While and the others were chatting, his gaze suddenly drifted to the distance. Among the rows upon rows of bookshelves, a graceful silhouette was holding a thick book, head bowed in reading. Her purple hair cascaded down like a waterfall, and two small locks near her ears were tied with purple silk threads, giving her an even more adorable air.

The evening sunlight fell upon her delicate cheeks, making her look even more elegant and captivating.

Nie Li's heart skipped a beat. In an instant, countless memories flooded his mind — wandering through that endless desert, together evading the pursuit of countless desert demon beasts. It was in that life-or-death environment that Nie Li, relying on his keen sense of danger, saved those survivors time and again, and gradually grew closer to , the two of them coming to know each other more deeply.

Though Nie Li's cultivation was abysmally low, and the gap between him and Ye Ziyun was like an impassable chasm, the two of them had still ended up together.

That night, Nie Li had run his hand along Ye Ziyun's smooth back, the wild, scorching love in his heart no longer containable. Ye Ziyun beneath the moonlight looked like a flawless goddess sculpted in marble — a shy, lovely face, a figure with graceful curves, slender and luminous arms, those full, high peaks… Those wild images were burned deep into Nie Li's heart.

Back then, Nie Li could never have imagined that a goddess as beautiful as Ye Ziyun would ever fall for him.

Later, when Ye Ziyun sacrificed herself to cover his and the other survivors' escape, the moment she died, it felt as though someone had viciously carved out Nie Li's heart. That soul-rending agony — the memory of it was still fresh. If it hadn't been for fulfilling Ye Ziyun's dying wish — escorting her clansmen to safety — Nie Li would surely have followed her in death.

If not for that miraculous Book of Time-Space Demon Spirit, I could never have been reborn, and I would never have been able to see her again!

Nie Li took a deep breath, steadying the surging emotions within him. He had been looking for an opportunity to approach Ye Ziyun, but he didn't want to disturb her either. After all, her engagement to hadn't been finalized yet. Right now, Nie Li desperately needed to increase his strength.

Only by growing stronger could he deter the Sacred Family, and only then could he take Ye Ziyun back from Shen Yue's hands.

"You guys go on ahead. I've got something to take care of!" Nie Li said to , , and the others.

Du Ze and Lu Piao followed Nie Li's gaze into the distance. There, holding an ancient tome and reading quietly, was a beautiful young girl — like a fairy from the twilight, flawless and perfect. She wore a white silk dress, poised and graceful, leaning against a bookshelf with a dignified elegance. She was like a lotus blossom rising from the water, so sacred and noble that one hardly dared to profane her. They instantly understood what Nie Li intended to do.

Everyone loved beautiful things, but in front of Ye Ziyun, they felt small — they didn't even have the courage to walk up and strike up a conversation.

Nie Li was already heading straight toward her.

"I bet Nie Li will give up within a quarter of an hour! The class beauty definitely won't give him the time of day," Lu Piao said with certainty, snickering.

"Let's hope Nie Li doesn't take too big a hit," Du Ze muttered from the side.

Hiding in their corner, they harbored a certain petty amusement, imagining Nie Li getting his nose rubbed in the dirt by the class beauty. She wasn't someone you could easily approach — even Shen Yue had failed repeatedly when trying to get close to Ye Ziyun.

Ye Ziyun was reading quietly in the evening light, and this breathtakingly beautiful scene made Nie Li truly reluctant to break the spell.

He was surprised to discover that the book Ye Ziyun was leafing through was none other than the Sacred Scripture of Thunder and Fire.

As she turned the pages, her delicate brows were furrowed tight. Ye Ziyun was a rather competitive and hardworking person — her talent, cultivation, and knowledge far surpassed those of the average person. She carried a certain pride within her, and yet she had just realized that the gap between herself and Nie Li was surprisingly vast.

The content in this Sacred Scripture of Thunder and Fire was far too profound!

The first volume had a translation, which was manageable enough, but from the second volume onward, everything was written in the script of the Wind Snow Empire era — she couldn't understand a single character!

In terms of scholarship, Ye Ziyun was indeed a standout among her peers. But when she secretly compared herself to Nie Li, a man who had lived a past life, she had picked the wrong person to measure herself against.

Seeing Ye Ziyun holding the Sacred Scripture of Thunder and Fire and studying it there, Nie Li — who knew her so well — could easily guess what was going through her mind. He couldn't help but smile, walking over to her side, and teasingly said, "What's this? Is Student Ye Ziyun interested in the Sacred Scripture of Thunder and Fire too?"

Only then did Ye Ziyun snap out of her deep contemplation. Seeing Nie Li, she showed a flicker of surprise — she clearly hadn't expected to run into him here. After a moment's thought, she figured Nie Li probably came here to read often enough, otherwise how would he know so much?

"This book is too profound. I looked through it and found that there are many things I just can't understand!" Ye Ziyun closed the Sacred Scripture and spoke in her characteristically elegant, composed manner, maintaining a polite distance from Nie Li.

Ye Ziyun had a slender figure and wore a white silk dress, her aura refined as an orchid. Though they stood several paces apart, he could still faintly catch a whiff of her subtle fragrance. Nie Li knew that was her unique personal scent, utterly mesmerizing. It was a smell so familiar and dear — the scent buried deep in his memories.

"This Sacred Scripture of Thunder and Fire was written in the script of the Wind Snow Empire era. The Wind Snow Empire's script is quite complex and difficult to read, but if you first study the script of the Black Gold Empire, you'll find it becomes much simpler — the Wind Snow Empire's script will be relatively easy to recognize after that," Nie Li said with a smile.

"The Black Gold Empire's script?" Ye Ziyun carefully searched her memory. Before the Dark Age, there were three eras recorded in the most complete detail, each named after the most powerful empire of its time — the Sacred Spirit Empire era, the Wind Snow Empire era, and the Holy Empire era. The Black Gold Empire was a fairly large empire contemporary to the Wind Snow Empire.
