Thanks to Starfish-mm for scheduling me for a Strong Recommendation at the end of the month — this is the best and final promotional push before going paid. Arcane's collection count has already surpassed what Manifest of Fate had when it was completed, but the collection-to-subscription ratio in the Xuanhuan category has always been terrifying, so the only way to give myself more peace of mind is more collections. Heh.
I've been watching all the debates during this period, but I've rarely responded. Once you start writing something, you can't just rush through it and end the arc sloppily — because that would not only hurt the friends who enjoy this storyline, but cutting it short or glossing over it would leave a huge flaw. Writing it through to completion, writing it well, that's the attitude you should have. From the start of this book, I've been telling myself: don't rush, don't drag, and stick to your own vision — especially since this arc is the keystone and foreshadowing for a lot of what comes later.
Of course, when it comes to Arcane Magic, that's the absolute core of the core. I've always had complete settings and architecture when I write — the inspiration came from D Dolphin's *Library of the Future*, and there's nothing to be ashamed of in saying that. But the emphasis is quite different. Just thinking about driving forward the Arcane Magic (er, I mean, science) revolution, just thinking about the Lucian Arcane Magic Award, the Lucian Music Award, and, well, *you know* (wink) — I can't help but grin to myself.
When this book is finished, I'd be very happy if everyone could say after reading it that the author really knows how to have fun.
