Chapter 2253: Two Grand Ancestors

"Hmph! I'm afraid he won't come, not the other way around. If he dares show up, I'll make sure there's not even enough left of him to bury!" The Kite Demon Grand Ancestor radiated killing intent, his eyes bloodshot.

Back in the Huichun Island Domain, the Green Falcon Grand Ancestors had been one of the leaders of that expeditionary force. The Green Falcon Grand Ancestor had indeed been killed by Jiang Chen and the four Divine Beasts working together.

The Kite Demon Grand Ancestor wasn't exactly wrong to blame Jiang Chen.

The Roc Demon Grand Ancestor saw his companion's murderous aura and crimson eyes and still felt compelled to offer earnest counsel. "Fellow Daoist, we share the same lineage, so I must advise you — whatever you do, do not underestimate that Jiang Chen. That boy is far from ordinary. Otherwise, how could so many of our demon brethren have fallen to him, one after another?"

"Are you trying to boost the enemy's morale and crush our own spirit?" the Kite Demon Grand Ancestor shot back. "What does that human race have besides their schemes and tricks, their formations and talismans? What else can they do? In open combat, how many ancient human powerhouses could even hold a candle to us? The current Divine Abyss Continent — especially the human territories — have fallen to ruin. I've heard that during their most wretched period, they didn't even have a single Celestial cultivator!"

The Kite Demon Grand Ancestor's contempt for the human race ran bone-deep.

"Sigh, perhaps that was merely the humans showing weakness deliberately. If they truly had no Celestial cultivators, how could they keep making our demon brethren suffer defeat after defeat?"

The Kite Demon Grand Ancestor let out a cold snort. "You know perfectly well what our demon race is like. Cultivators of the same lineage cooperate reasonably well, but between different lineages, it's infighting atop infighting. That expeditionary force to the Huichun Island Domain had members from the Winged Demon lineage, the Metal Demon lineage, and the Shadow Demon lineage. Why in the world did they have to follow the Shadow Demon lineage's command? What merit or capability did the Shadow Demon lineage have? The facts proved that letting the incompetent Shadow Demon lineage lead the battle was the fundamental reason for the defeat at Huichun Island Domain. For all we know, they tore each other apart with severe internal strife."

The Roc Demon Grand Ancestor knew his companion was exceptionally stubborn and had no real hope of persuading him. Instead, he pointed at the surrounding terrain. "Never mind all that for now. Look at this area — it clearly suffered through a brutal battle, and one of the combatants must have been the two Grand Ancestors of the Fire Demon lineage. I suspect that Jiang Chen and his group have already infiltrated this area around the Radiant Holy Land and the Rising Sun Holy Land."

The Kite Demon Grand Ancestor's eyes lit up. "He's really here?"

"I strongly suspect so." The Roc Demon Grand Ancestor was far more cautious, and even his tone carried a note of wariness.

Seeing the Roc Demon Grand Ancestor act this way, the Kite Demon Grand Ancestor couldn't help but mock him. "Fellow Daoist Peng, among the Winged Demon lineage, your Roc Demon branch is supposed to have one of the stronger bloodlines. So why are you so timid and cautious? Could it be that Jiang Chen has actually scared the courage out of you?"

The Roc Demon Grand Ancestor's face darkened with displeasure at these words.

He gave a light hum and said in a grim tone, "Fellow Daoist, I'm trying to give you a sincere warning. If you treat my goodwill like donkey liver and lungs and suffer for it later, don't say I didn't try to put you on guard."

The Kite Demon Grand Ancestor smiled coldly. "Is that so? Then I suppose I ought to thank you for your generosity. Let me just ask you this — if Jiang Chen does show up, will you dare to fight alongside me and take that boy down?"

"That boy is already a major threat to our demon race. If the opportunity arises, we absolutely cannot let him go." The Roc Demon Grand Ancestor wasn't truly afraid of Jiang Chen.

It was more that he felt Jiang Chen was no ordinary opponent. To deal with Jiang Chen, one had to act only after careful planning, with a thorough understanding of his methods.

Otherwise, rushing headlong into a confrontation with Jiang Chen would very likely result in being ambushed or outmaneuvered.

After all, with the Metal Demon lineage's sharpness, the Giant Demon lineage's overwhelming force, and the Monster Demon lineage's ferocity — were any of them weaker than Jiang Chen?

So why had they each suffered defeats at Jiang Chen's hands, one after another?

There was something worth pondering deeply in that question.
