Today's Second Chapter Vampire Girl's Perspective In my previous life, I knew I was called "Rihoko" behind my back.
Real Horror Girl.
Abbreviated: Rihoko.
I don't know who started calling me that.
It wasn't clever or funny—just a name meant to mock and belittle me.
And this boy in front of me had actually said it out loud.
At our first meeting, he'd introduced himself as a Reincarnator, so it wasn't strange that he knew about me.
But I had never revealed my name from my past life, so how did this guy know to bring it up now?
"Hmm? If you're just going to stand there frozen, I'll never figure it out. Who were you talking about?"
I pressed him with an intimidating tone, and the boy—Kusama-kun, I think it was—his face twisted into a comically pained expression.
Kyoya-kun, who had turned toward me, also wore a look that said, "Well, this is bad."
"You need to speak up if you want me to understand. Hurry up and tell me."
When I piled on even more pressure, Kusama-kun's face went pale and he clammed up entirely.
Oh no.
My threats had backfired.
So Kusama-kun was the type who shut down when things got tough.
I was getting tired of dealing with this. Should I just charm him?
A temporary charm, getting him to spill everything he knew—that seemed like the quickest approach.
As if he'd sensed my dark thoughts, Kusama-kun threw himself to the ground.
A full prostration.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, please forgive me!"
There on the bed, he prostrated himself and unleashed a torrent of desperate apologies.
His pathetic display rather killed my motivation to keep interrogating him.
That said, I was still angry, and letting him off the hook entirely didn't sit right with me.
I walked up to where Kusama-kun was prostrating and grabbed his head, forcing him to look up.
Our eyes met, and I gave him a sweet smile.
"Hehe?"
He returned a strained, forced smile—sweat pouring down his neck—so I sank my fangs into the side of it in one swift bite.
"HGAAH?!"
I dug my teeth in and sucked the blood that flowed from the wound.
But it was only for an instant—immediately after, hands seized my shoulders from behind and wrenched me away.
Just as I expected. When I turned around, Kyoya-kun was there, his expression severe.
"Oh? Ohh? Ohhh..."
Kusama-kun's mouth opened and closed uselessly as he let out meaningless groans.
I licked the blood from the corner of my mouth and locked eyes with Kyoya-kun.
"I only took a little blood. Consider us even for the things he said about me. Got a problem with that?"
Kyoya-kun looked like he wanted to say something, but perhaps he figured Kusama-kun was partly to blame too—he let out a silent sigh and released his grip on my shoulder.
"Sasa-san, I feel like a new door is opening for me."
"No. That door must never be opened."
Kusama-kun pressed his hand against the bite mark on his neck while spouting what could only be called the ramblings of a pervert.
Well, apparently being bitten by a vampire feels good, so maybe "pervert" was a bit harsh.
"So? How exactly did you know about me?"
"Oh, right. I compiled a class roster and documented what happened to all the Reincarnators, so I know the current status of most of them. Through process of elimination, I figured out who's who. Yeah."
"So you're saying almost everyone in the class has been found?"
Kyoya-kun responded to Kusama-kun's answer.
Unlike me, Kyoya-kun had friends—maybe there was someone he wanted to find.
"Most of them are in the elf village, but Ogi infiltrated it and identified everyone there. There are also a few attending an academy in the neighboring country, and those are accounted for too. And at that last meeting, three Reincarnators showed up from there, right? We hadn't tracked them down before, so the list wasn't complete, but Sasa—ah, Lath can tell who's who at a glance, and
"Ogi did?"
"Oh, I probably shouldn't have said that."
Is this guy going to be okay?
He'd just casually leaked what seemed like fairly important information.
"P-pretend you didn't hear that. Okay? Okay?"
"Well... regarding the elves, we've agreed to cooperate, so it should be fine, right?"
"Sweet! I'm safe!"
You are not safe.
Kyoya-kun said it was fine but didn't actually agree to pretend he hadn't heard anything.
This guy might be hopeless after all.
"By the way, is there any way I could see that list?"
"Sure, no problem. I've got a copy—give me a sec."
With that, Kusama-kun began digging through a mountain of junk.
Is this really okay?
Isn't that thing basically a classified document?
Just because we're fellow Reincarnators doesn't mean you should hand it over that easily, does it?
"Found it. I'll lend you a pen and paper so you can copy it."
I wasn't particularly interested, but Kyoya-kun studied the paper he was handed and began copying it down with complete seriousness.
Quite different from me, who had no lingering attachment to my past life.
"Thanks. This really helps."
"No problem~"
Kyoya-kun returned the original memo to Kusama-kun.
"Guess I should show this to White-san later."
That name, spoken so casually, made me jolt.
Right.
I'd been told to go find Kyoya-kun and bring him back to my master.
This was bad.
While I'd been busy with unnecessary things, time had slipped away.
Master was probably getting impatient by now.
"Kyoya-kun, if you're done, let's head back. Lady
"Sofia-san, how many times do I have to tell you that I don't want you calling me by my name?"
I ignored Kyoya-kun's words as he grimaced.
I deliberately called him "Kyoya-kun" specifically to annoy him—there was no way I'd stop just because he asked.
"Hurry up. If you don't follow me, I'm leaving without you."
I turned on my heel and headed toward the original conference room.
Outside the door was the church member who had guided me here.
Beyond that, I could sense the presence of what were clearly intelligence operatives watching me from the shadows, but as long as they didn't make a move, I'd ignore them.
There was no way they'd let an outsider—or someone who could more accurately be called an enemy—wander around freely without surveillance.
Our conversations in Kusama-kun's room had almost certainly been monitored too.
Kusama-kun, I hope you'll be okay.
He probably wouldn't be killed, but he'd certainly be in for a severe scolding.
Well, that was none of my business.
I pushed Kusama-kun out of my mind entirely and headed back to my master.
