The assembled Mithril-rank and above adventurers each made their way into the dungeon.
"Alright, let's rush straight to the back, take down the source, and then we'll be Orichalcum too! Let's go, you guys!"
Eric and his party — four in total — entered the dungeon.
"No matter how strong Eric is, I don't think even he can solve the stampede on his own… The only one who got that skill was Eric, from opening a treasure chest. We've held our own, but we might not be able to keep up much longer."
"Ever since he got that skill, Eric changed. He wasn't even that arrogant before — was that his true self all along?"
The other members' conversation didn't reach Eric, who was lost in dreams of a bright future.
"Come on, let's go! You guys!"
"Yeah, yeah…"

This unpopular dungeon, once you descended a fair distance from the entrance, opened up into a wide field beneath a clear blue sky.
That was where the real thing began.
The monsters that appeared here were mainly beastkin-type.
The materials you could get from defeating them weren't worth much.
Eric cleaved a Werewolf in a single strike and pressed onward, savoring the sensation of himself growing stronger.
"Hey, this time you don't need to bother skinning the monsters. Even if you find a treasure chest, ignore it. We're going to smash the source and collect a fat reward from the guild. I'll make sure you guys get your fair share too!"
It was frustrating, but as long as they followed Eric, they wouldn't go hungry, and the risk of death was low.
Same as always — the members endured and tagged along.
While other adventurers advanced cautiously, Eric and his party charged forward without a care.
But for something that seemed like it could trigger a stampede, the number of monsters was fewer than he'd braced for.
He'd stocked up on plenty of potions and other supplies just in case, but...
Pressing deeper into the labyrinth, he found the corpses of upper-tier species like Black War Wolves scattered everywhere.
A bad feeling crept over him, but with the fallen monsters at his back, he pressed onward—until at the very end, he saw a massive creature and a boy locked in confrontation.
"That's a Kaiser Minotaur?! It's one of the top-tier monsters in the Orichalcum rank! There's no way some kid can take that thing down! ...No, wait— I can use him as a decoy! He'll be the
foundation
of my glory!"
The Kaiser Minotaur's entire body was clad in black armor. It wielded a giant axe in its right hand and another in its left, and atop its head sat six horns—the absolute pinnacle of bovine beastfolk.
Under normal circumstances, it would be an opponent far beyond his league, but if he could spot an opening and strike a vital point, maybe—just maybe—he could manage.
That was what Eric was thinking when the scene before him unfolded: the boy was in the very act of defeating the Kaiser Minotaur.
"BOOOOM!!"
The Kaiser Minotaur swung its axe down, but the boy dodged with effortless grace.
The missed axe gouged deep into the ground, and the shockwave from the impact reached all the way to where Eric stood.
A single hit like that would be the end of anyone.
Eric imagined what would happen if he took that blow himself, and cold sweat broke out across his skin.
"Bisecting Cleave!"
Dodging the axe attack and leaping lightly into the air, the boy brought his sword down and cleaved the Kaiser Minotaur clean in two from its head.
