Chapter 2316: The Heavenly Emperor's Trusted Confidant

January 17, 2020 · 3 min read · 611 words

For a moment, Jiang Chen's mind was shaken to its core. This Jiang Huan's background was probably even more mysterious than he had imagined.

Jiang Huan paused after speaking, then smiled leisurely. "I've said quite a lot already. Surely young master Jiang Chen has plenty he'd like to say as well?"

At this point, Jiang Chen already had his own suspicions.

Connecting many details together, he was now almost certain that Jiang Huan was not a person from this world.

His origins were definitely tied to Jiang Chen's previous life. Otherwise, it was impossible for every word he spoke to carry such deep, layered meaning.

Jiang Chen smiled faintly. "If someone else were hearing these words, they'd think you'd lost your mind and were babbling nonsense. Fortunately, I can follow along. I'll ask just one question: if you predate even the history of the Divine Abyss Continent — going all the way back to the primordial era, when people were barbaric and savage, with no surnames and blurred distinctions between races — then why do you bear the surname Jiang? Where does that name come from?"

Jiang Huan broke into hearty laughter. "Excellent question. That's a very perceptive one."

"Are you willing to put my doubts to rest?" Jiang Chen asked.

"With pleasure. It's simply that my former master bore the surname Jiang. And I came to the Divine Abyss Continent because my master arranged for me to come, to find the young master and welcome him home."

"Former master? Young master?" Jiang Chen stared at him.

"Yes. My former master also surnamed Jiang. He was the lord of all realms — the Heavenly Emperor of the Ta Yuan Great World. And my young master happens to share your exact name. Tell me, isn't that quite the coincidence?"

The two of them were circling around each other, clearly probing step by step. One feared finding the wrong person and betraying heaven's secrets; the other feared showing the wrong emotion and revealing his identity.

Jiang Chen's brow furrowed deeply. "What proof do you have?"

Without another word, Jiang Huan flicked his fingers and a jade slip shot toward Jiang Chen. Inside it was a recorded strand of divine consciousness.

"My son Jiang Chen — under my command I have three loyal agents: Jiang Huan, Jiang Quan, and Jiang Kui. I have placed these three in three different planes. They are all my most trusted confidants. Whichever one you meet, treat them as an uncle. These three carry an immense burden. Whether you and I, father and son, can be reunited, whether the Ta Yuan Great World can return to the Jiang family — whether these three can find you is the most critical factor of all. If you encounter them, do not hesitate. Trust them."

The message was brief, but it was unmistakably left by his father.

At this point, Jiang Chen had no further doubts. He immediately bowed in salute. "Nephew greets his uncle."

Jiang Huan hurriedly rose and knelt. "Young master, this old servant was merely an attendant secretly cultivated by the old master. How could I dare receive such a grand gesture? This was the old master's kindness, but I would never presume to stand on ceremony before the young master."

Jiang Huan was, after all, an attendant of the Ta Yuan Heavenly Emperor. But like the other two loyal agents, he had been cultivated in secret — unknown to anyone. Even Jiang Chen had never heard of them before.

Perhaps the Ta Yuan Heavenly Emperor had begun preparing for the great catastrophe across all realms a very long time ago, laying the groundwork for what was to come.
