Chapter 2019: The Grey Wolf King

The first task wasn't particularly complex. The difficulty of the first island lay in the fog. This mist not only affected one's line of sight but also clouded a cultivator's judgment on details. Even when facing danger, the fog would dull one's reactions.

However, for Jiang Chen, none of this was a problem.

He had cultivated his five senses and six perceptions to an extremely high level. His Heavenly Eye Divine Pupil was unaffected even in total darkness, so these layers of mist did little to hinder his vision.

Within the fog, Jiang Chen fully activated his Heavenly Eye Divine Pupil. His divine sense spread out around him as he began searching for the Silver Chain Gate.

Logically, the Silver Chain Gate had to be in a very concealed location. Otherwise, it wouldn't be considered the key task for passing the first Forbidden Island.

Jiang Chen decided not to employ the Gold-Munching Mouse, nor to rely on the power of the Vermilion Bird Divine Avian or Little Xuan the Dragon. He would find this Silver Chain Gate by his own strength alone.

At this moment, Jiang Chen's advantages became utterly apparent. His field of vision and the acuity of his divine sense in this environment were at least several times greater than those of other cultivators.

In less than half an hour, Jiang Chen had pinpointed a region where a silver light surged faintly. That silver light was completely invisible within the mist, extremely hard to detect.

But through the observation of his Heavenly Eye Divine Pupil, Jiang Chen had a clear grasp of that shimmering flow of silver.

"The Silver Chain Gate, as the name implies, must feature gleaming silver light." Jiang Chen decided to go take a look, regardless of whether it was the actual gate or not; it couldn't hurt to investigate.

Jiang Chen activated the Sky Kun Flowing Light Escape and shot toward the region of silver light at tremendous speed.

While flying, various creatures occasionally burst from the void—like hawks or giant eagles—attempting to attack Jiang Chen, but he simply swatted each one away with a single palm strike.

For Jiang Chen, such low-level creatures provoking him was practically suicide.

Soon, Jiang Chen landed in the area where the silver light pulsed.

From a distance, the silver light was quite conspicuous. At the two ends of a valley, streams of silver light arched between them like bridges.

However, the silver light formed circles, resembling rows of teeth or the teeth of a giant zipper. It looked very strange.

Jiang Chen observed from afar, not rushing to pass through.

After a moment, he smiled faintly. He had figured something out. This Silver Chain Gate definitely possessed some form of prohibitive power.

Nevertheless, Jiang Chen didn't hesitate long. His body flickered, and he vanished into the Silver Chain Gate.

The instant his body entered, the upper and lower arcs of silver light immediately began snapping together like two rows of sharp teeth, the rate of closure extremely fast.

Yet Jiang Chen's speed was even quicker. He accurately timed the rhythm of the chomping and, barely breaking a sweat, passed through the Silver Chain Gate.

"Unexpectedly, this first trial was quite easy," Jiang Chen reflected. But then, this was only the first trial; it wasn't expected to be too difficult.

The moment he cleared the Silver Chain Gate, his jade slip displayed a symbol indicating successful passage. He had cleared the first Forbidden Island and earned ten points for it.

After passing through the gate, Jiang Chen found himself on a bridge. A radiance swept over it, instantly whisking him away.

A moment later, as if completing a void displacement, he arrived on another bridge. The jade slip indicated he had entered the second Forbidden Island.

The task for this Forbidden Island was now displayed.

"Cross the Grey Wolf Valley? Pluck three hairs from the Grey Wolf King's body?" Reading this task, Jiang Chen didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
