Chapter 1874: What the Formation Requires

Emperor Mo Zhe was a sage. He had always pondered the wisdom of life and the essence of existence. His powers of comprehension and insight were truly rare among Emperor realm cultivators.

He had also conducted considerable research into many matters of the ancient era.

As such, he had heard of the Myriad Spirits God-Locking Formation. Naturally, however, what he knew was far less detailed than Jiang Chen's understanding.

Jiang Chen hadn't expected Emperor Mo Zhe to possess such keen insight. He offered a faint smile. "Humanity's slim chance of survival lies precisely in this formation. If it can be restarted, when the demonic calamity erupts on a massive scale, this formation may allow humanity to avoid the demon race's first wave of assault. It might even let us sidestep the main blow of this demonic calamity entirely."

"Oh?" Every pair of eyes in the hall lit up once more.

"However, it's easier said than done. Even in the ancient era, this formation was a monumental undertaking. In this current age, with resources scarce and manpower even more so, restarting it will be far from simple." Jiang Chen sighed softly.

"No matter how difficult it is, as long as we pool all of humanity's forces, all our resources, all our fortune, the formation should be activatable, shouldn't it?" someone couldn't help but ask.

Jiang Chen shook his head. "In terms of resources, even if every sect and faction in the human domain combined everything they have, it still might not be enough to restart this formation. In fact, I can say with certainty that it won't be. And manpower will be insufficient as well, of course."

"Then isn't this formation just a castle in the air — completely useless?" someone said, deeply disheartened, their tone turning somber.

"That formation is truly that massive? Even pooling the resources of the entire human domain isn't enough to restart it?"

"An ancient formation — they really are enormous in scale."

For a moment, everyone was overcome with sighs and lamentations. They gazed at Jiang Chen, their eyes brimming with anticipation, desperate for some encouraging news.

Jiang Chen spoke calmly. "The human domain of this era, compared to the ancient era, operates at perhaps one-fortieth of its former capacity. Many ruins of ancient sects remain sealed away in hidden places, yet to emerge. If we could locate several ancient sect ruins and obtain their legacies, the resource problem might well be solved. Even failing that, if we look toward Myriad Abyss Island, we might likewise secure enough resources to restart the formation. My only concern is whether there will be enough time."

For Jiang Chen, the greatest challenge was the time constraint on gathering resources. If there were no deadline and he could take his time, give him a few centuries and he could eventually collect everything needed.

But the demonic calamity would not wait a hundred years. Jiang Chen had to treat every single day as precious gold.

As for the formation's own knowledge — that was already in his hands. Between the Danxiao Ancient Sect, the Dizang Gate, and the independent formation grandmaster Pei Xing, he had already grasped roughly seventy to eighty percent of the content regarding the Myriad Spirits God-Locking Formation.

If it came down to restarting the formation, another round of study and contemplation would pose no real problem.

After all, this was a restart, not a complete teardown and reconstruction. Building the Myriad Spirits God-Locking Formation from scratch would require resources and manpower that were truly staggering.

The resources and manpower needed would be at least three times what a restart demanded.

A restart, by comparison, eliminated much of the work. There would be no need to re-establish formation foundations, no need to carve the formation lines anew, no need to handle all the basic groundwork.

One only needed to locate the formation's core hub, find its key nodes, apply the principles of formation theory, and restart the formation — then everything would fall into place.
