"Madmen! They're all madmen!"
Raylin still felt a lingering sense of dread. "Such a crazy course of action would surely provoke the desperate counterattack of the entire Divine World, forging an eternal, irreconcilable grudge in the end... Even the will of the Wizard World itself would probably not allow it..."
Those crazed peak eighth-level beings had surely all perished in the ancient Final War.
Of course, it was also possible that some had survived, lurking in the shadows and quietly licking their wounds, waiting for the opportunity to stage a comeback.
After all, once one reached the seventh level, both vitality and adaptability would be amplified to an inconceivable degree.
The so-called splitting into thousands of clones or rebirthing from a single drop of blood was nothing more than a simple matter for those who had reached the pinnacle.
"Perhaps... among the beings I encountered this time, there were some whose ambitions hadn't died — people who wanted to launch yet another invasion?"
Raylin stroked his chin, a slight smile curling at the corner of his lips. "But... I like it!"
"Advancement after the seventh level is far too slow — how could it compare to the speed of plundering?"
The Mother of the Earth's Core had also relayed a very important piece of information to Raylin this time — concerning the gods of the Divine World.
Though those gods were also seventh-level Wizards who had comprehended Laws, they had taken a fundamentally different path from Wizards like Raylin. They called it the Path of Faith!
By gathering the emotions of countless intelligent beings — even the soul power that seeped away from them — they achieved a high-frequency fusion with Laws, then ignited the divine fire and embarked on the path of apotheosis.
Due to the differences between worlds, the power systems of each world varied greatly, and some were completely inapplicable in others. Raylin had already gained a deep understanding of this.
Although their Path of Faith bore some resemblance to the Path of Sacrifice, there were fundamental differences between the two.
Of course, Raylin's focus wasn't on that — it was on another major revelation the Mother of the Earth's Core had divulged: the power of Laws possessed by those gods could be easily seized by Wizards!!!
During the ancient war, there had been many instances of Wizards slaughtering gods, plundering their power of Laws, and advancing at tremendous speed!
Furthermore, there were rumors that the other side could seemingly do the same, though it required paying an enormous price.
"Seize the power of Laws?"
Raylin chuckled. He had known about this for a long time — he had even put it into practice!
Yes, that Gluttony Lord — Beelzebub — was a god from the Divine World!!!
Well, or perhaps "devil" would be more accurate. Over there, factions seemed to be divided along the axis of good and evil — orderly beings were called gods, while the others bore titles like devil or demon.
But regardless of what names were used, one couldn't deny that they wielded immense power, reducing countless other intelligent beings to worship and terror.
"As a fellow being who had grasped the power of Laws, I couldn't seize Enosit's power of Laws at all. Perhaps after reaching the eighth level I'd have that ability, but it would still demand enormous cost and effort — and that was with me having already mastered the Devouring Law... But Beelzebub was different. During my last advancement, even with the full support of the Purgatory World's will, plus all my prior planning, the process had still been far too easy..."
The target came from the Divine World, where the power of Laws was extremely easy to seize. This was one of the reasons Raylin had selected him as a target.
Otherwise, Raylin could simply have targeted the Mother of Myriad Serpents directly, but stripping away the power of Laws she had mastered would have been an almost impossible task, one that would inevitably introduce enormous variables into his next advancement.
"According to the Earth Core Mother, beings of Laws in the Divine World all share this characteristic — their power comes from the combination of some form of Divine Office, Divine Fire, and the power of faith. If you find the right method, seizing their power of Laws is far easier than doing so with beings of Laws from non-Divine Worlds... And this was precisely one of the reasons the ancient Wizard World's many wizards agreed to go to war — the powerful ones would plunder the origin of the Divine World, while the other beings of Laws would hunt down the gods to obtain different powers of Laws and advance rapidly..."
"Of course... there were also variables in all this..."
Raylin fell into deep thought. After all, if everything were that simple, the Divine World would have been destroyed long ago.
"Those gods, while generally weaker in combat outside the Crystal Wall System, would often receive tremendous amplification once they fought on their home ground within the Divine World — amplification so great that they frequently surpassed wizard powerhouses of the same level!"
"Moreover, within the personal demiplanes and domains they had constructed themselves, this amplification would often reach an inconceivable degree, allowing them to fight opponents of higher levels..."
The Wizard World coalition force at the time hadn't consisted of the Wizard World alone. After all, it had been the era when ancient Wizard civilization was at its most brilliant and glorious, and many conquered worlds had also produced large numbers of powerful wizards who joined the great war.
But the final result was that the Divine World had stood virtually alone against numerous powerful worlds, and the war had ended in mutual devastation.
This terrifying outcome had left many wizards pale at the mere mention of the gods ever afterward.
"After all, it was the power system of the most powerful world — the Path of Faith always had its merits!"
A sharp gleam flickered in Raylin's eyes.
