Chapter Ninety-Three: Trigger

Leilin clenched his fists, and his palms gripping the hilt of his sword were noticeably stiff.

A bluish pallor had even spread across his face, as if he had suffered frostbite.

Keep in mind, Leilin had a physique score of a full 3.7! If an ordinary person had been in his place, they would have frozen to death long ago!

"I have no intention of opposing you. Just let those two girls go, and I'll leave immediately!"

Leilin pointed his Cross Sword toward Biji, earning a grateful look from her.

"No! Make him release Brother Jiamen first, otherwise I won't leave!"

Next to Biji, the female apprentice he had rescued stubbornly refused to back down.

Leilin rolled his eyes. If it weren't for Biji, did she really think he would have jumped out to play hero? And from the way things had gone earlier, it was obvious Jiamen had crossed this person badly — why would the other side let him go easily?

Sure enough, after hearing the apprentice's words, Tolezas on the other side gave a cold stare and waved his hand without hesitation. A thick bolt of lightning split the sky and slammed straight into Jiamen on the other end of the battlefield.

BOOM!!! All the vines clinging to Jiamen were blasted away, and he fell completely unconscious, his entire body turned black like a piece of charcoal.

"Sorry, but everyone present here today — I'm not letting a single one of you go!"

Tolezas spread his hands.

According to the Chip's readings, Jiamen still showed signs of life despite his terrible appearance, so Leilin paid him no further attention. Instead, he grew far more wary of this apprentice's methods.

"Lightning-type spells really are among the most powerful of all spells. Jiamen had Magical Items on him — even if they were purely offensive with hardly any defensive capability — but to fall this quickly? No! It was more like the other guy had been toying with him the whole time!"

"And now, this is my home turf!!!"

Tolezas charged straight at him, brandishing a short black staff-like object.

"Hmph! Playing tricks!" Leilin snorted coldly and swung his Cross Sword directly at him.

CLANG!!! Leilin's speed was inevitably affected by the icy conditions — the almost-afterimage speed he normally displayed was no longer achievable. The black-haired Tolezas tracked the trajectory of the Cross Sword, and the two weapons collided.

Leilin's strength was clearly superior to his opponent's, and the Cross Sword was also of finer make than the metal staff in Tolezas's hand.

Once the weapons locked together, Leilin poured strength into both arms, and the long blade gradually forced its way toward the other side.

"Heh heh… Not bad strength!"

Watching the sword tip less than a few inches from his face, Tolezas showed not the slightest trace of panic. In his eyes looking at Leilin, there was instead a hint of mockery and… the pleasure of revenge?

A jolt of alarm shot through Leilin's mind. He suddenly let go of the Cross Sword and leaped backward.

The instant he released his grip, several arcs of electricity surged from Tolezas's hand, running along the black short staff into the Cross Sword and shooting straight toward Leilin's palms!!!

At the split second before the current struck him, Leilin's decision to abandon the sword allowed him to dodge the attack.

"Too slow!" Tolezas fixed his gaze on Leilin's figure and rapidly spat out a few syllables.

The electricity from the short staff burrowed into the earth, spreading outward like tree roots, and in the blink of an eye it caught up to Leilin.

ZZZZAP!!! Blue lightning bolts erupted from the ground, bursting forth right in front of Leilin with terrifying speed.

The blue currents coiled like venomous snakes, shooting straight at Leilin's face.

"Ah!" Biji couldn't help but cry out, clapping a hand over her mouth.

TING! A silvery membrane suddenly appeared over Leilin's body.

It enveloped his entire form in an instant, covering even his eyes, nose, and other facial features without gaps.

On the surface of the silver film, several phantom images of red gemstones flickered in and out, radiating an eerie luster.

The blue lightning contorted into the shape of a python, its eyes wild with frenzy. Opening its maw, the fangs formed of pure electricity collided head-on with the silver barrier.

ZZZCRACK!!!

The sound of metal striking porcelain rang out — a piercing, ear-splitting noise that swept across the battlefield. Biji clapped her hands over her ears to spare her nerves from the assault.

Lightning crackled violently across Leilin's body, and from time to time several snake-like arcs converged together, producing terrifying explosions.

From a distance, Leilin now resembled a silver statue undergoing a baptism of thunder.

The lightning barrage continued for twenty to thirty seconds before finally subsiding.

Leilin's face carried a look of astonishment as he read the information the Chip had provided.
