanase Appears only in the book version. One of the reincarnators captured in the Elf Village. She thought the whole fujoshi thing was whatever — couldn't care less. But that was then. At some point, she'd sunk into the mire. Beware the fujoshi proselytism.

? / Furuta Appears only in the book version. One of the reincarnators captured in the Elf Village. She secretly harbors feelings for Maki. But she separates that from her fujoshi fantasies, which she also uses him for — as fodder.

• Demon King's Camp The Demon race's army, centered on the Demon King.

The current Demon King, and the oldest divine beast in the world. A living witness to history who has existed since before the System's activation. She became Demon King after realizing that the sharp decline in MA Energy — caused by the very event that led the reincarnators to this world — coincided with her own approaching lifespan. To rescue , the one who raised her, she fulfilled her duties as Demon King and defeated Potimas. Originally, she was one of Potimas's human experiment victims — a failed product. A chimera created using Potimas's genes, she could in some ways be considered Potimas's daughter. Due to being a failed creation, her body was afflicted with various defects, and she suffered for a long time — though she gradually recovered thanks to the System's power. Over long centuries, she grew to possess the most powerful strength in the world. She expended nearly all of that power defeating Potimas, and now she simply awaits the end of her natural lifespan.

Melazophis Fourth Commander of the Demon King's Army. Originally the right-hand servant of the lord of the Keren territory in the Sariela Kingdom. He got caught up in the conflict between the Divine Word Religion and the Goddess Religion, and on top of that was nearly killed by Potimas, at which point Sofia turned him into a vampire. After that, he followed Sofia under the Demon King's banner, rose through the ranks of the Demon King's Army, and eventually became a Commander. Though he holds the rank of Commander, his top priority is always his lady, Sofia. He swore loyalty to the late lord and his wife, and he strives every day to become the kind of man who can protect Sofia in their stead.

Balt The Demon King's right hand. The one who effectively holds the Demon race together. A hard-working man. He'd been struggling to do something about the Demon race's gradual decline from population loss and other factors when Ariel ascended to Demon King and declared "We attack the humans," plunging the Demon race even deeper into crisis — the poor guy now has stomach ulcers. He works so hard that even Shiro worries he'll die from overexhaustion. Keep at it, Balt.

Agnar First Commander of the Demon King's Army. Deceased. A veteran of the Demon race, he tried to save his people through a different strategy than Balt's. However, a certain spider took notice of him, and he ended up doing her bidding. He was unquestionably one of the most capable among the Demon race, but in the end, he was discarded — crushed by a Queen Taratect.

Sanatolia Second Commander of the Demon King's Army. Balt's childhood friend, a bewitchingly beautiful woman. She belongs to the Succubus clan, using her looks and magic to manipulate others at will. She harbors distrust toward the current Demon King, Ariel, and has been plotting to assassinate her. However, all of her schemes are completely transparent to Ariel, and Balt keeps shielding her without her even knowing it.

Third Commander of the Demon King's Army. Averse to conflict by nature, he doesn't particularly want to follow Ariel, who eagerly pushes for war. Sanatolia has identified this weakness and is inviting him to join her in rebellion.

Fifth Commander of the Demon King's Army. Born and raised in a family that has sworn absolute loyalty to the Demon King for generations, his policy is to follow the Demon King regardless of any agenda. Because of this, he frequently clashes with the other Commanders who distrust Ariel.

Hyui Sixth Commander of the Demon King's Army. Deceased. A young Commander gifted in magic. He was deeply terrified of Ariel, and that fear caused him to miscalculate his retreat, leading to his defeat at the hands of the Imperial Army's magic unit led by Ronant. In the end, he was killed when Ronant shot him through the head with magic.

Brow Seventh Commander of the Demon King's Army. Deceased. Balt's younger brother. Having grown up watching his older brother Balt's example, he refused to accept Ariel — who had suddenly taken the throne — and firmly opposed her policy of driving the Demon race into crisis. In the end, he was defeated in a one-on-one duel against the Hero Julius.

Fermina Originally a young lady from a distinguished family. When she tried to rid herself of Sofia — who was running wild in the Demon race's academy — she was condemned by Sofia's entourage. Stripped of her status and cast aside, she was picked up by a certain spider, retrained, and given a position as a subordinate. Because of that history, she hates Sofia. She's grateful to Shiro, but given the current state of the Demon race, she can't bring herself to be sincerely respectful either. Because she understands the situation all too well, she lives with the same chronic stomach problems as Balt. Competent, but somehow always a bit overshadowed.

Fermina's former fiancé. A well-born young gentleman. He was drawn to Sofia's power, swore loyalty to her, and then had the audacity to beg her to make him a vampire. Love is blind. Despite having a perfectly good fiancée in Fermina, he threw her away — threw away his status and everything else — and made his move on Sofia. He now serves under Shiro alongside Sofia and Fermina. What is this love triangle? It's practically a bloodbath.

Zigris One of Sofia's former entourage. A teacher at the Demon race's academy. Now that Sofia's charm spell has worn off, he supposedly reflects on what he did. Supposedly.

Kara One of Sofia's former entourage. A sort of rival to Wald.

Nitara One of Sofia's former entourage. Younger brother of Commander Hyui. He was devastated by his brother's death in battle and by Sofia's charm spell wearing off, and has become a shut-in.

Chivi One of Sofia's former entourage. Even after Sofia's charm spell wore off, her admiration for Sofia's strength never faded — she deftly joined Shiro's squad, the same one Sofia belongs to.

Warkis Former Seventh Commander. Deceased. He judged that the Demon race lacked the strength to fight the humans and plotted a coup to overthrow the Demon King. Shiro detected his moves in advance, and he was suppressed by Brow before the uprising could begin.

Aerl A Puppet Taratect — a species of monster under Ariel's command. Stationed at the Divine Word Religion's headquarters as a liaison with the Pope. In the book version, other members of the same species appear as well: , , and .

Queen Taratect – Mother A giant spider monster who dwelled in the Great Ello Dungeon. The closest thing Shiro has to a biological mother in this life. She attempted to use the Skill of Kin Domination on Shiro, but ended up having her mind devoured in reverse.

Queen Taratect – Elf Forest A Queen Taratect who lived in the Elf Forest. She wandered around the perimeter of the Elf Village, keeping Potimas in check. She was defeated by Potimas's weapons during the battle at the Elf Village.

• Analeit Kingdom The people of the Analeit Kingdom.

King of Analeit His real name is Sirius. The name appears in the book version's timeline. Deceased. Father of Shun and Julius, and King of the Analeit Kingdom. Not a fool, but not exceptional either — a thoroughly mediocre king in the best and worst sense. A family man who cherished his children and his wives. In peacetime, he would have governed competently enough, but a certain spider's schemes led to his own daughter murdering him — a wretched end.

Cyrilus First Prince of the Analeit Kingdom. The eldest son of the Queen (the legal wife), and first in the line of succession. Had nothing unusual happened, he would have become king. But his half-brother Julius, born of a concubine, became the Hero, and Julius's younger brother became the next Hero — while his other siblings gathered talent and fame. As a result, he grew increasingly anxious, and his personality warped over time. He inherited his father's mediocrity — not bad, but not good either, according to the prevailing reputation. He fell for a certain spider's schemes and launched a coup d'état.

Reston Third Prince of the Analeit Kingdom. Born of a different concubine than Julius and Shun. He appeared to be abandoning his princely duties and acting freely, but in reality he was deliberately signaling to the world — both inside and outside the kingdom — that he had no interest in the throne. He used his free time to empathize with the elves' vision of true world peace and to support their activities. He was killed during the coup Cyrilus launched, but was later resurrected by Shun.

Leyreshia First Princess of the Analeit Kingdom. An older half-sister born of a different concubine than Julius and Shun. She is currently married into another country. Her real name appears in the book version's timeline.

Second Princess of the Analeit Kingdom. Born of the same Queen as Cyrilus. Her real name is Sureshia. She was born at nearly the same time as Shun and was raised together with him. During that time, Shun acted up so much and protected her unconsciously so often that she developed feelings for him that transcended the sibling bond. She's a prodigy rivaling even the reincarnators in raw talent, and because of that, her own brother Cyrilus strongly resented her. Her talent caught the eye of a certain spider, who proceeded to exploit her. A yandere little sister, bottled up to the brim, finally set free. Which way will Shunsuke's future go!?

The Queen Mother of Cyrilus and Sue. Obsessed with power, she schemed to install her own son Cyrilus as king. There are persistent rumors that she orchestrated the assassination of Julius and Shun's mother.

Third Concubine The biological mother of Julius and Shun. She died shortly after giving birth to Shun.

First and Second Concubine The mothers of Leyreshia and Reston, respectively.

Ana A half-elf maid who has served the royal family since the time of the previous king. A mother figure to Shun and Sue. She's also a first-rate magic user and, in times of crisis, a combat maid who protects the royal family. She was brainwashed by Yugo and participated in the coup. After the brainwashing wore off, she was consumed by guilt and accompanied Shun and the others on their journey to the Elf Village. She suffered a fatal wound during the battle at the Elf Village and was resurrected by Shun. That was the trigger that maxed out Shun's Taboo.

Clevea A maid who, like Ana, served as Shun and Sue's dedicated attendant. She was originally a formidable female knight who fought for the kingdom, with a muscular build that belied her gender. She had retired on account of her age, but during the coup, she rushed to Shun's aid alongside Reston.

Duke and Duchess Anabart Kathia's father and mother. A duke and duchess who wield considerable influence even within the Analeit Kingdom.

Palton Shun's classmate at the academy. Son of a knight. In the initial draft, he was actually planned as a member of the party accompanying Shun instead of Kathia, but that idea was scrapped.

Oriza An academy teacher. A middle-aged magic user with questionable motivation. In the initial draft, he was planned as a member of the party accompanying Shun instead of Ana, but that idea was scrapped too. The initial draft apparently called for a journey with nothing but guys — zero women except Teacher! Whether that's true or not is anyone's guess.

• Rengzand Empire The people of the Rengzand Empire.

Sword Emperor King of the Rengzand Empire. Yugo's father. He has political skill, but "Sword Emperor" is a title only — his swordsmanship is average. Because the previous Sword Emperor was so great, he's been chronically underrated. A poor man. The constant underestimation by the empire's nobles made keeping them in line an exhausting struggle. To top it off, his own son spread brainwashing throughout the empire and seized power. Do the royals of this world have some kind of curse of misfortune?

Ronant HE'S A PERVERT. The empire's chief court mage. One of the most powerful magic users in the world, capable of wielding spatial magic — an incredible person. But yeah, he's a PERVERT. Among pure humans, he's probably the strongest. He was also Julius's mentor and looked after him in various ways. He started out as a minor character, but at some point his personality took on a life of its own and he started moving. Now he's one of the key characters. Perverts really are something else, huh. But Shiro couldn't care less about him.

Orel The empire's court mage. Ronant's second-in-command, and his second disciple. She was originally the daughter of a minor noble who'd been sent to work as Ronant's caretaker — somehow she became his apprentice, and somehow she became a court mage. Her own reaction: "How did this happen!?" The other court mages — surrounded by nothing but perverts — call her "big sis," even though some of them are older than her. And her marriage prospects have slipped away completely.

Ronant's Disciples Ronant's disciples. A bunch of hardened fighters who've been put through the wringer by their eccentric master but toughened up enough to tell him exactly what they think of his nonsense.

Builems An imperial officer who commanded a military unit, and a Summoner. He possessed not only skill as a Summoner but also top-tier ability as a warrior — an outstanding general. However, he failed to slay a powerful monster confirmed in the Great Ello Dungeon. That monster? Its forces had been wiped out by a certain spider, and it had barely escaped with its life. Builems was made to shoulder the blame alone and demoted to the Demon Mountains. There, he learned his daughter had been kidnapped by unknown parties, and in a desperate bid to earn merit and return to the capital, he raided a goblin village. In the end, he was killed after provoking Lars's Wrath. Another victim swept up by the reincarnators' antics.

Newdoze One of the empire's generals. Deceased. A fearsome swordsman known as the Sword Saint. An old warrior who fought alongside the previous Sword Emperor on countless battlefields. A boisterous personality to match his thunderous voice — a hearty old man. His low birth made him disliked by the nobles, but the rank-and-file soldiers adored him. He was killed in the Human-Demon Great War when Lars defeated him.

Tiba Appears only in the book version. One of the empire's generals.

Great Ello Dungeon Anomaly Investigation Unit A squad of knights dispatched from the empire to investigate the anomalies in the Great Ello Dungeon. Composed of men without inheritance rights — second and third sons of noble families. They were the first to officially bring the existence of the Dungeon's Nightmare to public knowledge.

An A-Rank adventurer from the empire. One of the rare survivors of the Special Ogre extermination.

Legg An A-Rank adventurer from the empire. He died during the failed Special Ogre extermination.

Luxo An adventurer from the empire. He carried information about the Special Ogre back to the guild.

Kohan, Agiris, Kwan, Regen from the empire. They died during the failed Ogre extermination.

• Hero's Party Members of the Hero's party, centered on Julius.

Julius The Hero, and Second Prince of the Analeit Kingdom. Shun's full brother. Deceased. A hero in the truest sense — he possessed both noble will and kindness. Because Shun grew up watching his back, Shun never grew arrogant in his power. As the Hero, he worked tirelessly every day to save as many people as he could. But he experienced setbacks too — losing his mother at a young age, and being defeated by the Nightmare of the Dungeon. He agonized in the gap between ideal and reality, yet never stopped pursuing his ideal. He defeated Brow in the Human-Demon Great War, but was defeated by Shiro and killed in battle. His scarf — a keepsake — was entrusted to Shun.

Hairens Julius's childhood friend and heir to a noble house. The party's shield — he stood at the front line, absorbing enemy attacks. Being childhood friends, he and Julius knew each other inside and out — they were best friends and comrades in arms. The sole survivor of the Hero's party, he now acts alongside Shun. His true identity is a clone body of Gyurie. He watched over Julius and Shun from the shadows.

Yarna A saintess who served Julius. A specialist in light magic and healing magic, she supported the party from the rear. She was in love with Julius and made advances at every opportunity, but he deflected them smoothly. Julius was aware of her feelings, but given that he was chasing an ideal and always in the thick of battle, he believed he could never make any partner happy as long as he lived that life — so he never reciprocated. She died alongside Julius in the Human-Demon Great War.

Jiskan A former adventurer. The oldest and most experienced member of the Hero's party. He usually deferred to Julius but would step in as an advisor when the situation demanded. A combat expert who could wield a variety of weapons and adapt his fighting style to any circumstance — a versatile warrior. He died alongside Julius in the Human-Demon Great War.

A former thief — though even as a thief, he was a righteous one who stole from corrupt nobles and merchants. He'd been caught and enslaved before Jiskan found him and brought him into the Hero's party. His combat ability was the weakest in the party, but his knowledge of the underworld made him a half-support member who bolstered Julius's activities from behind the scenes. He died alongside Julius in the Human-Demon Great War.

• Miscellaneous People from other regions.

Potimas Harrifenas The Elf Chief. A ruler of Diligence who has lived since before the System's activation. It's basically his fault for number one. It's basically his fault for number one. It's so important I'm saying it twice. He discovered MA Energy before the System was activated and drove the planet to the brink of annihilation. His goal: to achieve immortality. Driven solely by his desire to avoid death, he plunged the world into chaos. A genius and a natural disaster. He evolved himself into the new species known as the elf, aiming for perfect immortality, and continued his research. After the System's activation, he was threatened by Gyurie into staying put, and retreated inside his barrier out of sheer terror. Even so, he continued his machinations from behind the scenes until the very end. He was defeated by Ariel in the battle at the Elf Village and finally perished. The obsession of not wanting it to end met its end at last. His concept: the worst kind of petty villain.

the Sixty-First Pope of the Divine Word Religion. The Ruler of Temperance, who possesses the Skill of Temperance — the ability to inherit one's memories upon death and reincarnate. Using this power, he has quietly guided the human race from behind the scenes for ages. He reincarnates repeatedly, receiving a new name from his parents each time, but once he becomes Pope, he always takes the name Dustin. Having once sacrificed Sariel to save humanity, his mission is to save the human race no matter what the cost. That iron will has sustained him across the long centuries. The head of a religion that worships gods, yet a cold-blooded politician who won't hesitate to kill a god. A spiritual monster recognized as such even by Gyurie and Ariel.

Divine Word Religion Shadow Division Designated by symbols — "a6," "i4," and so on. The elite operatives of the Divine Word Religion's shadow division. They serve as the Pope's hands and feet, working tirelessly and sometimes giving their lives without hesitation. Each one is a specialist in their own field — a special operations force.

Lord of the Keren territory in the Sariela Kingdom. Sofia's father. Deceased. His name appears in the book version. An outstanding lord of the Keren territory, which borders the Outz Kingdom. A conflict with the Outz Kingdom arose over a monster called the Nightmare of the Dungeon, and he was dragged into a war. He did everything he could to avoid the conflict, but with the Divine Word Religion pulling strings behind the Outz Kingdom, he was politically isolated, cornered with no escape, and ultimately killed. On his deathbed, he entrusted Sofia to Melazophis.

Ceras John's wife and Sofia's mother. Deceased. The woman Melazophis loved. A devout Goddess Religion follower who had convinced herself the Nightmare of the Dungeon was a divine beast. A sweet, airheaded beauty. Devoted solely to her husband, she never noticed Melazophis's feelings — a truly innocent woman. She wished to be with her husband until the very end, and departed this world together with him.

Neurilla A maid serving the Keren household. She was assigned to help Melazophis smuggle Sofia to safety, but was killed during an elven attack.

Basgas An old man who served as a guide in the Great Ello Dungeon. He knew the Upper Layer of the Great Ello Dungeon better than anyone, and was a first-rate guide who also possessed formidable fighting ability. He encountered the Nightmare of the Dungeon, and the resulting trauma caused him to retire from guiding. Later, through circumstance, he ended up guiding Shun and the others. For the record, he does not explode.

Goief A man working as a guide in the Great Ello Dungeon. Basgas's son. He once guided Julius and the others as well. He possesses a high level of ability as a guide, but he refused to take on the job of guiding Shun and the others, who were wanted criminals.

Previous Sword Emperor His real name is Liger. An old man who abdicated the throne of Sword Emperor to his son and retired. If Ronant is the strongest in magic, he was the strongest in swordsmanship. Despite being overwhelmingly inferior in Stats, his skill allowed him to trade blows with Lars in a Wrath-activated state. But in the end, he was overpowered and defeated by Lars.

Gordou An adventurer exploring the Great Ello Dungeon. His name appears in the book version.

Rekin, Onjin, Gaikun, Jolia Justo, Bardon Adventurers who explored the Great Ello Dungeon alongside Gordou. Their names appear in the book version.

• Monsters The delightful menagerie of monsters.

Frog Frog. That's it!

Brothers There are so many of them! Almost none survive, though!

Earth Dragon Arava Encountered early on and definitely not someone you want to run into. The kind of encounter that would make you hurl your controller in a game.

Greater Taratect The big ones from the spider hordes. Strong.

Pillbug A monster that merely triggered the Appraisal.

Rat Not the one from the dream country. Definitely not.

Snake Among the Upper Layer of the Great Ello Dungeon, one of the more dangerous monsters. Big, long, and thick.

Geji So many of them. They're everywhere. Gross, and terrifying.

Rock Turtle A turtle made of rock. The name says it all. Big enough even for kids to find intimidating, and hard as stone.

Bat Triggered the Appraisal, nothing more.

Wolf Triggered the Appraisal, nothing more.

Basilisk A cockatrice. The first experience of petrifying terror.

Three Amigos Always moving as a trio. If they all get together, they still can't form a Manjushri.

Mokorita Pillbug A pillbug with a rat's head stuck on top. If this thing existed in the dream country, kids would cry.

Spider A spider monster. Encountered early on, and absolutely not someone you want to tangle with.

Giant Spider Already past the point of being a spider, honestly... Definitely has Saiyan blood or something.

Earth Dragon Kaguna Definitely not someone you want to encounter in the early game. Developer, get out here!

Dango Bug A pillbug with a rat's head. If this thing existed in the dream country, kids would cry.

Monkey Avenger. The type who will absolutely kill whoever killed his kind. Hoo.

Giant Monkey This thing is barely a monkey anymore... Definitely has Saiyan blood or something.

Earth Dragon Arava Not an opponent you should be fighting this early on. In a game, this is the kind of thing that makes you hurl your controller.

Dragonfly A dragonfly. It gets more dangerous than you'd think.

Fire Frog A frog adapted to fire. Frogs are incredible, seriously.

Eel Not cute. And strong. Long, thick, and beefy.

Fire Dragon Not cute. And it swarms. It's strong, but it was a victim — a casualty of the threat known as inflation.

Fire Dragon Lend Like the Earth Dragon, normally the kind of opponent you'd file a complaint with the developer about. But it was defeated by the protagonist once she started inflating. This is absolutely unreasonable!

Ground Dragon A dinosaur-like creature from the Upper Layer. So dinosaurs didn't go extinct after all...

Earth Dragon Geele An athlete-type Earth Dragon.

Earth Dragon Fuito A jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none Earth Dragon. If it had grown properly, it might have rivaled Arava.

Arachne Taratect The scary ones from the spider hordes. Normally they'd be strong in an ordinary fight, but they got defeated by a trick exploit.

Pig A monster delicately enjoyed outside the Great Ello Dungeon.

Wind Dragon "What the hell is this thing doing invading someone else's territory?" — it challenged the Wind Dragon and got promptly defeated. The local lord, defeated just like that.

Water Dragon Got fished.

Water Dragon Got fished.

Babies Remnants of the Nightmare. Not a mama's boy — this is a wholesome family story, thank you very much.

Earth Dragon Gakia Chief among the Earth Dragons. Even among monsters, its strength is top-tier. But it was no match for the out-of-spec Demon King.

Ants Worker ants. They were just quietly living underground when they got annihilated.

Robot A monster? Not really a monster, but something like one, surely.

Goblin A surprisingly noble warrior tribe. It's tradition to give departing warriors a flower amulet.

Ogre A tough humanoid monster. The fact that goblins are even tougher just goes to show how weird this world is.

Ice Dragon Guardian of the Demon Mountains. Strong enough to make you want to complain to the developer, but a berserk Ogre was somehow even more dangerous.

• Past Arc People who appeared in the Past Arc.

Potimas Harrifenas It's basically his fault for number one.

Ariel A victim of Potimas's human experiments. Born with a body that could only digest easily processed food, and further corroded by the toxins her own body produced — a catastrophic defect for a living creature. She was bedridden for much of her life as a result.

Kla One of the children in an orphanage where Potimas gathered his human experiment victims. A blind boy, the eldest of the group. He would become the first Hero and the first Ruler of Patience. He fought on even as he wept blood, and yet he maintained his vow of never taking a life throughout his entire existence.

Natalie One of the children in the orphanage. A girl with slightly pointed ears — an elf prototype. She would become the first Saintess and the first Ruler of Charity. She supported Kla and continued to heal the wounded.

Gob One of the children in the orphanage. A timid boy with green skin. His nickname was Gobgob. Knowing his own short lifespan, he fought to protect the other children. He received a flower bookmark from Ariel, but the day he could return it to her never came.

Fodway A financial backer of the Sariela Society. A heavyweight in the economic world, but after a certain incident he became a vampire and was forcibly retired from the public stage. He would become the first Demon King and the first Ruler of Pride. He raised an army of vampires and tormented the people for centuries.

Dustin President of the nation of Dazdrodia. He continually denied the existence of MA Energy and strictly prohibited its use within his borders. After the System activated, he scrambled to unite the people. He would become the Ruler of Temperance. His body from this era died, but his spirit endured beyond his time, ever protecting the people.

• The deities.

Gyuriedistodiez A black dragon. Nicknamed Gyurie. Before the System's activation, he was still a young dragon. That youth allowed him to think flexibly, and Fodway — spotting that potential — gradually shaped him into thinking in ways unbecoming of a dragon. And yet, because of that, he found himself caught between the dragons, the humans, and Sariel, unable to move as events spiraled beyond his control. He has spent all eternity regretting his inability to choose, and yet he still chooses not to choose.

Sariel A stray angel. She has been fulfilling her mission — the protection of primordial life — since the ancient era before humanity developed. However, as she watched over humanity, her mission became biased, and she began to prioritize humans above all else. She couldn't understand her own feelings, emotionally underdeveloped and capable only of mechanical thought. That became a factor in the tragedy that followed. She now serves as the core of the System, functioning as its power source. But even that energy is running dry after years of relentless exploitation — she is on the verge of death.

Dragons The ones who caused all manner of trouble. The "supreme race" (lol). Though the ones on this particular planet are just the weak, low-ranking kind — the truly powerful dragons are beyond even Sariel. The strongest dragon once had a run-in with the Grim Reaper in the distant past, but that's more the Grim Reaper being weird than anything.

D The final god. Self-proclaimed evil god. It's basically her fault for number two. Among the gods, she's one of the highest-ranking deities, possessing particularly immense power. She created the System on a whim — because it "seemed interesting" — and while she offered Sariel and the planet a means of salvation, she also set the stage for Gyurie's long suffering. And then, once the initial rounds of updates were done, things got boring because nothing dramatic was happening, so she abandoned the whole thing. The explosion was partly her own fault. The other reincarnators who got caught up in it certainly didn't ask for this. Shiro — who is basically her fault for number three — was in a sense also created because of her. The worst kind of trickster: stirring up the story and then sitting back to watch, a bystander in every sense. For the record, she's also the kind of being who has achieved the perfect immortality that Potimas is striving for. Which means no matter how hard anyone tries, she can't be defeated. She is the god who watches until the very end of the world — and that is why she is the final god.

The Grim Reaper The strongest god. A woman in a maid outfit who dragged D back to work, muttering "Get to it already, will you." A gentle-looking beauty in a yamato nadeshiko mold — the kind who'd look great in a kimono. In a maid outfit. For the record, she wears it because she likes it, not because she's D's maid. Her position is equivalent to D's as a highest-ranking god. In fact, in terms of pure combat ability alone, she surpasses D — one of the very few who can physically silence D. But slipping past her surveillance and causing havoc? That's peak D quality. What a handful. Because she's so heavily invested in combat ability, she's a bit lacking in other areas. Not that she can't do them. She's been told "please just sit quietly" by her subordinates and treated like a nuisance, but she's not incapable. Absolutely not. If you think back on it and reread "218 Maid Appears," you might notice some other facets.

Most characters updated! Yay! (rolls eyes)
