That was Jiang Huan's logic — simple and brutal.
She had actually considered something like this, but it was practically a fantasy — operationally speaking, far too unrealistic.
The two Evil Star Sect elders looked even more grim. They were nearly convinced that these two people Sect Master Han had brought back were complete frauds.
Otherwise, who could come up with something so idiotic?
Now there was a sensible suggestion!
The two elders' expressions softened slightly.
"As for the competition rules, they're actually quite simple. First, there's an evaluation — you need to pass the strength assessment to qualify. The first stage is extremely strict. If you can't muster five Divine Dao high-level cultivators, you might not even pass the evaluation." At this point, Han Shuang looked meaningfully at Jiang Chen and Jiang Huan.
Jiang Huan chuckled. "In that case, Sect Master Han finding us was quite the fortunate coincidence. Your sect should have just the three of you at Divine Dao high-level, right? Add us uncle and nephew, and that makes exactly five people. The evaluation shouldn't be a problem then, should it?"
Because the uncle and nephew's strength had always been rather vague — they concealed it well. Everyone assumed they were roughly at the Divine Dao high-level.
Whether they had actually broken through to the seventh level of Divine Dao, no one could really tell.
At least cultivators weaker than them certainly couldn't.
One elder gave a cold snort. "Forgive my bluntness, but since you two have only recently joined the sect, you should at least show us something to open our eyes, shouldn't you?"
"Exactly. Otherwise, how are we supposed to know the two of you are qualified to sit in the elder seats? The evaluation is no game. If we get rejected during the evaluation, our Evil Star Sect's plans will collapse entirely. No one can bear that responsibility."
The other elder's tone was equally barbed. It was hard to tell whether they resented Jiang Chen and the others for joining so hastily, or resented Han Shuang for acting unilaterally.
Han Shuang chuckled, her lovely eyes sweeping over Jiang Chen and the others.
"Two Elder Zhens, if you don't show your skills, it seems the two of them won't be satisfied. I, for one, am fully confident that you both possess Divine Dao high-level cultivation."
Jiang Huan chuckled and stretched lazily. "Then let's show something. How does Sect Master Han want us to show it? Should we roll up our sleeves for everyone to inspect?"
Han Shuang burst out laughing and gave Jiang Huan a charming eye-roll.
Jiang Chen smiled. "Allow me to represent us uncle and nephew. Two Elders, how about a friendly sparring match? Nothing that would damage our harmony."
The two elders had been itching for a fight. At Jiang Chen's words, they both shot to their feet. "Good! We like your bold spirit, Young Elder Zhen!"
Whether out of a sense of justice or personal sentiment, both elders felt that Jiang Chen and the others had joined the sect far too hastily, and they wanted to probe whether these two were nothing but swindlers. If so, they wouldn't hesitate to beat them out with clubs, dealing a harsh blow to Sect Master Han's face.
After all, Han Shuang was an unmarried widow who had taken over the Evil Star Sect — they had harbored reservations about that from the very start.
After all, they didn't consider Han Shuang to be particularly more capable than themselves. The position of Sect Master should rightfully have been theirs to hold.
