When Huo Wu caught sight of Shi Feng's figure, her beautiful eyes flickered. Beyond the immense pressure she felt, she also caught the scent of death.

From the moment Shi Feng appeared, she had detected his presence.

However, Shi Feng's movement and combat style were so fast that it all felt like an illusion — it wasn't until the swordsman captain died that she snapped to her senses.

From the moment the first priest fell to the death of the Martial Alliance's swordsman captain, less than five brief seconds had passed. Everywhere he went, he was but a fleeting glimpse — then bodies thudded to the ground, blood splattering everywhere, as if the grim reaper himself were harvesting lives.

Moreover, Shi Feng's movements could only be described as ghostly and unpredictable. His ink-black cloak completely shrouded his head, making his face impossible to make out. On top of that, the Demon Mask concealed the player's name, level, and other information — aside from the visible health bar, nothing could be seen. It would have been perfectly natural to mistake him for a monster.

The reason Huo Wu realized Shi Feng wasn't a monster was that she heard the low words he spoke to the Martial Alliance's swordsman captain.

But if he wasn't a monster — if he was a player — that shocked Huo Wu even more.

What kind of stats would one need to be this powerful!

Shi Feng himself felt no surprise at accomplishing these things, because these players' stats didn't even reach half of his own.

Virtual games were just that cruel. The gap between levels, the gradual accumulation of stats — each individual difference seemed small, but once it accumulated to a certain degree, the gap in strength became this vast.

"Run! That's a monster!"

"I'm done fighting — that monster is terrifying!"

Although they knew this was virtual, the remaining five Martial Alliance players were still overwhelmed with terror, their hearts pounding. Their strongest captain had been killed in a single blow — they couldn't even mount basic resistance. This was no longer a monster players could handle. The group immediately fled, desperate to regroup with others rushing to the scene. Only then could they feel even a shred of security.

"Trying to run? Too late."

Shi Feng activated Wind Walk. He leapt forward in a single stride, like a shooting arrow, instantly catching up to the first assassin trying to flee. The assassin turned in panic to block, but Shi Feng's attack speed was far too fast. A single swing of Abyssal sent three sword shadows landing on the assassin's vitals before he could react. The assassin couldn't even block a single sword shadow before his life was extinguished.

The others fleeing for their lives watched as even the assassin — famed for his agility — died without even managing to raise his guard.

Terror instantly consumed their minds, and they ran with every ounce of strength they had.

But it was no use. Shi Feng closed in on them by the second, and that pitch-black blade hovered at their necks like the reaper's scythe — one slight movement, and it would claim their lives.

After a short while, under the absolute gap in speed, Shi Feng quickly dispatched all five fleeing players and began collecting his spoils.

The Martial Alliance players were well-equipped — the vast majority wore a uniform set of Bronze Equipment, though mostly four- or five-level gear. Some even had mixed-in Iron Rank Equipment, and upon death, each would drop at least one piece of equipment.

Eighteen people meant eighteen pieces of four- or five-level Bronze Equipment. Selling them would net a decent profit.

As Shi Feng gathered the loot, Huo Wu — standing in the distance — pressed her pale, delicate hand against her wildly beating heart, steadied her emotions, and mustered the courage to walk up to Shi Feng. "I'm Huo Wu," she said gratefully. "Thank you for saving us."

Huo Wu had already fallen into despair and accepted the prospect of death.

She never expected someone to suddenly appear and slaughter every last Martial Alliance member.

It felt like a dream.

Though Huo Wu worried that this mysterious man might suddenly turn on them and kill them for their equipment, his actions just now told her he likely wouldn't harm them — otherwise, he would have taken out the Martial Alliance swordsman captain along with the rest.
