"Chip, examine Gulicha!"
Leilin gave the command, and indeed, on Gulicha's image, some organs within his body, especially the lungs, had begun to show signs of disease.
Apprentices already had spell resistance. How intense must the radiation be to overwhelm even an apprentice?
Leilin's expression shifted several times. "What did the Academy say?"
"What can they say? Nisi signed an agreement with her mentor before the experiment; they don't even have to pay compensation!" Duoduolier's voice was tearful.
Leilin fell silent. Many apprentices with poor aptitude and no Magic Stones were randomly assigned to mentors. If they were lucky and got someone like Guofate, it was a stroke of great fortune. If they encountered wizards who liked to conduct human experiments, they could only blame their bad luck.
Moreover, many apprentices, tempted by their mentors' promises, signed agreements to cooperate with experiments, and it was even possible for them to end up dead.
Black Bone Forest Academy had apprentices dying from experimental accidents every year. Compared to that, Nisi was lucky to have kept her life.
"So why did you come to me? If you want justice or something like that, I'm afraid I can't help!"
Leilin made his stance clear from the start. Challenging a formal wizard as an apprentice was something only a madman would consider.
"We don't have that expectation. We just want you to take a look and see if there's still hope for Nisi?" Gulicha quickly waved his hands.
Leilin nodded. After all, Guofate, an Apothecary, was standing behind Gulicha. If even he couldn't do anything, then Nisi would have no choice but to despair.
"Would you mind if I take a look?" Leilin asked Nisi.
"I don't mind!" Nisi's voice was faint, almost inaudible.
Leilin leaned closer, the foul stench becoming even stronger. He suppressed his reaction and lifted Nisi's hand.
Every finger was thicker than a radish, covered in a purplish-blue hue, and marked with repulsive, circular wrinkles.
The hand of a young girl, once fair and smooth, had become this. Leilin estimated that if he couldn't offer any hope, Nisi would probably wish for death.
Leilin pressed the back of her hand. "Can you feel that?"
"No!"
"Her defenses seem quite strong!" Leilin evaluated silently. He took out a gleaming silver scalpel from his waist pouch.
The sharp blade brushed across the surface of her palm, causing the skin to dimple slightly, but it didn't even break the skin!
Leilin frowned and applied force, channeling all his Knight-level strength into the blade. The scalpel finally cut through Nisi's skin, and a drop of yellow pus welled up.
Leilin quickly took out a test tube and collected the pus.
He then dabbed a little hemostatic potion onto it. The wound on Nisi's hand healed rapidly, and in just over ten seconds, no trace of it remained.
"Amazing regeneration!" Leilin secretly praised, but dared not say it aloud.
Seeing Duoduolier and Gulicha staring at him motionlessly, Leilin smiled faintly.
"Jodamo—Xiladuo!" As the incantation sounded, a slight whirlwind suddenly rose in the room.
Black mist continuously billowed, forming a very blurry humanoid figure in front of Leilin.
Gulicha and Duoduolier were stunned, and even Nisi took a few steps back.
"I didn't expect that in just over a year, he's already reached this level. Could it be that aptitude problems truly cannot be overcome?" Gulicha looked at Leilin, who was casting the spell, his expression complex.
Leilin paid no attention to Gulicha; his focus was entirely on the summoned entity before him.
"Here!" Leilin spoke in Ancient Byronian, tossing the test tube containing Nisi's bodily fluids to the dark figure.
The figure's eyes glowed red, it had no arms, and it caught the test tube directly with its mouth. *Crack!!*
The test tube shattered, and the dark figure swallowed the yellow pus whole.
*Whoosh whoosh!!!* As the yellow pus entered its body, the dark figure seemed to become very unstable, roaring loudly, causing fine beads of cold sweat to appear on Leilin's forehead.
"Kelin—Stamos!" Leilin's incantation continued without pause. He took several dark green stones from his leather pouch and continuously threw them into the dark figure.
After about three or four minutes, the dark figure stopped its frenzy and spoke a few halting words to Leilin.
Gulicha and the others perked up their ears to listen, but the language was very unfamiliar, completely unlike Byronian.
From ancient times to the present, after countless ages, many wizard groups had invented their own unique casting languages. Learning them all was a pipe dream.
The dark figure roared continuously before disappearing with a final shout.
Leilin watched the vanished figure and couldn't help but heave a long sigh of relief.
"How is it?" Nisi asked, concerned most about her own condition.
"Very difficult! Your constitution has been completely transformed, and a large amount of polluted energy still lingers inside you. If you weren't still a wizard apprentice, you'd be dead already!" Leilin shook his head.
Hearing Leilin's assessment, Nisi's eyes went blank, and she took a few steps back.
"However, it's not completely hopeless!" Leilin continued.
