Some time has passed since my sibling's attack.
《Proficiency has reached a certain threshold. Skill "Spider Silk LV5" has become "Spider Silk LV6"》 I was playing with thread—excuse me, I mean training with thread, and my skill level went up.
Man, it was a real pain getting to the next level.
To the point where the inside of my home was now completely white.
My home has changed quite a bit compared to how it started.
First off, the amount of webbing I've strung up has increased.
Before, I only had one pair of upper and lower webs set a short distance from the T-shaped intersection, but now I've got multiple pairs strung all the way to the fork at the end of the corridor.
I figured that with only one set, intruders like my sibling could break through, so I decided to beef things up.
Breaking through this many layers of spider web should take a decent amount of time.
That alone shot up my home's safety level.
But even after all that, my skill level still hadn't gone up, so I decided to try decorating the walls.
I covered the entire wall surface with thread, painting it all white.
Of course, this isn't just plain decoration.
These Wallpaper Threads are linked to the webbing above—when prey gets caught in the web, the wall threads automatically detach and adjust to wrap around the target.
It's a trap I'm proud of, built through plenty of trial and error.
My skill level went up by one right around when I started hanging the Wallpaper Thread.
After finishing all the Wallpaper Thread, the last thing I set up was a network of ultra-fine threads, invisible to the eye, strung throughout my entire home.
These threads have no stickiness, and break the moment something touches them.
If left alone, they'll naturally snap from air currents and get absorbed by the Wallpaper Thread.
I think I was only able to produce threads this fine because my skill level hit 5.
As for what these threads do—they're for detection.
The ends of the threads are connected to me, and when something touches a thread, I can sense exactly what it is.
I'd been thinking about developing a Detection Thread ever since I complained about not being able to see behind me.
I don't really need to worry about my blind spot as long as I'm inside my home, so I decided to string them up everywhere in here instead.
Eventually, I'd like to be able to operate them remotely to scout outside my home.
And well, once I'd gotten all that done, I'd honestly run out of things to do and was just mindlessly stockpiling thread when my skill level finally hit 6.
Thanks to that, I now have high-quality silk thread with a luxurious feel to it just casually sitting around in clumps.
If I could sell this to humans, I'd probably make a decent amount of money.
Well, I have no idea what the human textile industry is like, though.
Incidentally, producing that much thread naturally made me hungry.
So, I ate every last one of the poor prey that had gotten caught in my web. Left nothing behind.
Turns out all the Monsters around here are poisonous.
Even my Poison Fang won't kill them right away.
Well, once they're caught in my web, my victory is pretty much guaranteed regardless.
But still, if I had to fight without my threads—yeah, no way.
My Poison Fang only works if I keep it stabbing in for a long time.
Without thread restraint for that long, I'd get counterattacked and killed.
Thanks to all this, my Poison Fang skill level went up to 4, and my Poison Resistance hit level 5.
I don't know if it's because of the Poison Resistance going up, but the bitterness of those poisonous Monsters has actually started to grow on me. I've gotten a taste for it.
The Monsters I've defeated so far: three Eiro Randanels, one Eiro Pekatot, one Eiro Basilisk, and one Finjigoat.
Every one of them was caught in my web, further restrained with thread, and finished off with Poison Fang.
The Eiro Randanels are small, dinosaur-like Monsters, and three of them showed up at once, so I was pretty panicked.
But all three got caught in my web, so it wasn't that much trouble in the end.
The Eiro Pekatot was a bizarre Monster with a torso like a mix between a penguin and a pelican, and arms like a monkey's.
The Finjigoat was a bee-like Monster, abnormally large—it was big enough to fill this three-meter-wide corridor entirely.
That actually made it easier to catch in my web, though.
The most dangerous one was the Eiro Basilisk.
It looked like a giant lizard, and true to its name, it launched a petrification attack at me.
I'm pretty sure it was the same as in fairy tales—a petrifying gaze. It managed to petrify one of my front legs.
The petrification was extremely slow, so I managed to take it down, but it was a terrifying opponent.
After that, I had to live with a petrified leg until my next level-up and molt. Not fun.
I got the Petrification Resistance skill out of it, so the net gain might be positive, but it was just as dangerous as that first frog, if not more.
Oh, and speaking of level-ups casually—I leveled up.
Three times, actually.
I'm level 5 now.
The skills I know of are: Poison Fang LV4, Spider Silk LV6, Appraisal LV2, Taboo LV1, Heterodox Magic LV1, Poison Resistance LV5, Acid Resistance LV2, Corrosion Resistance LV1, and Petrification Resistance LV1.
My level went up by three, but the skill levels didn't increase that much.
Appraisal hasn't budged from LV2 at all.
The proficiency bonus from leveling up seems to be smaller than I expected.
Also, I missed it during my very first level-up, but it seems like Skill Points increase when you level up too.
The amount seems pretty small, though.
When I heard the Voice of Heaven (tentative) say that I'd obtained Skill Points, I got excited, but when I tried to see if I could acquire any new skills, it was a no-go.
I mentally ran through all the standard skills you'd want at a time like this—Item Box, Auto-Regeneration if it existed, anything that seemed like it might exist—but none were available.
Basically, if a skill doesn't exist, the Voice of Heaven (tentative) doesn't even respond, and even if it did exist: 《Insufficient Skill Points》 was all I'd get back.
Apparently you can't just hoard skills and become overpowered.
The restrictions on skills were apparently even stricter than I'd imagined.
