Chapter 399. Killing Moves and Meditation

Rumble!!!

Meteorites exploded across the sky, unleashing torrents of fire rain upon the earth.

And every single drop of that fire rain carried the devastating power of a wizard's spell exceeding a thousand degrees!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

It was as if the world were being destroyed! The ground trembled, the sky wailed! Even the void itself could barely endure it—massive spatial rifts formed and collapsed in rapid succession!

The two leading third-rank Crystalized Wizards couldn't even finish a single sentence before being blown to shreds beneath the meteoric flames. The massive explosions then spread outward relentlessly.

The vast area surrounding the city instantly became an inferno of hellfire!

The numerous Thorn Hammer wizards had no power to resist the fire rain whatsoever. All they could do was watch in despair as the flames devoured them—given the impossibly wide range of the apocalyptic fire rain, every attempt at escape was rendered a cruel joke!

After one wave of fire rain fell, the entire Thorn Hammer wizard army had been annihilated. And aside from the city where Kaso remained unscathed, everything around it had become hell itself—the earth's crust had buckled inward, molten lava churned in every direction, as though they had been transported in an instant to an ocean of magma.

The image shut off, but Leilin still wore an expression of shock, unable to recover for a long while.

"The area where Lord Kaso cast that spell later formed a cluster of active volcanoes that erupt several times a year on average, and every living creature within several hundred miles was affected to the point of extinction, creating a dead zone…" Robin continued explaining to Leilin.

"So this is what happens when a wizard's power pushes the rules to their absolute limit?" Leilin murmured.

"And ever since that incident, every Dawn Star Wizard in the central region jointly signed a peace accord, stipulating that unless extraordinary circumstances arise, Dawn Star killing moves must not be used in the central continent, and environmental destruction on such a massive scale is strictly forbidden!"

Robin smiled bitterly. The destructive range of a Dawn Star killing move was far too terrifying—if it weren't constrained, after just a few major wars there would be nowhere left in the entire central continent habitable enough to live, and it would eventually suffer the same destruction as in ancient times.

"Hah…" Leilin let out a long breath.

That scene had genuinely shaken him to his core.

Although he had previously possessed some memory fragments from the Scorpion Man, Dawn Star beings and Dawn Star wizards were fundamentally different. What he had been able to sense from those fragments was the otherworldly physical strength of those beings—monstrously powerful. As for the ancient great war at the end, it had been far too high-level for him to fully comprehend.

And now, a Dawn Star wizard had just shown him, through concrete fact, what kind of terrifying qualitative transformation occurred once a wizard advanced to the fourth rank and wielded pure magical power!

"How can fourth-rank magic produce such a terrifying effect? Even a combined spell shouldn't be capable of this!" Leilin murmured to himself.

"Ha! This is a Dawn Star Wizard's combined killing move! An ancient forbidden art! How could it possibly compare to those piddling combination spells? A normal combination spell that can boost power by a hundred percent is already at the absolute ceiling! But a Dawn Star killing move multiplies power by at least ten times or more!"

Robin shook his head, looking thoroughly unimpressed.

"That's impossible—ordinary magic simply can't sustain that kind of drain! Unless…" Leilin's eyes lit up as something suddenly clicked.

"Exactly! You figured it out immediately! Yes! Only by using innate talent spells that consume very little from the wizard but produce vastly greater power can a Dawn Star killing move be formed! And the high-level Meditation Methods of ancient times—those were designed by ancient wizards through countless generations of experimentation to be the most suitable innate talent spells for combining into Dawn Star killing moves, then solidified into the Sea of Consciousness!"

Robin laid out the details directly.

"A high-level Meditation Method must have at least four tiers, precisely for this reason! Only wizards who have cultivated their innate talent spells step by step following a high-level Meditation Method can combine those spells at the fourth rank to form a Dawn Star killing move! That is why the fourth tier of a high-level Meditation Method is the most precious part!"

"Then what about wizards who use Greenspring Water to solidify innate spell templates?" Leilin suddenly asked, then immediately realized he had asked a rather foolish question.

"Greenspring Water paired with innate spell templates? Is that the advancement method from your homeland? We have something similar in the central continent too… Thank goodness you didn't choose that path, junior brother!"

Robin wore an expression that said you are very lucky.

"The combination of a Dawn Star killing move represents precious experience that ancient wizards accumulated over who knows how many generations of experimentation. Those wizards who solidified themselves with all sorts of miscellaneous innate spells—if they manage not to drain each other they're already incredibly lucky—and they want to combine a killing move? Keep dreaming! If they got blown up I wouldn't be the least bit surprised!"
