I finished Appraising the rest of my Skills too.
The results were mostly what I expected, but there were a few new discoveries.
First, the true nature of Visual Range Expansion was revealed.
So basically, it means I can see infrared and ultraviolet light?
But I can't see any of that right now.
Is it because I'm Level 1, so I can barely perceive it?
Or maybe there's no infrared or ultraviolet light inside the Dungeon?
Well, it's not like not having it is causing me any problems, so it's probably not a big deal.
Moving on, while I was checking the Resistance Skills, I stumbled upon a rather terrifying truth.
Most of the Resistances were exactly what their names suggested, but there was one where the name and the actual effect didn't match up.
『Corrosion Attribute: An attribute that governs the decay of death.』
What the heck is that? That's scary.
I was thinking it was some kind of resistance that let me eat rotten stuff with no problem, but apparently it was some weird attribute.
So the fact that my Corrosion Resistance went up from eating those snail bugs means those things had this attribute?
Ugh.
No wonder they tasted like nothing that should exist in this world.
Yeah.
Eating those snail bugs is going to be a strictly last-resort thing from now on.
The other Skill I was curious about was Detection.
Detection was way more high-performance than I thought.
Wait, all the perception-type Skills combined into one?
There's no way this is something you'd normally get for around 100 Skill Points, right?
Also, can I activate each one individually?
I cannot.
I tried all sorts of things, but it looks like everything activates at once. The only toggle is on or off—I can't do individual settings.
I would've liked to at least use just Presence Perception and Danger Perception, but since the rest all activate simultaneously, it's impossible to tell which perception picked up which piece of information.
And seriously, there's no way my tiny little spider brain can process that much information.
The headache alone makes it impossible to focus on anything else.
And just from testing it a little this time, my Level went up again, didn't it?
Now there's even more information flooding in and I have no idea what's going on.
I feel like I won't be able to use it at all unless I get a Skill that improves my brain or something.
It's such a waste that something this high-powered is too high-powered to actually use.
Cast pearls before swine, they say. Well, this is Detection before a spider.
*Sigh.* Alright, last one.
Depending on the results of this Appraisal, my future could change dramatically.
Specifically, the Appraisal of my three magic Skills.
Skills I had no idea how to use and could only leave untouched until now.
Skills that would absolutely be useful if I could actually use them.
If I can use these, I can officially call myself a mage.
Okay.
Appraisal, please!
『Heterodox Magic: Magic that directly violates the soul. Usable spells vary by level. LV1: Discomfort LV2: Phantom Pain』
『Shadow Magic: A lower-tier dark magic that manipulates shadows. Usable spells vary by level. LV1: Deep Shadow』
『Poison Magic: Magic that manipulates poison. Usable spells vary by level. LV1: Poison Touch』
Oh?
Oh hmm?
Hm.
Meh.
I mean, compared to knowing absolutely nothing before, this is a huge leap forward. But I still don't really know how to use them.
So Heterodox Magic is basically mental attack magic?
Shadow and Poison seem to be exactly what they sound like.
And it looks like the spells available at Level 1 are listed here.
They're listed, but how do I actually cast them?
Should I try focusing my thoughts on them, like I do with Appraisal?
Alright.
Here goes—"Discomfort"!
...
...
...
Nothing happens.
Well, maybe it just failed because there's no target.
Let me try the other ones.
"Deep Shadow"!
...
...
...
Nothing happens.
"Poison Touch"!
...
...
...
Nothing happens.
And my MP hasn't decreased at all.
It's not that the spells failed to activate—they didn't activate at all.
Seriously?
Well, I had my hopes up a little, but I guess it was too much to ask.
Wait, hold on?
Maybe if I Appraise magic itself, I might get some clues.
『Magic: The phenomenon established by transforming magical power through a Skill.』
Yeah, this is useless.
Ugh. Looks like I'm still a long way off from being able to use magic.
Damn it.
The day I can call myself Magical Girl Magical Spider is still far, far away.
Shit.
