As far as Leilin knew, every day, black wizards from all corners came to The City That Never Sleeps in disguise, to conduct their purchasing and fencing activities.
The city guards completely turned a blind eye to their actions.
It could be said that a large part of The City That Never Sleeps' prosperity was supported by these black wizards.
Within The City That Never Sleeps, as long as black wizards did not proactively reveal their identities, no white wizards would come looking for trouble.
Therefore, Leilin merely smiled slightly and said to Jenna, "I long for a peaceful life, which is why I came to the Terijones Plains. I will strictly abide by the rules here..."
"The City That Never Sleeps is a wealthy and beautiful city. You'll definitely come to love it here!"
Jenna said with a smile.
Leilin chatted casually with Jenna for a while longer, learning quite a bit of exclusive information about The City That Never Sleeps.
He had seen the outline of the massive volcanic city in the afternoon, but it wasn't until the sky began to darken that they finally reached its main gate.
At this moment, dense queues already stretched before the gates of The City That Never Sleeps.
Countless heads formed several columns like ants, entering through different gates.
Leilin noticed that beside the many smaller gates, there were also several extremely large passages, with gates over a dozen meters high, though these passages were currently closed.
"That's for giants and some large creatures to pass through. They're not usually open!" Jenna explained from the side.
"And we are official wizards, so we can enter through the VIP passage over there!"
As she spoke, Jenna led Leilin towards a quieter small gate nearby.
On either side of these gates stood over a dozen guards of the Third-rank Apprentice level, their bodies faintly emitting the aura of magical items.
"The two honored guests, are you here to settle permanently or temporarily..."
Upon seeing Leilin and Jenna approach, the apprentices guarding immediately bowed in respect.
Leilin noticed that something disc-shaped in their hands was emitting spell light. From the runes on its surface, it appeared to be some sort of detection array for sensing energy fluctuations.
Jenna simply extended her right hand, displaying a silver ring on her index finger.
The antique ring was entirely silver, with subtle runes that continuously emitted a faint sheen.
"So it is an honored guest who has settled permanently. Please enter!" The apprentices stepped back respectfully.
"This is my first time here. Are there any procedures?" Leilin asked the apprentice who had just spoken.
"Yes. For wizards entering the city for the first time, we have a simple procedure. You can pay two hundred Magic Stones to gain the right to reside in The City That Never Sleeps permanently, or spend ten Magic Stones to stay for one month!"
"Give me the permanent one!" Leilin directly tossed over two high-grade Magic Stones.
"Alright, please wait..." The apprentice quickly took out a piece of parchment and began writing something. "May I have your name?"
"Leilin Farell!" This was the territory of white wizards. The Lilisite family's reach wasn't long enough to affect this place, so Leilin used his real name.
"This is your token. Please keep it safe!"
The procedure was unexpectedly simple. The apprentice merely asked for Leilin's name, registered it, and then handed him another silver ring.
"This is your entry token. Please keep it safe! Additionally, please do not linger on the streets after 12 o'clock at night, otherwise you will be arrested by the enforcement squad!"
The apprentice bowed as a reminder.
Leilin nodded to show he understood, then left with Jenna who had been waiting beside him.
"Jenna, I've been waiting for you so long!" After passing through the five-or-six-meter-thick gateway, before Leilin could even examine the architecture of The City That Never Sleeps, a rough voice reached his ears.
A burly blonde man who had been standing by the gate for a long time immediately stepped forward, a worried expression on his face.
"Uncle Manna!" Jenna's face took on a petulant expression as she went up and hugged the man. "Jenna missed you so much!"
"Haha... me too!" The man laughed heartily, then looked towards Leilin.
"Heavy scent of blood. Very much like those fellows from the eastern swamps!"
Clearly, the killing intent and bloody aura on Leilin raised strong vigilance in the man, and his massive body directly positioned itself between Leilin and Jenna.
"And this is...?" The man looked at Leilin with an unfriendly expression, as if he might attack at any moment.
"This is Leilin, a friend I met on the road!" Jenna hugged Manna's arm. "Leilin is a wandering wizard who plans to settle permanently in The City That Never Sleeps!"
"Is that so? The City That Never Sleeps is a peaceful city. I hope you live comfortably here. Here is a detailed map for you!"
The man showed a friendly smile and handed Leilin a rolled parchment map. His intention to refuse him coming along was already very obvious.
"Thank you!" Leilin responded with a brilliant smile.
He understood this man quite well. If he were a parent and discovered his child was associating with someone who didn't look like a good person at all, he would also feel strong vigilance.
