"Phew, finally gone." Lin Lei quietly let out a breath of relief.

He knew full well that his strength was only that of a fourth-level warrior. Going toe-to-toe with a fifth-level Wind Wolf was practically suicide. Magic was his only option — but without enough speed, there was no way he could chant the incantations in time. Fortunately, his speed was impressive, and that was what had made the result possible.

"If a sixth-level mage had come along, they couldn't have done better than me. A sixth-level mage — at the typical speed of a sixth-level mage — wouldn't have been able to escape the Wind Wolves' pursuit. Surrounded by a pack of them, they probably wouldn't even have had time to cast a spell." At that moment, Lin Lei felt even more keenly how wise it had been to train his body's capabilities from the start.

Lin Lei glanced at the Ring on his left middle finger. He had been wearing it ever since he'd grown old enough.

"Thank goodness for the Coiling Dragon Ring. Without it, how could I have cast so many fifth-level spells in one go?"

An ordinary fifth-level mage could cast two fifth-level spells at most before running dry of magic power. Lin Lei was different — he had just unleashed three fifth-level earth spells, "Shattering Stone," once "Gravity Technique," once "Earth Guardian Holy Armor," and once "Earth Spike Formation." Six fifth-level spells in total.

The main reason was — the Coiling Dragon Ring.

The Coiling Dragon Ring had been obtained by Derinkoort long ago through a lucky accident. During one of his spell casts, Derinkoort had been astonished to discover that the same spell, when channeled through the Coiling Dragon Ring, required only one-sixth of the original magic power and mental power to achieve the same effect.

The Coiling Dragon Ring could communicate with earth-elemental energy far more effectively and manipulate it with greater ease. The burden on both mental power and magic power was drastically reduced.

One-sixth. What did that mean?

Consider a Saint Realm mage who could cast the terrifying "Destruction Storm" only once. With the Coiling Dragon Ring, that same mage could cast "Destruction Storm" six times over. Such a horrifying treasure — Derinkoort had been so thrilled that he declared it a blessing from the Mother Earth herself, and named it the "Earth Ring."

The divine artifact "Earth Ring."

That was what Derinkoort had called it. According to his own words, while there were other extraordinary treasures on the Yulan Continent that could make spellcasting easier for mages, virtually nothing compared to the "Earth Ring."

And after Lin Lei had obtained the Coiling Dragon Ring, he discovered during training that — "It's not just earth spells — even wind spells, and even my half-baked fire spells, when channeled through the Coiling Dragon Ring's connection to the world elements, only require one-sixth of the magic power and mental power." Lin Lei gazed at the Coiling Dragon Ring, his heart swelling with joy.

At that moment, Derinkoort materialized beside him.

"Stop staring at it. When I first obtained this ring back in the day, I never dared tell a soul. If word had gotten out, I'm sure countless Saint Realm powerhouses would have descended to fight over this treasure. Still, I never expected that the Coiling Dragon Ring would enhance not only earth spells, but wind and fire spells as well." Derinkoort clicked his tongue in admiration.

Lin Lei nodded. "I won't let this secret slip either." He understood all too well how precious the Coiling Dragon Ring was. If the news leaked, he would probably be torn apart by every Saint Realm expert across the entire Yulan Continent.

"Boss, is it over?" The voice of the little Shadow Mouse, , rang out. Bei Bei was currently near a patch of grass not far away — he hadn't joined the fight earlier, instead watching quietly from the sidelines.

Lin Lei smiled faintly.

"Phew, that stings a bit." He looked down at his chest. His shirt was in tatters, and blood was still seeping outward from the wound. Only now did Lin Lei carefully clean the injury while channeling earth-elemental energy to flow gently over it. The wound began to slowly knit itself back together.

Bei Bei watched Lin Lei tend to the wound, seeming to share in his tension.

"Boss, next time something like this happens, I'm definitely getting involved," Bei Bei suddenly transmitted via mental voice.

"Absolutely not. Only intervene if you see that I'm facing certain death with no way out on my own. Otherwise… what's the point of me coming to the to train?" Lin Lei's tone was firm, and Bei Bei immediately fell silent. He had been itching to tear into some enemies for a long time, but Lin Lei kept refusing to let him.

At that moment, roughly thirty meters away, hidden among the tall grass, a dark shadow lay perfectly still and utterly silent.
