"Now then, I've explained the annihilation of the Illusory Savior and the resurrection of the previous Hero. What remains is the murder of the World Will. Needless to say, this too relates to the other two."
Gwen spoke with an unchanging smile. She appeared to thoroughly enjoy her role as explainer.
It had been a while since she'd been on the surface; perhaps that's what had her spirits so high.
Diera, who had forcefully taken Henry's sake and was gulping it down, tossed out a question.
"So how exactly do we kill it? Even we can't mess with the laws of nature."
"I understand your concern. But you see, I've already hatched a plan!"
Gwen flailed her legs about excitedly as she clamored. She was so caught up in her own enthusiasm it was as if she were drunk.
Watching this, Logan looked utterly exasperated. He seemed to have progressed beyond contempt to something akin to pity.
Aware of this gaze yet choosing not to mind it, Gwen continued her explanation.
"To put it simply, we will integrate the World Will into the previous Hero. We'll make it a part of her, now that she is resurrected."
"Yet another preposterous attempt..."
Luciana muttered with a sigh. She possessed a fair amount of magical knowledge. She fully understood just how abstruse what Gwen had so casually stated truly was.
On top of that understanding, she kicked the proposed realization of the content firmly into the realm of the impossible.
In short, she didn't believe a word of it.
Standing atop the round table, Gwen made her way toward Luciana.
Then, ignoring her obvious reluctance, I shake her hand for some reason.
"If it is a formless law, then we just need to give it a form. The logic is quite simple, isn't it?"
"I understand the idea. But is it truly possible?"
Logan asked, unable to watch any longer.
Having distanced herself from Luciana, Gwen answered while dancing in a strange manner.
"Normally, it would be impossible first of all. That's on a different level from just using magic or something. However! The Demon King's Army has a rule-breaking cheat-man on its side. That's right, Harvelt!"
Gwen pointed at me with an exaggerated gesture.
Not knowing how to react, I remained seated in my chair.
In the strange silence that followed, Yura raised her hand.
As I nodded, she spoke.
"A question to Master—is the statement made by the individual named Gwen true?"
"Yes, it's possible."
If it's me, I can do it.
I have opposed the will of this world on numerous occasions.
When the beasts from the outside world attacked, it was none other than I who was targeted, and I was temporarily granted power.
It was at that time that I perceived what the "will of the world" truly was.
I tried a few times before the meeting, and even now I could grasp its outline.
Depending on how I did it, further interference seemed possible.
The will of the world I sensed from its outline had a structure like the roots of a tree.
The root tips were each connected to individuals, drawing out their desires like it was siphoning them up.
Of course, neither I nor anyone present here is an exception.
All living beings are under the influence of the world's will.
Like tracing roots, I extended my consciousness to the great source tree.
As a result, I was able to firmly perceive the concept that could be called the world will's true body.
While I cannot yet directly destroy it, this harvest is more than satisfactory.
For the plan Gwen described, I will utilize this sensation.
Using a specially developed forbidden spell, I will fix that person onto the world will's true body.
This will structure events so that the power of people's desires is concentrated there.
If successful, the inexplicable phenomena will cease.
The law of absolute invincibility will be subsumed as that person's unique ability.
Since it can no longer exert its previous ferocity, this would effectively mean the killing of the world's will.
Normally, this would be an absolutely impossible act.
In the first place, the world's will is not something that can be perceived.
Even if it could be perceived, at best, one could only recognize it.
For an individual to do anything about it is, under normal circumstances, impossible.
(It is only I, as the Demon Lord, who can do this)
Drawing upon nearly inexhaustible magical power and knowledge of sorcery, I will forcibly pull the desired outcome into being.
Furthermore, I intend to employ the beast's supernatural ability, a unique power not bound by this world.
By layering these multiple exceptions upon one another, this plan can be led to success.
"Let us revive the previous Hero and then widely publicize this to the entire world. By doing so, the positions of savior and receptacle for the world's will become her duty. After that, we need only leave it be, and the global situation should stabilize."
As Gwen says, the hero-versus-demon-lord framework is the natural order.
World stability comes from the balance between good and evil.
The existence of a hero itself becomes a beacon of hope for the people.
If we could eliminate the uncertain factor of the world's will, maneuvering the geopolitical landscape would become far more manageable.
That concludes the explanation of the three interconnected elements.
This is the plan that Gwen and I devised.
We had already been preparing it, stage by stage.
Once we secured the understanding and consent of the executive members, we intended to move into its execution.
"Might I ask one question?"
A quiet voice accompanied a raised hand.
It was the Great Spirit who spoke.
Amidst everyone's attention, she posed her query directly to me.
"Regarding the disposition of the resurrected hero, may I hear your policy? Do you intend to confront them as the Demon Lord?"
