Chapter 1933: Sweeping Through Without Restraint

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 790 words

If the Blue Mist Island Domain truly hadn't changed at all, would the Blue Hawk Guard be this arrogant? The Blue Hawk Guard of old had certainly been somewhat overbearing, but they were never anywhere near this brazen.

An offhand remark from Chu Xinghan set Jiang Chen deep in thought.

However, in the end, Jiang Chen still did not choose to leave. He was not the kind of man who would flee at the first sign of trouble. Besides, he didn't feel this matter was finished yet.

The Blue Hawk Guard had indeed been thoroughly taught a lesson by him — Commander Yan had even fallen into his hands. Yet Jiang Chen still had some things he needed to clarify with Sister Liu from that ancient jade shop.

He suspected that he had been betrayed by her. The main reason the Blue Hawk Guard had stormed the inn in the dead of night was because of the ancient jade on his person — that was what had driven them to go to such lengths and pull off such a scheme.

Otherwise, if they truly wanted to capture some important fugitive, why go through all that trouble?

Camping outside the inn — whoever showed up would walk right into the trap!

Thinking it over carefully, the whole picture became crystal clear in Jiang Chen's mind. They had indeed come for his ancient jade.

Looking outside now, dawn was fast approaching.

Jiang Chen turned to Chu Xinghan. "Brother Chu, leaving now goes against my principles. Once I've taken care of this matter, I'll be on my way. Stay with us — there's no need to worry."

Having witnessed Jiang Chen's Divine Ability, Chu Xinghan's heart had already been shaken by tumultuous waves. When he learned that the genius who had crushed the Blue Hawk Guard was none other than an old acquaintance of his, the shock grew even more staggering.

So, hearing Jiang Chen say this, Chu Xinghan naturally had no objection.

By the time dawn broke, no more Blue Hawk Guards had shown up, and the inn staff didn't dare cause any further trouble. As for those rogue cultivators, they certainly weren't about to come knocking.

And so, once daylight had fully arrived, Jiang Chen and his group finally chose to set out.

However, when they arrived at that shop, it still hadn't opened for business. Jiang Chen sneered — if they wouldn't open their doors, then he would wait.

After waiting for over half an hour, every surrounding shop had opened. This was the only establishment that remained shut tight, with no sign of the door opening anytime soon.

"Hmph, hiding from me?" Jiang Chen smiled coldly, even more certain now that they had a guilty conscience.

With that thought, he didn't bother being polite.

He strode up to the front and pushed both palms forward through the air. The layers of protective restrictions before the door crumbled like paper, dissolving and shattering one after another. Before long, every last restriction had been completely destroyed by Jiang Chen, and the front doors were pushed open as he strode straight inside.

This high-handed display drew heads from the neighboring shops — all craning to watch the spectacle. This particular establishment was one of the top-tier shops in the City of Miracles, enormous in scale and massive in business.

In fact, a good number of the surrounding shops had lost much of their business to this one over the years.

As the saying goes, the tallest tree catches the most wind. Seeing that this shop had finally run into trouble, the neighboring establishments didn't step forward to help or demand answers. Instead, they were quietly gloating behind the scenes.

They all felt the shop had been far too arrogant for too long, and that someone had finally stood up to it.

If this man could only tear the place apart and burn it to the ground — that would be ideal. Then, the shop's enormous share of the market would finally be distributed among the rest of them. What a massive windfall that would be.

The moment the doors were pushed open, Jiang Chen dragged a chair over with an air of authority and planted himself right in the center of the shop.

A few young shop assistants had already been creeping timidly out from the corners. In truth, Jiang Chen had long since sensed that there were people inside.

He swept them with a cold gaze. "What's this? Today you didn't even have the courage to open your doors?"

The shop assistants' faces were ashen. One and all, they dodged his eyes like people trying to avoid the plague, terrified that in a flash of fury he might devour them whole.
