The head of the Dawson Trading Company, "
"Hold!" The numerous knights simultaneously reined in their horses. The hooves flew up high before the horses finally came to a stop.
"Release the young master." Monroe Dawson ordered next. The red-haired ninth-level expert responsible for guarding Yeru made a small movement, and the ropes binding him snapped apart instantly. Yeru leaped right off the horse. Rein and George had already jumped down earlier.
"Third Brother, you're really okay." George's eyes were red with emotion.
"Third Brother, wonderful! I knew you'd be fine!" Yeru said excitedly.
George punched Lin Lei on the chest but said nothing.
"Third Brother, come on, leave
Monroe Dawson very much wanted Lin Lei to join the Dawson Trading Company.
What the Dawson Trading Company lacked was a Saint Realm expert!
"No thanks, I still have things to do. Brother Yeru, Second Brother, Fourth Brother — you all go ahead first." Lin Lei shook his head.
"Third Brother, don't tell me you're still going to—" Yeru exclaimed. He had already guessed what Lin Lei intended to do.
Lin Lei nodded: "Yes."
Kleid — he had to be killed!
The last attempt had failed because of the Saint Realm magic beast scroll, but Lin Lei believed it was already remarkable enough for a kingdom's king to possess one Saint Realm magic scroll. He didn't believe Kleid would have two. Moreover, the Saint Realm experts of the Church of Light were currently struggling to protect themselves and likely had no energy left to guard a king.
"Brother Yeru, wherever you're headed, I'll come find you later," Lin Lei said.
"There are too many magic beasts this time.
George and Rein both nodded.
"Alright then. I'll find you all later. Brother Yeru, Second Brother, Fourth Brother — farewell." Lin Lei gazed at his dear brothers, gave them a firm nod, then without the slightest hesitation leaped forward at great speed, reaching a hundred meters away in just a few bounds.
Yeru, Rein, and George understood — it would be difficult for the four brothers to meet again.
The three of them quickly mounted their horses.
"Hyah!"
The cavalry of the Dawson Trading Company resumed its advance.
That day, many families in all of Fenn City faced the threat of annihilation, and the Debus Family was no exception. The patriarch, Bernard, and the first heir, "Kalan," were both crushed to death under the foot of the Saint Realm magic beast, the Purple-Eyed Golden-Furred Ape. Before the Debus Family even had time to think about who would inherit the patriarch's position, the family suffered an even greater catastrophe.
Magic beasts stormed into the Debus Family estate.
Guards, servants, maids, and clan members fell one after another. The people of the Debus Family went completely mad, each grabbing whatever valuables they could find and fleeing in every direction. At a time like this, few people were thinking about anyone but themselves.
"Sister Alice, what do we do?" Rosalind was completely stunned.
Alice, who had been dazed from the start, had now come to her senses.
"Follow me," Alice ordered immediately. Alice was a fourth-level mage, and Rosalind was a fourth-level warrior. For their age, that was indeed quite impressive. But with fifth-level magic beasts everywhere, they had absolutely no ability to resist.
Alice led Rosalind as they charged into Kalan's room and pulled two Magic Crystal Cards straight from a box.
"Rosalind, these two cards each hold a hundred thousand gold coins. It's enough for us to live on. Let's go right now." Alice and Rosalind each tucked a card into their clothes and burst out of the estate. One was a mage and the other a warrior.
At least their physical conditioning was solid, and they were nimble runners.
"Help me! Ah—!"
A maid came sprinting desperately toward Alice and Rosalind. Behind her was a Wind Wolf. The Wind Wolf lunged forward and in an instant reached her side, sinking its teeth viciously into her throat. The maid stared fixedly at Alice and Rosalind, her eyes filled with a desperate longing for life. Then her gaze gradually dimmed.
Rosalind watched this scene in a daze, completely horrified.
"Run!" Alice grabbed the stunned Rosalind. Now was not the time for anyone to have a soft heart — that would be suicide. Forget the two of them; even a ninth-level expert wouldn't dare show excessive mercy right now. After all, across all of Fenn City, there were over a dozen Saint Realm magic beasts alone, and nearly a hundred ninth-level ones.
The lower-level beasts were even more numerous, especially fifth- and sixth-level magic beasts. The Wind Wolf packs alone numbered in the hundreds of thousands. The entire population of Fenn City was barely over a million, and most residents only had the strength of the first or second level — utterly incapable of fighting back.
"Rip!" The two young women, Alice and Rosalind, tore apart their wedding gowns to run faster.
"Sister Alice, there are magic beasts up ahead!" Rosalind shouted.
"This way." Alice dragged Rosalind toward a small alley nearby.
But through the narrow passage, they could clearly see that the far end of the alley was blocked by magic beasts as well. Alice and Rosalind had no choice but to remain trapped in the alley between two estates.
"ROAR~~" From the other end of the alley, a Bloodthirsty Iron Bull suddenly charged in.
"Run!" Alice yanked Rosalind and they burst out of the alley, no longer caring about the beasts ahead — there were plenty of other people in front of them, and the beasts wouldn't necessarily target the two of them. They sprinted forward with everything they had.
Their breathing grew heavy. The edge of life and death pushed their nerves to the absolute limit.
"Howl!" "Howl!" "Howl!" …
Suddenly, from behind, over a dozen Wind Wolves came chasing at tremendous speed. Wind Wolves were simply too fast — twice as fast as Alice and Rosalind. In no time, the pack was nearly upon them. And just then, a massive Earthdrake appeared directly in front of Alice.
