Most demon cultivators shared one fatal flaw — they were supremely arrogant, harboring an instinctive disdain for human cultivators. In their minds, they were the mightiest beings in all heaven and earth.
Even during the ancient Demon Sealing War, the demon cultivators believed that it wasn't humanity itself that had defeated them. Rather, humans had exploited favorable conditions — timing, terrain, and cunning stratagems — to seal them away.
In a straight-up confrontation, they were utterly unafraid of humans.
The current demon tribulation only reinforced that confidence. They had swept in from the far side of the barren world, crushing territory after territory, faction after faction. They had found a great teleportation formation and entered the Myriad Abyss Island.
When the demons learned that the Myriad Abyss Island could serve as a direct pathway to the Human Domain, the entire race had been ecstatic.
On the Divine Origin Continent, the Human Domain had always been the demons' greatest thorn — the territory they most coveted, the juiciest morsel in their eyes.
There was no way the demons would let such a prize slip by.
The Myriad Abyss Island was merely a springboard. Their ultimate objective remained the invasion of the Human Domain and vengeance for the humiliation of being sealed away in ancient times.
To that end, every major demon lineage had dispatched forces to invade the great holy lands of the Myriad Abyss Island.
So far, some operations had proceeded smoothly, while others had encountered unexpected complications.
These two ancestors had pushed their speed to the absolute limit. After several hours, they arrived at the region they had pinpointed.
Their pace slowed. The Fire Sun Ancestor's crimson pupils swept coldly over the area, his expression grave — a marked shift from his earlier excitement and greed.
They were, after all, seasoned demon ancestors who had witnessed countless great events. Greed had not robbed them of their reason.
Though they were still within the territory of the Radiant Sun Holy Land, they did not let their guard down.
"Brother, the fire attribute activity here doesn't seem particularly strong," the Fire Sun Ancestor muttered, half to himself and half to the Bright Brilliance Ancestor.
"That's what I was thinking. Could our calculations be off?" the Bright Brilliance Ancestor asked in a low voice.
"How is that possible? You and I were born from flame. Our sensitivity to fire attributes is exquisite beyond compare. Our calculations cannot be wrong." The Fire Sun Ancestor shook his head.
"Then what's going on? Could there be a trap?" the Bright Brilliance Ancestor pressed.
"Let's be cautious. These days, the Myriad Abyss Island has been full of strange occurrences. The Gold Demon lineage suffered misfortune. The Monster Demon and Giant Demon lineages reportedly turned on each other and met the same fate. I hear this matter has already reached the ears of the Heavenly Demon Ancestor, and the Heavenly Demon lineage is furious — they're said to be planning to send reinforcements."
"Heh, they brought it upon themselves. A great enemy at the gates, and they still had the mind for internal strife. If they don't meet with disaster, who would?"
"Well said. The Hundred Saints Holy Land was originally assigned as a task for the Monster Demon lineage, but the Giant Demon lineage barged in uninvited. And the Heavenly Demon Ancestor didn't utter a single word of protest — clearly a tacit endorsement. After all these ages, the Heavenly Demon lineage is still playing the same games." There was a note of complaint in the Fire Sun Ancestor's tone.
"Heh, Brother, the Heavenly Demon lineage ultimately fears the other demon branches growing too powerful. Their sense of insecurity runs deep. Fortunately, our Fire Demon lineage has never been overly aggressive. We needn't worry about them taking a dislike to us."
As the two conversed, their spiritual senses were far from idle — sweeping in every direction, searching for any trace of a clue.
Their footsteps were synchronized with striking precision, both choosing the same direction.
"I've sensed it. Just ahead. It seems the fire attribute fluctuations are being deliberately suppressed." The Fire Sun Ancestor's eyes suddenly lit up.
"Mm. The fluctuations were so intense before, yet now they're being suppressed. There's definitely something amiss. Could it be they're afraid of being discovered?" the Bright Brilliance Ancestor said.
"Let's go. Take a look."
