The fort siege I'd left to Waldo was wrapped up in no time once the vampire girl joined the fight.
Against the humans holed up inside, the vampire girl single-handedly vaulted over the defensive wall on her own and broke through.
She created a living hell screaming with agony and brought the place to its knees.
Seriously, though—wasn't that a bit much?
Even if it's me saying it.
She apparently had some pent-up frustration.
And so, what you might call a blood-soaked capitulation rather than a peaceful surrender was achieved, and the fort is currently occupied by remnants of the Tenth and Seventh Armies.
I'm leaving whoever's left of the Seventh Army's captain-level folks in charge there, while the Tenth Army is scheduled to pull back before long.
When I say "occupied," there aren't exactly many survivors or prisoners to speak of.
The humans might try to recapture it, but they've got their own messes to deal with, so they won't be making any moves soon.
That means there's no real need to leave a large garrison behind.
More importantly, I want the Tenth Army free to maneuver for the upcoming assault on the
The other armies are either withdrawing or holding the forts they've taken.
The Second Army was supposed to have captured a certain fort, but thanks to that Breast Planet Person's schemes, it's overrun with monkeys—so they're keeping watch to make sure the monkeys don't come flooding into Demon race territory.
Though honestly, I suspect the real reason they're "keeping watch" is that the Breast Planet Person wants to keep those forces under their own command?
If they return intact, they might get raided for personnel to reinforce other armies, forcing a reorganization they'd rather avoid.
So they'd rather not come back.
Maybe they're even thinking about holding onto those forces and using them against the Demon King, if push comes to shove.
The Third Army is occupying the fort they captured.
That big idiot is too soft-hearted—even during a war, he's treating captured enemy soldiers properly and giving them generous treatment.
That's created extra work and hassle, so they probably won't be able to move for a while.
The Fourth Army is currently in the process of withdrawing.
They pulled out from the front lines earliest, so they'll probably be the first to return to Demon race territory.
Well, Mera's leading them, so there's nothing to worry about there.
The Fifth Army is also withdrawing.
Their damage was worse than the Fourth Army's, so they need to stop at a town along the way for medical treatment of the wounded and resupply.
Given the large number of casualties, they may end up staying in that town for some time.
Either way, they won't be moving anytime soon.
The Sixth Army is also withdrawing.
They're in even worse shape than the Fifth.
Their commander—Shota—was killed in action, and they lost a considerable number of soldiers.
Aside from the First Army, which was completely annihilated, they probably suffered the worst losses.
Reconstituting them as an army is nearly impossible, so they'll most likely be disbanded and their personnel distributed among the other armies.
Well, like the Fifth Army, it'll take time before they can return.
The Eighth Army is triumphantly returning home.
They won, after all.
Calling it a "withdrawal" wouldn't be right.
But the atmosphere is just as heavy as if they'd lost.
That's because Oni-kun went full monster mode and turned the battlefield into hell.
He took an already hellish battlefield and plunged it straight down into Naraku.
Terrifying stuff.
They've completely destroyed every fort that was supposed to be occupied, so there's no reason to stay put—they're heading home.
Prisoners? You think there'd be any?
The Ninth Army was never deployed in the first place, so I'll skip them.
That's technically a Demon King army, but not really a Demon King army.
So, the only force I can freely mobilize right now is the Demon King's direct army.
But that direct army serves as a defensive force for Demon race territory, so I can't very well deploy them on a whim.
Though honestly, for defense, the Demon King alone would handle most of it.
If it came down to it, I could summon the Puppet Spider or whatever Queens remain from the Taratect.
There are no armies I can move.
But does that mean there's nothing to do? Not at all.
There's a mountain of important post-battle work to handle.
Sending personnel with healing magic and medicinal supplies to the front lines to treat wounded soldiers.
Logistics resupply.
Summarizing the damage reports and taking a headcount of survivors.
From there, I need to draw up a reorganization plan and start moving toward the next objective—the Elf Village.
Once you get started, the work is basically endless.
I'll dump all of that on Fermina.
"No, please help me—"
Ganba!
I have my own things to do, you know!
No, seriously though.
This is the perfect opportunity to hunt down as many of the elves operating outside their village and their collaborators as possible.
Elves and their collaborators are quietly embedded in countries all over the world.
The fact that they managed to create a teleportation point in Demon race territory tells you just how wide their operational reach is.
They can use teleportation too, so rooting them out won't be easy.
Actually, it's probably impossible.
But taking action now at least serves as some degree of deterrence.
After all, we just defeated the cyborg body that
We'd be showing that we have the personnel capable of doing this, while simultaneously cutting down their numbers.
That should put them on edge.
Whether they retreat to the Elf Village or launch a counteroffensive, we can expect some kind of action.
If they pull back to the Elf Village, we might desperately uncover the teleportation circle they've been hiding so carefully.
If they come at us offensively, we can gather further intelligence on elf combat capabilities.
Either way, it's a net positive with no downside.
Hmm.
While I'm at it, I might as well double this as a leveling run for the vampire girl.
Taking the fort probably bumped her Level up a fair bit, but there's still plenty of room for growth.
"Alright, let's go."
"Wait—what do you mean 'alright'!?"
I grabbed the vampire girl, who'd been relaxing with Waldo at the fort.
We're going to teleport all over the world and raid every elf and collaborator base we can find.
A little world tour, you might say.
