That Silver Edge Ancestor had no idea what the Water-Fire True Dragon Rope was truly capable of. Seeing it transform into streams of water and fire, he merely scoffed and ignored it. The other true spirits had already cycled through water and fire attacks several rounds without so much as scratching him. This water and fire assault didn't seem all that impressive — how could it possibly trouble me?
With that thought, the Silver Edge Ancestor simply couldn't be bothered to deal with it.
However, this decision would prove to be the single most foolish choice of his life. By the time he realized something was wrong with the water and fire attack, the Water-Fire True Dragon Rope had already coiled around his body seven or eight times.
Once ensnared by the Water-Fire True Dragon Rope, not even the Silver Edge Ancestor stood any chance of turning the tables. He poured every ounce of strength he had into his body, violently erupting with sharp energies from within, desperately trying to slice the rope apart — only to discover it was utterly futile.
The Silver Edge Ancestor's Dharma body had inherited the indestructible resilience of the Gold Demon lineage. But the Water-Fire True Dragon Rope possessed its own tenacity, and was not something ordinary sharpness in this world could destroy.
The Water-Fire True Dragon Rope was the handiwork of the Heavenly Emperors of the myriad realms — how could it possibly be damaged by a mere ordinary demon ancestor? The more fiercely he struggled, the tighter and more powerful the Water-Fire True Dragon Rope's constriction became.
The coiling accelerated — first his legs, then his waist, and finally both arms were trapped as well. In the end, the Silver Edge Ancestor was bound up tight from head to toe, completely devoid of any strength to move.
The Silver Edge Ancestor's eyes went wide. In those fierce, savage eyes, a trace of fear finally appeared. Others couldn't kill him — that was because they couldn't kill him in battle.
But once he truly became a prisoner, was there really anyone who couldn't be killed?
All it would take was a single talisman from his captor to seal the resistance of his Dharma body, and after that, wouldn't he be nothing more than cattle or sheep, slaughtered at someone else's whim?
Jiang Chen walked over with a smile on his face. "The Gold Demon lineage truly lives up to its reputation as the demon race's foremost warriors in close combat. In my estimation, apart from the Heavenly Demon lineage, your Gold Demon bloodline is arguably the strongest among all the demon clans."
The Silver Edge Ancestor let out a cold snort, hatred filling his eyes.
Victory went to kings, defeat to bandits. What good were his savage looks now, even if his gaze could kill?
Jiang Chen gave him a flat glance. "No need to glower. Your Gold Demon lineage may be formidable, but I've never thought much of it. I know you refuse to accept this, but the facts speak for themselves. You are my prisoner, and every one of your demon kin has been cut down."
The Silver Edge Ancestor spat through gritted teeth. "If only that Shadowless old fool hadn't insisted on playing clever. If he'd done as I said and charged straight in, seizing the initiative, where would this humiliation be today?"
Jiang Chen laughed. "You ambushed me and still couldn't win. Charging straight in headlong would have been no different from a moth throwing itself into a flame. Don't flatter yourself."
The Silver Edge Ancestor was still defiant. "You humans are nothing but despicable — all you know are schemes and plots. In a real fight, blade against blade, who wins and who loses wouldn't be so certain!"
Jiang Chen shrugged. "Heaven is fair. It gave your demon race powerful bodies and potent bloodlines, so naturally it wouldn't grant you too much intelligence."
The demon race wasn't truly lacking in intelligence, and they were far from innocent of cunning and treachery themselves. But compared to the human race, they were indeed inferior when it came to strategic acumen and grand planning. Just as Jiang Chen had said — Heaven was fair.
If the demon race had been given wisdom on par with their physical prowess, they truly would have been unstoppable.
The Silver Edge Ancestor was taken alive. Every other demon was slaughtered.
Jiang Chen gathered everyone together and declared in a loud voice, "Friends, we have won this battle — but the demon army still lingers outside the Revival Island Domain. The ones who ambushed us today were only a handful of demon heavyweights. Let us press our advantage and strike again, grinding the remaining demon forces to dust!"
"Kill, kill, kill!"
The battle had ignited everyone's bloodlust. Now that they had discovered the demon race was not the invincible force legend made them out to be, the fighting spirit within their hearts blazed to new heights.
