During my next lecture, a large flame erupted from the instructor's palm as he explained.
"If you master it further, you can achieve sufficient effect even without chanting. Even if you can't reach that level, it's worth considering prioritizing chanting-free activation at the cost of power, so your intent isn't predicted before activation."
The instructor then extinguished the flame.
"'Burn!'"
The flame that appeared this time was slightly smaller than the previous one.
"Tch. As long as you use commoner mercenaries or knights as frontline shields, chanting doesn't matter. You just need to get it activated, right?"
A noble student somewhere in the classroom clicked their tongue.
As if it would be that simple once a chaotic battle broke out.

"Hey, Alan-kun, can you chant-less?"
"I think I probably can."
Melt-san asks me, but I can chant-less almost all of them.
In fact, for skills acquired through Reverse, I could use them without chanting from the start, so I've rarely bothered with chanting.
Also, my father repeatedly told Cain, "Slay the mage while they're chanting," which makes me somewhat reluctant to chant at all.
But that same father can only activate body-strengthening magic without chanting.
Probably because getting slain mid-chant during body-strengthening would be unbearable.
"Is it true you annihilated the scarecrow during enrollment? There's a rumor going around. It should be a student model, so it shouldn't have that high a durability, but even so, it's an expensive thing that can withstand most magic."
"Geez, seriously? That thing is that expensive? If the academy bills me for it, should I just pay up…"
I mean, I'd assume they handle it within the academy's budget, but still.
"Besides, Lord Gis recommending you — sure, Lord Gis is kind to commoners and all, but maybe you're actually some incredible person, Alan…"
"Just because Lord Gis is incredible doesn't mean I'm incredible."

And so, as I was chatting with Melty and heading for the classroom door, a leg jutted out from behind a desk.
I immediately activated Hard Body on my own legs.
The foot sweep was aimed at knocking me over, but thanks to earth magic body-strengthening that had hardened me to the level of steel, his foot broke instead.
"GYAAAAAAAAAH, THAT HURTS LIKE HELL!"
Everyone around us turned to look, wondering what the commotion was.
"A-Are you okay?"
Melty called out with concern.
"What the hell, Alan?! You commoners are over here flirting, and you broke my leg! You were supposed to trip and look like an idiot! Apologize to me, damn it!"
So apparently, walking and talking with a girl counts as flirting…
Are we going through puberty or something?
"No way. You're the one who stuck your foot out to trip me. And even if I did fall, Melty wouldn't laugh and say I looked stupid, so—"
I said that confidently, but she wouldn't laugh, right, Melty?
"I wouldn't laugh, but… Alan, you should really apologize quickly. That's the young master of Count Kenzor!"
Melty informed me.
But you see, that doesn't mean a thing to me.
"You've gone and made me angry! 'Let the will of rage take shape and become an exploding fire bullet — detonate, Burst Shot!'"
It looked like fire magic, so I'd meet it with water-attribute magic.
Something like Aqua Shoot should do the trick.
I fired a water bullet from the palm of my hand.
