Chapter 655. The Maze

Leilin had experienced the sensation of space-time traversal many times before, and this was no different.

The instant he passed through the Star Gate, the True Spirit within Leilin's sea of consciousness — already at the pinnacle of the New Moon stage — flickered brilliantly. A layer of gentle, cool, yet incredibly solid soul power enveloped his body, blocking out both spatial turbulence and the terrifying pressure of the world beyond.

A Dawn Star Wizard could already travel freely near the gaps between worlds relying on their own defenses alone. For a Radiant Moon Wizard, this was even less of an issue.

Through his soul power scan, Leilin sensed a world filled with an enormous quantity of fire-element particles. Unlike the lava world he had experienced before, this world had none of the rocky or earthy energy particles — it was pure crimson, saturated entirely with fire-element particles.

Moreover, the world force of this entire fire-element world was several times more vast than that of the lava world. If the previous lava world had been a tiny spark, then this fire-element world gave Leilin the impression of being, if not a blazing sun, then at least on the level of the moon.

"The larger the world, the denser its world force. Under the influence of such concentrated world force, it was hardly surprising that a sixth-level Wizard could comprehend partial fire-element laws…"

Leilin sighed.

As the sixth-level Wizard who had conquered the entire Flame World, the Flame Throne was undoubtedly the "Child of the World" here. Supported by the fire-element world force of the entire world, his comprehension of flame laws could only be described as progressing at a thousand miles per day.

With such favorable conditions, comprehending partial flame laws was only natural.

"No wonder both ancient and modern Wizards frantically conquered surrounding otherworlds — they had seen these benefits! During the process of conquering a world, one would gradually merge with that world's world force, eventually comprehending laws and breaking through the seventh-level barrier?"

Leilin suddenly had an epiphany.

"Then, if the Wizard World — a world far more powerful than the Flame World — could be completely conquered, what kind of benefits would a Wizard gain after earning the world force's favor?"

Leilin's heart burned with fervor. Although the Wizard World was incomparably vast, with not only a surface layer still not fully explored but also countless underground worlds, the difficulty of conquering it was significantly less compared to the ancient era when rule-comprehending Wizards had been a common sight.

"Even those Wizards who merely conquered small worlds could reap enormous benefits. What if the greatest world of all — the Wizard World — were completely conquered?"

"I imagine! A Wizard who could successfully unify the Wizard World and earn its world force's favor would at the very least be able to use that power to reach the pinnacle of the ninth level!"

Leilin murmured, unable to hide his longing for this ultimate realm of Wizardry.

Could the pinnacle of the ninth level — the apex of Wizardry — grant eternity? This question had always lingered in the depths of Leilin's heart, but only after reaching that level would he have the qualifications to continue exploring upward.

For Leilin, eternity was the goal, and Wizardry was merely the means. If the ninth level could not grant eternity, then he would dig deeper still — even if it meant dying a hundred times over, he would not regret it!

The path of hope suffered no doubt, nor any trace of cowardice or wavering!

"The great feat of unifying the Wizard World that even the ancient Wizards could not accomplish — I shall be the one to inherit it!"

Leilin clenched his fist in silence.

Amidst a sea of flames, gold and crimson colors filled every direction, the scorching temperature climbing ever higher.

The air was unbearably dry, enough to choke the breath right out of one's lungs.

Some elemental creatures, composed entirely of fire-element energy, drifted back and forth through the flames.

To any flesh-and-blood life form, the true Flame World was a living hell — but for elemental creatures whose bodies were made entirely of fire-element particles, it was paradise!

In the void, lightning crackled as a massive gate of light swung open, revealing the silhouettes of Leilin and the other Wizards.

The energy radiating from the Radiant Moon Wizards caused the flames to part of their own accord, not daring to intrude.

"What incredible temperature! The Flame World is completely unsuitable for any life other than elemental beings!"

Melinda carefully enveloped her skin in a layer of cool water-element defensive light membrane, a sight that made Leilin silently roll his eyes.

"We need to be careful. For the Flame Throne, the Flame World is his true lair. Most of his non-human Dawn Star and Radiant Moon forces are stationed here. If not for the need to suppress rebellions from other fire-element beings and contend with the world's suppression, he would have already transferred these fire-element forces to the main world long ago…"

After properly tending to her skin, Melinda finally turned around, her expression somewhat solemn.

Leilin and the others all nodded. How many Dawn Stars and Radiant Moons could a world produce? If these forces ever entered the Wizard World, they would likely cause tremendous upheaval.

But there were also problems. Setting aside the need to maintain control over the Flame World, the unfamiliar environment and the world's suppression were both formidable obstacles.

The Wizard World was one of the most powerful worlds in existence, exerting terrifying suppression upon any outsider. When powerful beings from other worlds entered the Wizard World, being suppressed by several levels was the least of their worries — the unluckiest ones would be directly crushed by the world force itself, reduced to nothing more than endless dust drifting through the void.

For Leilin and his companions, traveling from the Wizard World to other worlds was like moving from a high-level dungeon to a low-level one. Even with world suppression, it was rarely severe, and there was no risk of their ranks dropping.

But for the natives traveling from a low-level world to a high-level one, things were far less forgiving.
