First off, thank you all — you were amazing last night! Even though Octopus Uncle turned into Flatbread Uncle at one point, the gap has shrunk to about three hundred. In Feng Gong's words: I love you guys to death!
Also, today's updates might all be pushed back a little, because I hit a wall last night trying to write this morning's chapter. A lot of the material involved digging through books and reference material again, and I didn't get it mostly sorted out until after pulling an all-nighter and waking up at six this morning. After all, the nature of this novel's subject matter makes the writing inherently difficult — I can't sacrifice readability just for the sake of an explosive update pace.
Anyway, enough off-topic chatter. I'm cutting my internet connection and getting to writing now. I'll aim to post Chapter One at ten thirty, Chapter Two at one thirty in the afternoon, then grab a quick nap before Chapter Three at six in the evening and Chapter Four at nine thirty tonight.
