Guide: About the Royal Academy The Royal Academy has five departments: the Magic Department, the Knight Department, the Civil Service Department, the Clergy Department, and the Arts Department.
The entrance examination consists of a written exam covering general knowledge common to all departments, followed by a practical exam for each department that tests the specific abilities required for that field.
After enrollment, in addition to the required courses for each department, students may take elective courses during their free time. Advancement and graduation are granted upon completing all required course credits and a set number of elective course credits.
Available electives include courses from one's own department as well as courses offered by other departments.
Students who fail to earn the necessary credits will be held back a year, but being held back twice in the same year results in expulsion.
Exceptions are made for students on leave due to health or family circumstances.
〇Magic Department The department for those aspiring to become magicians.
Course content centers on lectures and practical training in magic.
In addition to learning new spells, courses include monster ecology, alchemy (such as the creation of magic potions), astronomy, divination, ancient languages, history, and more. It's basically Hog——ts.
Post-graduation paths: Court magician, magician attached to a regional knight order, noble's bodyguard, alchemist crafting potions and the like, magic architect, etc.
Some rare individuals go on to become adventurers, archaeologists, or treasure hunters.
〇Knight Department The department for those aspiring to become knights.
Course content is centered on practical training in martial arts and the like, but there are also lectures covering tactics and strategy.
Practical field training includes not only physical combat exercises but also simulated warfare using pieces on a board, among other activities.
Post-Graduation Paths Royal Guard. Regional knight orders. Private soldiers for nobles. Bodyguards for wealthy merchants.
Rarely, some become adventurers or mercenaries.
○ Civil Service Department A department for those aspiring to become civil officials or domain lords.
Many aim to serve at the royal palace or as local magistrates, or to become heads of noble houses managing their domains.
Coursework is centered on lectures—politics, economics, law, history, foreign languages, etiquette, and more.
Students also handle actual documents and draft legislation; in some cases, bills created by students have been adopted by the royal palace.

○ Clergy Department A department for those aspiring to become priests, bishops, or nuns.
Many enter temples and pursue lives as clergy, while others become pilgrims and set out on journeys.
Coursework includes theology, medicine, history, healing magic, purification magic, barrier techniques, and more. There are also classes for learning how to counter monsters, undead, and curses.
Post-Graduation Paths Temple priests, bishops, nuns, and warrior monks. Pilgrims. Medical officers at the royal palace. Town physicians.
Rarely, some become adventurers or exorcists.
○ Arts Department A department for those aspiring to become painters, sculptors, or musicians.
It is a department dedicated to studying art, music, poetry, and more—and the one with the largest share of eccentrics.
The coursework covers painting, sculpture, instrumental performance, singing, poetry, literature, and drama, among other subjects.
Several times a year, events and regional tours are held to showcase students' artistic and musical talents, providing opportunities to demonstrate their skills to influential figures.
Post-Graduation Paths Court artist. Court musician. Freelance artist. Theater troupe member.
Many students also find patrons among nobles or wealthy merchants during their studies and go on to work for those patrons.
○ On Elective Courses Which electives a student takes depends on the career path each one aims to follow.
The curriculum closely resembles that of Japanese universities, but most students have already decided on their post-graduation path by the time they enroll, and they tend to select their courses accordingly.
Example: Rest's Case He is pursuing marriage into House Rosemary and aims to become a court magician.
His electives include Business Administration, Etiquette and Manners, Practical Swordsmanship, Healing Magic, Barrier Techniques, Social Dancing, and more.
These are for the education needed to become the head of a noble household, as well as to acquire magic that he cannot learn from his master, Diebl.

Example: Yuri Cattleya's Case She has no post-graduation path. She vaguely thinks only that she does not want to live a life bound to her family.
Her electives include Practical Swordsmanship, Horsemanship, Foreign Languages, Social Dancing, Medicine, Alchemy, Lady's Education, and more.
Essentially, it’s a stance of wanting to try things she’s never done before. She took up dance and lady’s education because the Rosemary sisters, who are her friends, recommended them.
