Buzzing!
The white light, its momentum spent, sank into the ground. One corner was embedded in the floor, and the body of the white light still trembled relentlessly, revealing the face of a playing card—the Seven of Spades!
On the white playing card, there were still faint traces of purple—the blood of the fleeing figure up ahead.
Though its arm had been gravely injured, the diminutive dark figure ahead seemed remarkably tenacious, leaping almost without pause into an enormous ball pit nearby.
A kaleidoscope of coloured balls burst outward, only to fall back in, bouncing one after another across the floor.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Several streaks of white radiance shot through the air, each one enveloping the face of a playing card.
The thin, blade-like playing cards now possessed terrifying cutting power. Everything in their path—coloured balls, structures—was sliced cleanly in half. The entire ball pit collapsed, coloured balls scattering across the floor in every direction, but the dark figure was gone.
Tap! Tap!
A pair of black leather shoes scraped against the floor, producing a crisp sound.
The playing cards on the ground and walls, as if pulled by invisible threads, flew back of their own accord into the newcomer's hand, forming a thick stack.
The person wore a perfectly pressed suit, a top hat on his head, his face concealed behind a white mask—looking for all the world like a croupier in a casino.
Crack! Crack! Mechanical sounds emanated from his body as his head abruptly swiveled one hundred and eighty degrees, locking onto a spot to the side. His body lurched violently, and he burst into motion with movements that defied the laws of physics.
"Boom!"
A steel railing buckled and deformed under his impact, and then an entire building crashed down. White light shot out, severing the support pillar of a massive Ferris wheel. The enormous dark structure toppled to the ground.
Amidst the clouds of dust, the gaunt dark figure from before crawled out in disarray. It glanced back at the croupier, terror flashing across its face, and ran even faster.
"Bang!" Suddenly, it collided with a figure standing in its path—a humanoid shape in a white protective suit, looking somewhat bulky. Through the transparent glass visor of the mask, a handsome face was visible.
"kakdgmoagkmlamgal;kdm……"
The gaunt dark figure blurted out a string of words, frantic and rapid, but Leylin could not understand a single syllable. Through the sensitivity of his soul force, however, he could roughly grasp the meaning: "Something dangerous behind—run!"
"Don't worry, little one!" Leylin looked at the intelligent being before him.
It bore a strong resemblance to a human—thin limbs, small stature, like an ordinary human child. Its face and body were covered in black ash, making its original features impossible to discern. A crude garment of rough hemp cloth was pulled directly over its frame.
The only notable difference from a human was the network of fine purple patterns visible on its skin, like tattoos, giving off an eerie, otherworldly luminescence.
On its arm was a wound that exposed the purple muscle tissue beneath, with copious amounts of dreamforce lingering around it, gradually knitting the wound shut.
Leylin's pupils contracted. He patted the small creature's head, and the gentle pulse of energy he released immediately soothed it into calm.
Creak! Creak!
Accompanied by this sound, a figure resembling a dealer from casinos in his previous life appeared before Leylin, only a white mask covering his original face.
The moment he saw the dealer, Leylin felt the small creature beside him clutch his clothes tighter, its unease reaching its peak.
"So he's the one who's been chasing you?" Leylin turned his head, then couldn't help but smile wryly: "Forgot we don't speak the same language!"
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Several playing cards flew straight toward him, easily dodged by Leylin.
"Fire!" He calmly uttered a single syllable. Although most of the rules within the Dream World differed from the outside, the Wizard system was universally applicable across worlds — the only difference being the degree of its power.
A mass of crimson flame suddenly engulfed the dealer opposite him, scorching tongues of fire beginning to spread outward in every direction.
The small creature beside him stared wide-eyed, clearly never having expected Leylin to be so powerful, but Leylin himself was frowning.
"A Tier 4 spell from the Wizard World, and in the Dream World it only has this much power?"
The system of the Wizard World was a universal system, but it would be suppressed to varying degrees in every world. Clearly, within the Dream World, this suppression had reached an extreme.
After all, the mainstream power here was the use of dreamforce — it was only natural that foreign power systems would not hold an advantage.
From within the flames, a dark silhouette slowly walked out.
