The blonde, spiky-haired guy who'd chatted with me briefly in the border town of Carista appeared right in front of me.
"What do you want?"
"'What do you want'—don't give me that! Why the hell didn't you come to the High Goblin lair?! You're nothing but a coward—just as I expected from someone in the Raging division, that's all you're worth!!"
Had he really gone out of his way to come find me here?
Actually, he'd been patiently waiting for me, hadn't he?
But I had no reason to take him up on his offer.
"Sure, sure, I'm a coward, whatever. Goodbye."

"Fine, let's go. 'Teleport'."

The High Goblin lair, south of the town of Carista.
It smelled like goblin.
"H-Huh? Where is this?! Did you use a teleportation stone?!"
"Who cares about that. Anyway, this is right in front of the boss room—so what was it you wanted to do?"
"Ahem. I was going to show that Raging punk how it's done. Look, I'm heading into the boss room. I'll take down the Boss Mother High Goblin myself—that'll be the perfect example!"
The blonde spiky-haired guy charges into the boss room with enthusiasm.
I follow along in silence.
There, a female goblin that looked about three meters tall was waiting, holding a heavy-looking mace.
"This one has thick fat, so slashing attacks aren't very effective. But watch closely and behold my technique! 'One Stroke, Two Severing Sword'!"
The blonde spiky-haired guy leaps high and brings down his prized greatsword.
Beware and watch closely, he says... Isn't that headache redundant?
"GYAGYAAAAA!!!"
The slashing attack, enveloped in a black aura, struck the Mother High Goblin directly as she used the mace as a shield. The Mother High Goblin let out a death scream and was split cleanly in two.
"Haa-haa, did you see that? How about it! This is the power of Magrant, the Gold Rank! Haa-haa..."
Hmm, well, for Gold, that was a bit strong, wasn't it?
But exhausting all his power on that big move and now he's out of breath... that's a bit much.
"So, does that mean I just need to defeat the boss next?"
"Right. Of course, with a sword. It might have looked easy when I cut her, but you couldn't do it."
"You're probably right. So, when does this boss revive?"
"Half a day later. Think up a strategy by then!"

I approached the Mother High Goblin and swung the black steel sword in a horizontal slash.
This time, the Mother High Goblin didn't even let out a sound — sliced clean in two from the side before it even knew what had happened.
Sorry for killing you twice in such a short time.
If you're going to resent anyone, resent that spiky blond guy over there.
"Wha—... You just sliced through that thick fat of hers without using a single technique?! That's a mass of fat no ordinary swordsman could so much as scratch! No way — some punk from Raging?!"
Someone like Mist could probably do this too, honestly.
Besides, aren't you looking down on people way too much?
He's probably going to keep finding excuses to pick fights after this, too...
